Hi everyone, this is a long post but I’d love your help and insight. On June 15 my sister had booked a 2 night stay Fairview Inn in Marshfield for her wedding June 17.
Upon checking in on Thursday to unpack and hang her dress she turned on the AC and continued about her business of unpacking, 20 minutes in she noticed the AC was not working so she called the front desk. They told her they would send someone up and have it fixed by her 9pm return. When she returned the room was stifling hot, she called the front desk, let them know, once again was told it would be fixed by tomorrow morning. She couldn’t stay because of the heat so she drove home. We are lifelong residents of Humarock and always believe in staying local and The Fairview Inn seemed the perfect choice.
June 17, the day of her wedding I arrived at the hotel first to make sure everything was set for the bridesmaid and the other members of her small wedding party.
Again a stifling hot room. I called the front desk explained the bride was on her way with the photographer and could we please have the AC fixed or could we move rooms. She then told me she’d send up a manager to personally fix the AC. 45 minutes went by, no one had come. Tried to make coffee, the machine did not work. Called front desk again 25 minutes later a very nice man named Alan came proceeded to tell me that the reason why the room was so hot was because “the manager told him there were so many people in the room.” Not true and completely disappointing to say the least, I again explained the entire saga and he then told us that he would personally put in a wall unit if he couldn’t get the AC to work and that he was very sorry but not to worry when she returned after her wedding the room will be nice and cool. We continued to dress in ridiculous heat, no coffee machine ever arrived and we had to go to the wedding.
Her and her new husband arrived to a sweltering room and spent their first night with no wall unit and no AC.
I sent emails, 47 in all, I called 38 times, left VM’s, even spoke to waitstaff numerous times daily. Tried to speak to Artie the manager, there was even a time I called and the nice girl who answered the phone said “oh he was right here, let me get him.” Came back to the phone and said in a very shaky voice, “he’s not here, sorry.”
I used to own a restaurant, never have I been treated so poorly or would have treated any of my customers so poorly.
I even called the owner of the building who was so kind and told, “yes those are the correct emails and I’m so sorry you have been treated so poorly.”
I don’t know if anyone here has had any experience with Artie and his wife or The Fairview Inn. Marshfield. Ma but now I’ve been in contact with a lawyer and it makes me sad to think a local business would treat local people or any people for that matter so poorly.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
