Beware- Hazelton's is linked to Woof…

Beware- Hazelton's is linked to Woof Crates- a (I thought) Canadian pet subscription box service. I ordered from them and received an emailed invoice showing $69.99 CA very clearly. My credit card was charged in USD which total about $94 CDN. After a week of not hearing anything, I emailed for any information about shipping and to discuss my card charge being corrected. I received a simple "it was shipped and you will receive it in three days" email from "Sam"? No tracking and when I inquired again a day later and then two days later, no response. I called the 1-800 line on the website and it answered as "Hazelton's". The order inquiry and CS line told you to email to receive a service number or press one to order. I thought it best to try going through the order system so get resolution but once I started to give the rep my invoice number, it mysteriously disconnected. When I have tried calling again, it just rings. to date, no communication at all other then that one from "Sam".

Sham practices

I placed an order through Hazelton's website - I paid for two upgrades on wine and one on cheese. The package ordered arrived 3 days later (despite upgraded shipping paid for), and 2/3 items I had had chosen with upgrades were substituted for without the company alerting or asking me about the change and with no reimbursement for the upgrades I had paid. When asked about this, the company spokesperson, Jane, simply stated - they had the right to substitute any order based on availability - and I should read the fine print. Luckily, the rest of the economy does not function under such consumer-unfriendly practices. I will never order from this company again.

Warning - investigation for consumer fraud pending

This company engages in flagrant consumer fraud and are currently being investigated. See below excerpts from my final email to a third random Hazelton "customer service" rep. The first two emails generated a generic response. They never responded to this last email. I will be advancing a Small Claims action, and encourage others who have been similarly scammed to do the same. They advertise premium items on their website, and once ordered, substitute them for inferior, damaged, dollar store items. Some paid for items are just never delivered. See website vs the photos I have posted for comparison. From: SA To: 'Quinton' Hello Quinton, You are now the third person I have spoken to regarding this matter. This will be the THIRD TIME I am sending photographs of all the defective, damaged and wrong items that had been sent as part of the delivery. These items have been preserved at the delivery site (my office) and you are welcome to come survey them in person if photos will not suffice. 1. You do not have the right to unilaterally substitute items that were ordered, regardless of the “terms and agreements” on your website that are in direct breach of the Consumer Protection Act. 2. You have an obligation to advise your customer of unavailable items, and give them the option of either accepting the recommended substitution, or rejecting the substitution option and removing the item entirely from the order. 3. Not only were the substituted items not agreed upon or ever communicated, they were clearly all of lesser value, and in poorer condition, than what was represented on the website. I ordered 7 items, and 6 of them were not delivered as advertised. My basket had 7 items: 1) I ordered a NHL Maple Leafs Bear for $16.99. I received a used, dirty, damaged dog toy teddy bear, and with a fake “NHL” tag and without an “NHL Maple Leaf” Jersey. 2) I ordered strawberry shortcake cupcakes for $19.99. I got unmarked, unidentified (but seemingly plain white vanilla), smashed, stale cupcakes. 3) I ordered a “wooden half barrel” container for my potted plant for $37.49. I did not receive anything, even a shoddy substitution. 4) I ordered a healthy, cactus for $12.49. I got a broken, smashed succulent. 5) I ordered a singing balloon for $13.99. I got a dollar store balloon that does not sing. 6) I ordered wine for $23.00. this is the one item that came as advertised. LCBO sells this for $11.00. 7) I ordered the Candy Gift Basket. The packaging was not even close to what was advertised, and the contents were replaced by cheap candy, not the luxury treats advertised on the website. i. This is the description of what I ordered from the website: "Celestial Sours – These Suns, Stars, Moons, and Clouds are our premium candies – with a bit of a bite! The flavors are enhanced with real fruit juice and sanded with tart and sweet crystals. Chocolate Cherries — Without question, the hottest item we sell!!! Moist Bing cherries coated in our rich milk chocolate then double dipped in our own cherry coating made with more real bits of cherries. The appearance is enhanced with a deep burgundy color with “flecks” of natural fruit bits. The surface is high gloss. Raspberry Jelly Beans - Premium real fruit jellybeans loaded with fruit from juice concentrates. Gummy Bears - Premium imported Gummi Bears in a variety of fruit flavors and sparkling clear colors. Assorted Jelly Beans – A great way to try a variety of our real fruit jelly beans! Natural Dark Chocolate Jordan Almonds - Roasted almonds covered in rich dark chocolate and a thin sugar shell." ii. This is what I received: 1. Green generic smarties 2. Generic yellow gummy bears 3. Generic Blue sour gummies. 4. Generic multicolored jelly beans 5. Generic cinnamon hearts 6. Generic gummy worms. I wish I had read all these reviews…

I wish I had read all these reviews before ordering from these crooks, I read the ones on their website which are obviously fake. I ordered the Champagne and chocolate basket online around 3pm pst and few hours later I attempted to change the delivery to express and was emailed back by Quinton that the order cannot be changed as it has left the warehouse already! What? How could that be? So it took it 8 days to arrive and the contents were destroyed. The wine was the only thing that wasn't damaged. The chocolate balls came in a cheap clay pot with green styrofoam and red tissue paper and the pot was broken. There was no apples or grapes like I ordered they put in a whole pineapple instead and it leaked juices all over the place. I ordered cheesecake brownies and received fudge brownies squashed in a wet box. No cheese was added and the 2 wine glasses were also missing. After contacting Hazeltons by email because nobody answers the phone, Jane replied that they wont reimburse me anything as I had perishables shipped by ground. I told her I want to be reimbursed for the missing and damaged items, I don't care about the pineapple. I never received the wine glasses ,and pot was smashed, brownies squashed, no cheese added which I paid for. I showed them pictures of everything before and after it was opened. They stopped emailing after that. These guys are crooks and scammers. Beware never do any business with them. I’ll be filing with BBB

This company is absolutely awful

This company is absolutely awful. To quote CBC: Customers of a Toronto gift company are warning other consumers about food baskets they ordered that were reduced to spoiled, rotten messes by the time they arrived. Fred Wood said he used Hazelton's service in hopes of giving his sister a happy birthday. "It's disappointment in a basket," sighed Wood, who spoke to CBC Toronto from his home in Peterborough, Ont., where he's a professor at Fleming College. For his sister Susan's mid-July birthday, Wood used Hazelton's website to order a gift basket with more than $200 worth of fruit and cheese, and a custom chocolate cake. It was supposed to be delivered the same day. Five days later, the basket landed on Susan Wood's front porch at her farm in Rockwood, Ont., about 83 kilometres northwest of Toronto. "It was a gooey, liquefied, sticky mess," she recalled, the scorching summertime temperatures peaking in the mid-30s. The cake was so "squished down that it looked like chocolate pancakes," she said. As for the gourmet cheese and candy apples — well, forget about it. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Hazelton's has an F rating, the lowest the bureau gives out, for failing to respond to customer complaints. In the last three years, there have been 89 complaints about the company on the BBB website, with the company failing to respond to 81 of them.

Every bad comment on here seems to be…

Every bad comment on here seems to be spot on! We received a cake sideways in an upright box! Melted, and of course it slid to the side of the package, an empty bag labeled dry ice! When I sent pictures they blamed us for not ordering it correctly. They charged extra for writing on the cake that looks as though nothing was ever written on it. Completely damaged! They say there is Nothing they will do. Its our fault. Also, it was supposed to be delivered two days earlier. Whose fault is that?? Sounds like their response's are generic, same answer instantly to everyone. Don't waste your money here!

Unobtrusive, butler-caliber, service.

Gorgeous room. Excellent service. I was launching my book “Jam & Jerusalem” at Toronto branches of Indigo, the hotel couldn’t have been more helpful with transport, special diet, a meeting room, carrying boxes of books, anticipating needs I didn’t, taking a close interest in my well being, while being utterly unobtrusive. Loved gym, pool, spa - Yvonne Green

Horrible Experience

If wish I would have visited this page before I ordered from Hazelton’s. 96% negative feedback is telling. Unfortunately, my experience with this company is along the same lines. They sent out the wrong sympathy basket. A colleague lost his wife and they included the wrong enclosure. Then they contacted my colleague to advise they would re-ship another basket and to leave the 1st basket outside his door. That was highly insensitive and inappropriate. He lost his wife, he is not concerned with a basket. That conversation should have been with me only (the sender). I paid for a superior basket and they sent out cheap chocolates and garbage dry nuts. The customer service representative (Ryan) I spoke to was unprofessional and unable to articulate what went wrong. There was NO apology, just denials and blaming. I will be providing this feedback to every organization I know so they do not utilize their business. Please beware as my experience was appalling.

Garbage company- don’t waste your money

This company is garbage. Products arrived completely destroyed and they blamed it on ME for not ordering correctly. They said don’t order cheese, fruit, flowers etc because they don’t guarantee it but that is listed NO WHERE when you are in their site ordering. They also told me it was my fault that shipping took 6 days longer than it should of, not sure how they figured that. Substitutions are not the same quality that is listed and the guarantees arrival time was no where in the vicinity of correct. Don’t waste your money. Customer service was garbage as well basically telling me tough luck.

FRAUDULENT

These people are just stealing people's money on the internet with no intention of being a legitimate business. They substitute worthless garbage for what you ordered, hide behind a right to substitution claim on buried on the completely fake website, do not deliver anywhere near when they guarantee delivery by and hide behind some other legalese for that, and then keep your money. There is one crazy woman who answers the customer service line, mocks customers and blocks calls. They need to be raided and put out of business and in prison.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! I bought a birthday basket for my daughter, it went to another person in another state who was nice enough to call me. Hazelton's (aka Bad Co) said my package was delivered to my daughter. Even though I gave them the name and address of the person who got my daughter's gift. They would not even look it up. My daughter ultimately received the person who called me's gift. After all my work they finally resent my daughters gift, and the cake and cheese sent we destroyed and not edible. They DON'T use any dry ice of their food so it comes bad, The cheese cake was also destroyed so the message on it was not readable. Then this company asked if I could package the wrong gift and take it and mail it back. STAY AWAY FROM HAZELTON's!

Terrible experience

This is the 3rd time I have written a review, but I have not been able to find the previous 2 had been posted. My original order was delivered damaged. I attempted to call Hazeltons but was unable to reach anyone. I tried the online chat, but had not response. Finally I emailed customer service. I received a response the next day and was told my order would be reshipped. The site advertises next day delivery; however, neither the original or replacement arrived next day. The replacement was received after a week, and it was also broken. I contacted customer service again via email and was told I could either reship or get a store credit. I said I wanted a refund, and would never order from this company again. I was told a refund was not possible. I have contacted my credit card company and placed a dispute. I have never dealt with such a frustrating company. And I am embarrassed that the recipient was involved in this mess.

WARNING! Do not order anything from this company!!

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. They could care less about their customers! I ordered a cake for my sister's birthday and it arrived four days late after I paid extra for special delivery. After it did not arrive, I called immediately to cancel the order, but no one would answer. I sent an email to cancel the order, but they refused. After that they failed to respond to my numerous emails for a refund. The cake they sent was an absolute mess. It was packaged very poorly and it is not even the cake I ordered. I sent them pictures of what was delivered and again asked for a refund, but they will not respond to you. This is a HORRIBLE company. Stay away and do not let them rip you off with unbelievably BAD service, BAD packaging, BAD delivery, and BAD products! Another reviewer suggested complaining to the Ontario consumer protection and Market Place, I am going to do just that. This is the worst experience ever, I wish I had seen all of these bad reviews before I ordered from this company.

Read the review first regarding their delivery performance in other sites and you will be surprised!

Originally , I have to deal with their US operations and they have tons of negative review. Have U read this reviews beforehand I could've avoided them. It's just like negative review with a "company". How I wish I went the extra effort to read about customer reviews about them. I have a big caution to give to this gift delivery company, Stay Clear of this sh$%!y company. Don't be fooled with google giving you them as first results to gift delivery. Apparently they're SEO marketing expert in making them appear reliable under google search results and that's just it to them. Somebody please put them on notice on consumer complaint agencies in US and Canada.

Our experience with Hazelton's Canada…

Our experience with Hazelton's Canada has also been very disappointing. A gift basket which was sent from my sister who lives in Australia for my birthday has still not been delivered. Customer service told us that the driver could not deliver because there was no one there! Since we live in a condo with 24 hour concierge this is impossible. We have never experienced issues like this with anyone else. Now they are saying that my sister has to pay an extra shipping fee in order for it to be re-sent. I would not recommend this company.
