The Metro Fruit Basket

I ordered a fruit basket and the picture of the basket on the site bore no resemblance to what was delivered. The actual basket was stuffed with tissue and was far from overflowing with fruit. Company reserves the right to substitute product and said tissue was to protect the fruit. Overpriced for what it contained and no customer follow up. Worst basket company

I paid extra for same day delivery

I paid extra for same day delivery. It was delivered the next day. I understand that there is the possibility it be delivered the next day if ordered that day after 11 am, however, then don’t charge the full same day fee. The worst part is I paid $79.03 for a “Handmade Chocolate Dipped Strawberries Apple Basket Small - Approx 16 Strawberries / Organic ” and a cheap, glass, vase like thing painted like a football was delivered! And this was a birthday gift, how embarrassing. I’m requesting a full refund, if not I’ll be disputing this with my credit card.

AWFUL

AWFUL - choose any other company. "Rose" gift basket had the rose substituted for a cheap rotting flower, "brandy truffles" substituted with Almond Roca, basket delivered a day late and the customer service response to complaints was rude and blanket "see T&Cs, we can do this". Also, I am pretty sure they are fudging their own website reviews as you will see duplicates of 5* reviews on there but the review I posted for their site (1*) doesn't seem to have gone up... Wonder why?!

I would give this company a hard miss

I would give this company, and Quinton - the customer service guy - 0 stars if I could. I placed a same day order, and was allowed to choose my delivery date of the same day. The gift didn't arrive so I emailed to ask what had happened. I was told that they cannot make same day deliveries to the address I had chosen. When I asked for a refund as the website had misled me and as they hadn't yet packed or shipped my order, I was told that I couldn't have one. Quinton said that this was because the order included chocolate dipped strawberries, a perishable item that they say isn't allowed a refund. So I then asked for a refund for my order, less the cost of the strawberries - even though they hadn't been packed or shipped yet. Quinton refused because: "this constitutes nearly half the cost of your original order" THIS IS NOT A REASON TO DENY A REFUND!!! Horrendous company. Truly the worst internet company I have dealt with. Their website is misleading at best. At worst it's a complete scam! Now I am totally out of pocket and my child hasn't had the congratulatory gift she was meant to receive. Don't ever use this company.

Scam company

Horrible horrible company. I had ordered a 3 month subscription to receive 6 bottles of European craft beer once a month for 3 months. The first shipment was never delivered, and I received a call from Fedex to say that they would not deliver the package as the beer had broken inside the box and was leaking and they cannot deliver broken alcohol. I contacted Hazelton's and they said they would resend the shipment with a different company, which they did. The resent package did arrive at my house, however of the 6 bottles of beer only 2 of them were sealed and full, the other 4 bottles had leaked over half of their contents (likely due to either the cold or the pressure if they were sent via air). I took photos and sent these to Hazeltons, so they resent 3 bottles of beer which arrived and 1 of these bottles had leaked again. I, again, emailed Hazeltons asking for a refund since they were unable to send my order without it being damaged. To this, they said flat out no, and that the subscription will just have to continue until it's finished. I had sent numerous complaints about the integrity of the company and how if they cannot ship the items as described then I am entitled to a refund. I had given them many chances to resolve this issue but the sales reps (Quinton Hobson and Marcus were the names) refuse to resolve this issue and have dismissed my complaints. I received yet another bottle of beer that was half full and unsealed to which I emailed once more to say that they need to stop sending me damaged packages and they need to issue a refund as I will otherwise initiate a chargeback through Visa as they have not been able to send me what I ordered. I have now sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and will be contacting Visa this afternoon to arrange a chargeback. Hazeltons has clearly faked hundreds of google reviews and I wish I had checked them more thoroughly before ordering as this whole ordeal has been infuriating.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. My gift box was delivered 4 days late and was totally damaged, the food was frozen and the orchid was dead. They take no responsibility at all.

Caution to would be customer!

Caution to would be customer! Terrible experience. Hazelton's or Yorkville's They're one company of morons! I Ordered gift basket for valentines day for my wife. I made sure i paid premium same day delivery by 5pm and it says "GUARANTEED SAME DAY DELIVERY". But what happened they deliver it the next day. I ask customer service (QUINTON) what happened all they said was traffic. Traffic?! what an i-diot. That's why i paid premium shipping so i can be sure it will be delivered same day. They replied what can they do, just suck it up, you're not just the only one. What i bunch of morons. I don't know if they understand their terms and conditions. There goes my report to Better Business Bureau. I Will never be a repeat customer nor recommend this company/store. Beware!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE... this is the conversation with one of the customer representatives this morning, AVOID AT ALL COSTS - cheese arrived warm, looks like its been sitting in a truck overnight, customer service rep refused to escalate my complain to someone that is even half decent.... Hello, I am absolutely disappointed in your company, for having to rely on a simple delivery on valentines day. I got a message saying the package was on its way 7:30 am yesterday and NOTHING WAS DELIVERED TILL THE END OF THE DAY! Which resulted in massive inconvenience and negative consequences. I would like to have one of your company representatives look into this and contact me immediately with an explanation on where the parcel is till this moment! ABSOLUTE RUBBISH

I ordered my daughter a gift basket for her birthday as she is working in NY atm. I don't know why they ask for a delivery date because it was sent four days early (not that that is the issue). The basket delivered was nothing like what is shown on their website. Not one item the same, even the ceramic platter was substituted for a tin tray! Cheap, inferior products were sent. Customer service sent the standard reply. I accepted the T & C's, so too bad for me!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

If I could give this company a negative…

If I could give this company a negative rating, I would. I ordered a cake for my in-laws. Shipping was more than the cake cost, but okay... They received a cake that was totally destroyed. When I emailed their customer service, they insisted they needed a photo of the destroyed cake, which I provided for them. Once that was provided, they they said they couldn’t do anything for me because I chose the wrong shipping option, one that was not recommended. I went back into their website as if I was ordering the cake again, and saw no advice about which option to choose. I contacted customer service again by email and they ignored me. I called today and got a live person who was not particularly friendly, and there was shouting in my he background as I tried to speak with her. After taking my name, email, and phone, she couldn’t locate my order and asked me to call back with the order #. I located that within seconds and called back, only to get a voicemail saying imtbwy were closed and I could leave a detailed message. Then the system hangs up on me with no possibility of leaving a message. Unbelievable. Update: When I finally did get through, they refused to help me, I asked to speak with a supervisor, and he was also unhelpful and would not give me contact information to someone above the level of the supervisor I spoke with.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I’d first like to preface this review by saying I have never given a single bad review to any business before. I am however so disenchanted with this company that I feel an honest review may in fact help someone else from experiencing what I experienced. I received an automated email from Hazelton’s Canada after my purchase asking me to rate the service and I rated it very low. It is interesting to note that my review is not seen on their company website review page. I ordered a gift basket and wine. At the checkout process the order went through. I received a statement from both the courier and Hazelton’s that my order was shipped. Both statements indicated two items were shipped and delivered. The recipient received only one portion of the gift, and the second was never delivered. Upon looking into the matter further it was discovered that Hazelton’s did not process the second portion of the order yet sent me a confirmation saying the whole order was processed and shipped. The recipient of the gift knew in advance that the gift was ordered. Upon talking with the customer service agent I suggested that perhaps they could make up for their error by shipping out a replacement basket which I would gladly pay for but that I would like it to be shipped free of charge. The particular agent was not willing to entertain that idea. I’m hopeful my bad experience will prevent someone else from dealing with this company.

SCAM COMPANY!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Ordered a gift basket for my mom in Canada. Paid $450 which included extra chocolate covered fruit, GUARANTEED RUSH SHIPPING by 12/24 and a super big basket of goodies. Product never showed up! After many multiple attempts of trying to call, e-mail and even message through social media I never once received a response. I then put a claim against them through PayPal. Once again they never responded. Then I escalated the claim directly through PayPal. It was only then (a few days later) that they sent something to my mom (now mid January). And the basket received wasn't what I ordered, didn't have the $50 extra of chocolate covered fruit and certainly didn't get there by 12/24! So they sent PayPal the shipping receipt to prove they sent me something and my claim was then dismissed! I had to call PayPal to reopen the case and give them even more details. What a nightmare! Hazelton's... Horrible people, horrible company, horrible products, horrible service. And the saddest part is that they know EXACTLY what they are doing.

Petty & Crappy Company

What a disgrace of a company. I spent $170 on a small gift basket, bottle of wine and a few cupcakes to be delivered to my friend who's expecting. I don't live back home anymore and it was my only way to send her something to tell her I'm thinking of and am excited for her. The gift basket and wine were delivered just fine, but the cupcakes looked like they'd been thrown around - they were a complete mess and inedible. After bringing this to Hazelton's attention, they sent another box of cupcakes. Days later, they arrived in the SAME way. I reached out and asked for a refund (why bother asking them to send more when they clearly can't do it the first two times). This was the response I got: "Hello Sara, Thank you for your e-mail. While we are sorry to see the condition in which the items were delivered to the recipient, unfortunately we are not able to compensate you for the damages that occurred under these circumstances. As per the terms and conditions you agreed to by placing your order online, we advise all customers against shipping perishable items – that is, any product with a lifespan that is subject to spoilage after a period of time such as fruits, cakes, cheeses and plants – using any shipping method that requires more than one business day' transit. Despite our best efforts, we are not able to guarantee the condition in which products of this nature will be delivered if they remain in transit for longer periods of time. We recommend that customers ship perishable items only if they are willing to pay for/upgrade to the fastest shipping method available during checkout. According to your order confirmation, the shipping method you selected requires more than one business day' transit. We apologize if you find this to be an inconvenience, but we hope that you can at least appreciate our explanation. Regards, Marcus" What a pathetic response, blaming me for not paying for express shipping would've had a different outcome?! What a crock. They would've arrived in the same condition, just quicker! For a company to not refund the $20 for the cupcakes says a lot about how petty, selfish and worthless this company truly is. **Edit: adding below after the company replied with yet another horrible response full of lies** The company claims to take appropriate action, like issuing refunds, IF they’re notified in a timely manner. Well, they were notified immediately because I was angry. I have the email communications to prove it. But they still refused to issue a refund, as small as it was. This company is pathetic.

Grrr

Grrr, once again I wish I'd read reviews. Deceptive website, wording that led me to believe that my item would be shipped same-day. When I contacted them, the response was dismissive as hell. Then I found out that my gift basket was returned to them, yet they refuse to offer a refund or respond to my inquiries. Hopefully Visa can take care of this charge, since they are clearly a huge scam

Absolutely DREADFUL company

Absolutely DREADFUL company. Wish I had read these reviews here before I ordered. 150 dollars down the drain, and they could not care less. Happy to rip you off, it's a total scam of a company, and they'll eventually just block you from speaking to them, rather than deal with you. The terms and conditions would be hilarious if it wasn't money wasted. Possibly the most ridiculous version I've ever seen.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!

I wish I checked their reviews before ordering... They present themselves as a US company, but they ship everything from Canada. They promise quick delivery, but my cake order (for a staggering $45 USD), took 11 days to be delivered... Needless to say that by the time the cake was delivered, it had gotten rotten and was completely destroyed by poor delivery practices. So instead of sending a cake to impress and thank our recipients, we were actually deeply embarrassed as the cake was actually thrown in the dumpster... I have written to Hazelton's Customer Service 5 times and twice I contacted them on their online chat - we never got a reply... This company is a ghost company and a big scam - we feel deeply disappointed, let down and obviously out-of-pocket for an order that was thrown in the dumpster. I have never encountered such bad customer service (non-existent) and such awful, poor treatment to consumers. They're simply taking consumers for a ride. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEIR FANCY WEBSITE, ORDER FROM ANOTHER HONEST COMPANY INSTEAD.

I'm in Australia and ordered a "Christmas basket" for our Aunt. It arrived on the 31st of December (defeating the purpose)!!....and with NO card/message. Customer service replied to my complaint with "Christmas is a busy time of year"! What the.... Pathetic service

Horrible customer service!

Be very careful ordering from this company! They do not follow through on the free delivery if you make one order over $100 that may have baskets going to two different addresses in the location or municipality where they are being delivered, even if your whole order is substantially more than the $100 limit. They will replace what you select for your basket without any confirmation or thought about with what they are selecting as replacement items. So soft fruits ordered for an elderly recipient will be replaced with apples. Healthier choices such as hummus will be replaced with chocolate. Chocolate covered strawberries will be replaced with apples. Deliveries will be delivered late if you make multiple purchases in one delivery, even though they are going to the same address. Rotten fruit may be included in the baskets, as what happened to one of our basket recipients. Finally, even if customer service tells you one thing (e.g., "if your(sic) getting delivery charges I suggest you place the order and email us so that we can refund you the amount of delivery for ground shipping"), they will ignore what they promise you and stick you with an unwarranted delivery charge. Also, do not try calling their 1-800 customer service number. You will be able to leave messages, but they will not call you back. Very poor after service to go along with their breaking of promises. Again, caveat emptor! I wish that someone else had been able to place a review similar to this if they had encountered the same ruined gift giving that one of our families suffered. Thanks for nothing, Hazelton's.
