An airline with dodgy practices

I have booked tickets through an agent 12 months ago for 4 people. Tickets/flights were canceled on 05 May, but haven't recieved refund to-date. The airline (through the agent), don't provide any more information, other than we haven't processed your request. They don't advise, how long it will take to process the refund. This is an airline with questionable practices. Making customers waiting anxiously. Don't know, whether they are waiting for the agents to go under. So that they don't have to pay the tickets anymore.

Still waiting on a refund after 6 months

Our flight was cancelled on 26th April and we have still not received a refund. This is the worst service we have ever dealt with and will definitely never book with them again.

Expedia is still waiting on our refund from Srilankan Airlines

Edited on 10/20/20: Yayy! We finally got our refund in full amount last week! Not sure because someone from Srilankan or Expedia saw this review or responded to our too many calls and emails. :) Thank you so much! :) Written on 9/29/2020: It's been 4-5 months since my husband and I are trying to get our refund for our layover flight tickets from Colombo, Srilanka to Male, Maldives. This was supposed to be our honeymoon trip. The trip was canceled due to COVID and Maldives closed the whole country. I called and emailed Srilankan Airlines. The airline stated that we would get our refund in 12 weeks. A few weeks ago I called again and they said the refund had not been processed because Srilankan Airlines in Srilanka had not approved the refund. They also mentioned that they have told the agent (Expedia) to process our refund. Another response via email is "Kindly contact your Agent to get the tickets refunded as we have given the authority to the agent." This is weird that Srilankan Airlines wants Expedia to do the refund with Expedia's money, not theirs. I just talked to Expedia and they said they are still waiting on our refund from Srilankan Airlines and they have contacted the airlines a few weeks ago and again today. Srilankan Airlines, would you please process the refund to Expedia so we can get our refund?

How to get a refund....

I had booked to travel to Sri Lanka for the cricket, but that changed because of Covids. The airline promised a refund, but for 6 months kept assuring me it was being dealt with. Finally, I issued a legal threat "If this payment is not received within the next 10 days, upon legal advice received, this will become a legal matter initially in the form of a Small Claims procedure. You will notice that I have copied this correspondence to both The Civil Aviation, your regulator and operator of the ATOL protection scheme, and to Saroja Sirisena the Sri Lankan High Commissioner. Please demonstrate some belated professionalism and sense of customer responsibility and resolve this matter immediately. They then refunded me. Clearly they think they can just fob 90% of people off and they will go away. The minority who cut up rough, they pay back. They are a disgrace and I will never use them again...I suggest a similar course of action for others who are having unsatisfactory experiences.

I had cancelled my trip with Srilankan…

I had cancelled my trip with Srilankan Airlines and applied for a refund(UL/RR/90082). I got refund for my ticket and my partner ticket. However I didnt get refund for my kids tickets. Inspite of my several reminders Srilankan Airlines never replied back with proper reply. They said they have already done the refund(not for my kids). I even tried calling Colombo office but their response has been poor. I will never ever fly in this cheating airlines

I cancelled my flights

I cancelled my flights, because of the Covid situation , and Sri Lankan Goverment entry restrictions, which currently prohibits non Sri Lankan nations entering the country. Sri Lankan sent a payment to my credit card, which fell well short of the purchase price of the tickets. There was no explanation how they arrived at that amount. They’re not replying to emails or answering their phones. They’re also charging Sri Lankan nationals exorbitant prices for repatriation and quarantine. Steer Clear

No refund since March 2020

Still waiting on my refund from a flight cancelled in March 2020. No response from the refund team since May 2020, despite my constant emails and complaints. Having to go to try and get my credit card or travel insurance to step in now to try to get this resolved, as sri lankan airlines clearly have no intention on helping. Please avoid.

Still awaiting my refund

Still awaiting my refund. Am owed £2000 After flights were cancelled. Never going to use them again. Emailed and emailed says will refund and nothing. Bunch of scammers. Will not be rebooking my flights or going to sri lanka after this. Such a shame. Will be posting this on every social media site available. Useless

The worst airline I've ever dealt with... NEVER AGAIN

Still waiting a refund after 7 months THEY cancelled my flights. on their website they are bald enough to say they refunded everyone, but if you take a look to their FB page you will see that it's all lies... the worst airline I've ever dealt with... NEVER AGAIN

Horrible experience

We had a flight booked for May 4. On April 23, the airline cancelled it. We followed all the necessary procedures for a refund. It has now be 119 days with no money returned. They keep saying it will be a couple of weeks. At 18 weeks and counting, that is well more than a "couple". I'm honestly fearful that we may never have this money returned and it's so frustrating trying to get a person to respond with some truthful information.

Would give them 0 stars if i could - NO REFUND

Would give them 0 stars if i could. Appalling customer service - No refund during covid-19 It has now been 19 weeks since my flight was cancelled and I have not received a refund. At first I was told that the refund would take a couple of weeks, then I was told 9 weeks and then I was told by August. It has now been 19 weeks and they have been nothing but rude. My friend was also blocked by them on Twitter just for asking questions about the refund. DO NOT FLY WITH SRI LANKAN AIRLINES

Holiday plans cancelled

We were due to fly to Colombo in March 2020, the flight was cancelled due to Covid and we requested a refund online after many frustrating calls. In the end we have applied via our credit card for a refund. We are not at all impressed as the original email said we would get a refund in 14 days. They owe us £1000 .

UL/RR/93696 | Requested Date - 16.03.2020(UTC)

We were due to fly at a cost of over £4,000 in April. I was promised a refund in May. Phone lines are now down for refunds and I'm still waiting and nobody replies to my emails. I wrote to the CEO. Still no reply. I have now written to the Aviation Authority and they have promised to get back to me. Fingers crossed! Why does this airline company have the right to hold on to our money. Very angry.

Refund Request Ref:UL/RR/100435 Booking ref:NAKUND Having sent numerous emails requesting an update on my refund process, I am now using Trustpilot in the hope that some positive action will be taken. It is now 8 weeks since our onward British Airways flight (We flew from Colombo to Heathrow with an included connection to Glasgow) booked through Sri Lankan Airlines was cancelled and we have still not received a refund for that section of our travel. The last correspondence I received on 10th May confirmed that our refund was in the ‘refund process’ and that an approximate amount for the cancelled part of our journey would be credited to the credit card used for the original payment. This has yet to happen and I feel we have waited long enough and have been treated very unfairly. I am also disappointed in the poor service and lack of courtesy we have received from Sri Lankan Airlines as they have failed to respond to my emails. From reading other reviews on this site I gather that I am not alone in receiving poor service. - this does not reflect well on Sri Lanka and its people who do not deserve such bad publicity,

This airline is cheating their…

This airline is cheating for its customers. They owe me a refund since 15th March 2020. They don't even reply to my emails and answer my calls. Very poor customer service. Don't ever book with them

Easily the worst Airlines

Easily the worst Airlines Very bad customer service. Their customer service team and hotline are by far the worst I have ever experienced. Please never use this airline. These people will show how not to run an airline easily. Not worth for anything.

Outdated joke of an airline

Myself and my husband have always dreamed of a honeymoon to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, so we chose Sri Lanka airlines as it seemed the better option at the time. When we arrived on board (the plane was delayed) a very full plane sat down to enjoy a nice drink. Tried to turn the entertainment systems on and they both were not working. I tried to get help but the flight attendant couldn't help us. So we had to sit through a 13hour flight with nothing. I also tried to use and buy the internet from my phone but it charged me and also didn't work. I changed our seats on the inbound flight hoping the seat change would give us better luck but no. Same sorry excuse of technology. So on return I made a complaint to the customer service and received emails back from a lady called Indeevari. Well she was next to useless. Very bad attitude and could only offer a voucher for the onboard shop. After many emails back and forth we had no option but to accept. She didn't mention that you actually had to be on board and couldn't just send them direct to us. We also had to use them within 12months. We we had been saving a very long time for our honeymoon and can't just grab a flight to Sri Lanka willy nilly. She completely wasted my time and put more undue stress and anxiety on myself and my husband. If it wasn't for Sri Lanka itself being amazing Sri Lankan airline would have ruined a dream holiday/honeymoon. Never again will I fly with this joke of an airline. We were not the only couple to have trouble either there were many systems not working and people were not happy. A hole row of 4 wasn't working on the way home. A whole family with 2 young children had nothing for 13hrs!
