Absolutely disappointing! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!

Hazelton's Canada receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 97% of reviewers expressing dissatisfaction. While some customers appreciate the concept of gift baskets and the selection available, the majority report significant issues with service and product quality. Many people experience late deliveries, with orders arriving well past the promised dates, leading to frustration and disappointment. Reviewers frequently mention receiving incorrect or substituted items that do not match their original orders, often of lower quality. Complaints about poor customer service and a lack of accountability for mistakes are common, with several consumers feeling misled by the company's claims. Overall, the sentiment is overwhelmingly negative, with many urging others to avoid this company.

What I ordered in Toronto and what arrived in Minneapolis in December 2021were like chalk is to cheese. A total embarrassment! Virtually nothing was correct, especially the cheap sparkling wine that was supposed to be an “upgrade” cabernet. Contacting Hazeltons was a one-way conversation as they failed to respond. My first and final purchase.
Hazelton cakes a dangerous move- cakes are not delivered in a secure box ir on a cake board- Canpar just leaves items on the doorstep to melt and be destroyed. Unfortunately my poor old mum 94 doesnt know how to use an iphone- so I couldnt get her to photograph the messy culprit- I live in Germany. Thanks Hazeltons... you taught me its the thought that counts... so thanks but no thanks.
I ordered 3 Oreo cakes in 2021, but received 3 coffee cakes. I was told that because of covid, times are tough and they're trying their best. They were sorry but wouldn't replace/refund the purchase. So I tried to be understanding. I tried again for Mother's day 2022, and again received the wrong items. But this time, the response I received was, "Our policy allows us to make substitutions, sometimes *entire* contents of an order may be substituted. In the terms and conditions you selected at the time of purchase, you are not entitled to refunds or compensation under such circumstances, as per our refund policies." This is Hazelton's policy. Any purchase from Hazelton is a gamble what might actually arrive. Buyer beware.
Do not use this company! After several calls and having to reach out to a supervisor they only offered a 50% refund - I sent some chocolate covered strawberries to my mother-in-law in Windsor who is 85 years old and her son has autism and I was unable to provide a photograph because she does not know how to take pics and I live in Mississauga. They actually doubted that they could have been rotten, but they were. The customer service person was really really rude to me as well. I will tell anyone to please don't waste your money - there are lots of other places to order from.
I did not receive the cake and the cheese I ordered. This is what I received and I quote, "Due to the high volume of orders being processed, we are not always able to contact customers ahead to advise them of substitutions. By placing an order you accepted our terms and conditions, and thus agreed that the order may consist of products that differ from the original product description. Furthermore, you agreed that you are not entitled to refunds or compensation under such circumstances, as per our refund policies: "NOT AS DESCRIBED & SUBSTITUTIONS - Where a package is 'not as described on our website' and/or we have substituted item(s) in a gift/gift basket that are in compliance with our 'substitution policy'." Meaning, they did not care. They are incredibly unethical and can charge whatever they want and admit to sometimes not delivering it. I have given them second chances etc and I am absolutely disappointed in their lack of concern or care. Please stay away from this company according to their agreement with their customers. They have the right to not deliver what you ordered or may have been charged for.
DONT order from this place, very rude customer service they hung up on me. Gift will not be delivered until after the Holiday and my son will not be home when Delivered will be returned to sending then I will get refund.sad I ordered it on March 26 2022 for April 15th delivery and they still couldnt handle it. Please dont waste your time with this company
Worst online purchase ever. Stale inferior products. Not what was ordered. Delivered over a MONTH late. Near impossible to track down. I see they have been adding to all the horrible reviews. It seems like they write their own good reviews. They have been exposed. Look up CBC Marketplace “ ‘It's disappointment in a basket': Toronto gift company delivers spoiled fruit, dead flowers”
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I ordered a basket 3 weeks ago with Hazeltons. Paid via etransfer as their credit card processing wasnt working on the website. The e-transfer was delivered. OVER 3 weeks later I find out the basket was NEVER delivered. I order about 100 baskets a year. I tried Hazeltons to give them a chance, never again. And will be urging all my colleagues who order 1000+ baskets, to stop immediately. They claimed they never received my payment, even though it left my account AND i have ordered with them before. They keep asking me to pay twice despite their accounting side losing my money. The absolute worst experience ever.
We had a tough time with our order and customer service was very focused on regurgitating their company fine print rather than helping or caring. We ordered a custom sympathy basket for a bereavement gift and long story short, our fresh fruit and flowers sat for 5 days with a courier and were delivered wilted and without an upgraded item we paid for. Can you imagine the embarrassment? Dying flowers and fruit delivered for a death in the family!!! Be careful ordering as substitutions are their right. Paying for an upgrade can be substituted for a cheaper in stock item and they will not refund or make up the difference. Sounds like it is a regular occurrence with other reviews and should be reported to the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Simply put, with many good e-commerce websites, stock levels should be listed to protect customers. Why they don’t have this is obvious … they can make more money off of you and hide behind fine print while they do it. In addition, their “free shipping” is with a courier company that does not deliver on weekends! How is that even possible to provide in their line of business?!? Our flowers and fruit were ordered on a Thursday and shipped that same day. We expected the delivery on Friday but with whatever complications and adding a long weekend, the delivery did not take place until late Tuesday. 5 days?!? I could have walked it there faster. Very disappointed at the lack of compassion and help from their customers service. Quick to reply with “copy and paste” fine print. Responses with no solutions or help. My advice is go elsewhere if you want personal service and not to be taken advantage of. This business is only about profit and they will do all they can to pad their bottom line at the expense of your thoughtful order. There are lots of flower and gift companies out there, so GO ELSEWHERE! TO ADD MArch 31st after Hazelton's reply: Again a very robotic response - they did not even address flowers sat for 5 days in a shipping warehouse but focused on the substitution of the expensive cutting board. They should give a refund on the item that was not upgraded ... just a testament to a big company that doesnt care. AGAIN GO ELSEWHERE
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! One star only because I can't give zero. They are a TERRIBLE company, do not deliver what they say they will, do not respond to your complaints and do not do anything to make the situation better. In our case we sent 2 baskets (roughly $160 total) to an address in Tampa Bay. We were luckier than some in that part of 1 basket was delivered. They would not correct it and would not deliver the missing basket. We are in the process of working with Mastercard to dispute the charges.
Appalling customer service. I ordered three gift baskets before Christmas. One person received the wrong item addressed to somebody in another province. One person received nothing (as of the second week of February). Hazelton's take no responsibility and tell me to raise it with the courier company (who are equally useless and say that it is showing due for delivery on 21 December, but think that maybe it was damaged and returned to sender). Since Hazelton's has my money, they simply don't seem to care. Under no circumstances would I ever buy from them again. I have tried to leave a similar review on their own site, but they appear to delete it. I tried everything to resolve this but their customer service is appalling.
I ordered a NY original cheesecake as a Christmas gift for someone specifically because they love NY cheesecake. However, a coffee cake was delivered to them instead. When I contacted customer service at Hazelton's, I could not reach a live person and was forced to resort to emailing them instead. The rep who responded, Loveleen, then had the audacity to respond as follows: "Substitutions are actually quite common within the gifting and gift basket industry, as products are constantly changing on an ongoing basis after product details and photos have been published. Some items may be temporarily unavailable due to various reasons beyond our immediate control, under which circumstances we reserve the right to substitute such items with similar products of equal or greater value to ensure that orders are delivered in a timely manner without incurring further delays. Degrees of substitution may vary. In some rare instances, the entire contents of an order may be substituted." Further back and forth with this representative ultimately resulted in nothing at all being done on their end. No acknowledgement that an error was made, no apology, no refund. Nothing. They never even contacted me prior to sending out the coffee cake to let me know about the change. If they had, I would have cancelled the order but this option was not even offered. They simply decided that my recipient would receive a completely different product at their discretion. I have never experienced this before. How does a company simply decide to send a completely different product than the one ordered without notification?? What a horrendous approach to take to a repeat customer. Good job Hazelton's. You've just lost a customer over a $30 cheesecake. Do not shop here if you actually want or expect the product that you ordered.
Please do not order from this company. Customer service is unaccountable for their product or service and substituted the main item I chose the package for (half yard glass) for a cheap beer. I would have selected a much cheaper package if I knew the glass wouldn’t be delivered. They said they are allowed to substitute per their site but their site says EQUAL OR GREATER value. Amsterdam beer is not the same value as the glass and wooden holder. Delivery was late for all recipients despite being able to select the delivery date on the site (if you can’t fulfil the order don’t allow 48 hours option for delivery). Of 4 gifts ordered: none arrived as scheduled, 1 received it in time for Christmas, 3 had tracking info sent, 2 were substituted for much lesser value, 1 wasn’t even in the same crate package as another and was simply cello wrapped. I cannot stress enough not to order from them. Pls read all the reviews and know this is not an isolated incident with this company.
Not Sure why all the bad reviews.. I ordered my 6th time and basket was delivered on time and intact exactly as presented on the website.. I got worried from the bad reviews but hazeltons always delivered on time and accurately. My only down side would be customer service is slow in replying and they reply via email only as their phone is a recorded message
Will never order from this company again I chose Hazelton's for a gift basket for my brother-in-law and his partner for Christmas that contained beer, food items, and I added on a bouquet of flowers. Hazelton's committed to delivering the package within two days, by Dec 23. There were multiple issues with the gift upon arrival and delivery was late, which probably contributed to the the following issues. 1) I made my order on Dec 18. Delivery was committed to 2 days, to be delivered by Dec 23. Delivery was not made until Dec 29. Using shipment tracking software, I could see that the package was sitting in Calgary for 5 days when the package was reported as being "in transit". If the package was sitting in a warehouse or truck for 5 days in lower than -30C weather, this is likely when the items in the package froze. On December 23 I received a notice from Hazelton's that the package had shipped. It was supposed to arrive on Dec 23. On Dec 28 I contacted Hazelton's with this inquiry: "I have been tracking this package (see photo below for order number) and I don’t believe it’s arrived yet at it’s destination although I was told shipping would take 2 days when I placed the order. I scheduled the order for Dec 23. Could I please have an update on when it will be delivered? It included flowers so I’m worried if the flowers will still be in good condition by the time they arrive. Thank you." I didn't hear back that day. I wrote Hazelton's again on Dec 29th when I had received the update below (see #2 and #3) from my brother-in-law who received the package on the 29th. 2) When my brother-in-law received the gift, they reported that the beer was frozen and that it had exploded all over the contents of the gift basket. Imagine receiving what was supposed to be a nice gift, and then you need to throw out parts of it and spend time cleaning up the rest. The beer was not consumable. I submitted a photo of the cans to Hazelton's that you could see are dented. When beer freezes in cans it expands and explodes/leaks out. Hazelton's reported this back when I sent in the photos of the beer cans: "We have received the images provided, upon thorough review of which we have decided that the condition in which the items arrived does not warrant compensation. We understand that the way in which the products were jostled in transit may not have allowed for the most ideal presentation/appearance upon delivery of the order, but based on the images contents of the items themselves were indeed protected by their exterior packaging, which the recipient can still use/consume if they wish to do so." after which I replied: "It wasn’t just the appearance that was impacted. I was informed by the person that received the package that the beer had exploded over the package. Since the beer had opened during transit due to freezing it is not consumable and the package was supposed to be focused on the beer. Also the flowers were dead. The customer also had to clean beer off of everything in the package as they said it had exploded all over the package. If full compensation is not an option, what about partial compensation for the beer and full compensation for the flowers that had to be thrown out? When choosing a courier, Hazelton's should choose a company that can deliver on time and prevent their baskets from freezing - especially in Canada, in the winter." The basket was called "Holiday Craft Beer & Sweet Treat Gift Set" and the beer was the focal point of the gift. 3) I had added on a seasonal bouquet of flowers for $39.99. The flowers were frozen and dead upon arrival. 4) I asked for a full or partial refund and I was told that since I did not have photos of the rest of the damage, and since my photos of the damaged beer cans were not good enough, that no refund could be given. My response was as followed, but I was told that nothing could be done without more photos. "The cans in the photo are dented and when beer cans freeze they expand and break open. I have already informed you that the flowers were dead and that the person receiving them threw them out. Hazelton's shouldn't expect people receiving gifts to take photos to document if something is wrong with them, and me as the sender can't expect that either. Hazelton's expectation should be that the package arrives as described when it's ordered and, in the time that was described for delivery." I will never use this company again and I recommend that others do not order from them.
I ordered a gift basket with vodka and Red Bull for a friend. It was not delivered. I’ve contacted them about a refund multiple times and had no response. Don’t waste your time trying to phone them or email them either. There also isn’t anyone on their online chat. I’ve opened a case with PayPal. EDIT: The company resent the gift basket to the hotel days later, after the recipient checked out. They knew this, since the first gift basket got rejected by the hotel the first time because the guest had already left. They just wanted the tracking number to show that it had been delivered so that my PayPal dispute wouldn’t be accepted. Eventually, I did receive a PARTIAL refund of $40. Not even half of the original cost.
The worst customer service received from an extremely incompetent and rude Jincy. I had placed an order with two delivery dates as they were for two different occasions. The website clearly allows you to do this as I was able to pick two separate delivery dates. When the first item was not delivered, I was told that it was not possible to deliver on two separate dates although it clearly states this on the order invoice. Jincy was so unhelpful, and when asked to refund the first delivery (as the occasion has passed), refused rudely even though the delivery will not take place for another week. It is actually unbelievable how bad this company is. They have forever lost my custom and would never recommend this company to anyone!
After I asked several times and they lied to me, they finally sent me several disgusting items as so-called "substitutions", 6 weeks late. They then refused any refund or return. Thieves and liars.
SCAM ALERT! This is not a legit business. There are no gift baskets and the products come from the local grocery chain. This mess of brownies was supposed to be Nanaimo bars. Suspect they are Little Debbie brownies. Asked for a refund and was told that somewhere hidden on their site is a clause that states they can substitute any product. I never received a SINGLE EMAIL from the moment I ordered nor through their little switcheroo to delivery. 100% scam. Here's an article I found. https: /www. cbc. ca/amp/1.5360206
