Hazelton's Canada receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 97% of reviewers expressing dissatisfaction. While some customers appreciate the concept of gift baskets and the selection available, the majority report significant issues with service and product quality. Many people experience late deliveries, with orders arriving well past the promised dates, leading to frustration and disappointment. Reviewers frequently mention receiving incorrect or substituted items that do not match their original orders, often of lower quality. Complaints about poor customer service and a lack of accountability for mistakes are common, with several consumers feeling misled by the company's claims. Poor Customer Service

I placed an order and although I opted for 2 day delivery (I will admit I missed the part about "business days"), their web page advertises shipments 7 days a week. I ordered for a delivery for a Monday assuming after they confirmed my order that it would be shipped on Saturday. My order included cupcakes and a balloon. I received notification that my order was shipped on the Thursday before. Because they confirmed it was 2 business days, it was going to arrive on the Monday, which meant the cupcakes and balloon would be on the delivery truck over the weekend and arrive 4 days after shipping. Needless to say, the cupcakes were not fresh and the balloon deflated. I had included a bottle of wine in my order so the whole thing was over $100 with shipping. I criticized that no one thought to point out to me my mistake so that I may change the delivery date (which i would have done to avoid a ruined birthday surprise and even paid extra), but there was no response and so they will take your money and order but not care about customer service. Since preparing this review, the order arrived (March 13, 2023) - the CUPCAKES WERE TOSSED ALL OVER THE BOX WITH ICING EVERYWHERE AND UNEDIBLE AND THE WINE WAS A SUBSTITUTE FROM THE SHIRAZ I ORDERED TO SOMETHING NOT EVEN A SHIRAZ AND NOT SOMETHING THE BIRTHDAY PERSON WILL EVEN DRINK.

They lie

They lie. They have only been in business since 2014 NOT 1980 as trustpilot was told. Hazeltons now has over 50 different business names and websites ALL with horrible reviews. What you see is NOT what you get. They do not answer phones or emails. You will never get your money back. SOME of their new business names are: Hazelton's The Baskets Group Yorkville Gift Baskets Toronto Blooms BroCrates The Hops Collective Good 4 You Gifting Kosher Heart & Thorn The North Pole Co Monthly Sommelier Mutts & Mousers Yorkville's New York City Baskets Blooms International Inc Pairings Club Toronto Baskets Beer N Grub Gift Baskets Ottawa Gift Baskets Montreal Gift Baskets Birbaby Baskets New Jersey Blooms Boston Baskets And they keep adding.

Don’t waste your money

The gift basket was delivered 4 days before my requested delivery date and left on the porch because my friend was away. The Champagne I paid extra for was substituted for a Cheap Costco brand. Customer Service was unapologetic. Don’t waste your money. There are many better gift basket delivery services out there.

If I could give a 0*, I would

If I could give a 0*, I would. I ordered a Baby Gift Basket in Toronto and paid shipping to Costa Rica. When our friends received the Gift Basket, no items were baby related; they received three bottles of massage oil, cookies, and a Teddy Bear. I paid $300 for this Gift Basket and the items in it wasn't even $50. When I contact Customer Service, their response was that they have the right to make substitutions if their International Partners do not have the items as noted in their policy and advised me that I should have read it prior to purchasing. I paid for an International Shipping charge and the Basket was done in Costa Rica. Stay away from this company as they do not honour what is ordered.

Thieves

I ordered through Vancouver Baskets so be careful as, once you start researching, multiple gift basket companies are operated by The Gift Group founded by Mark Roberts and all have terrible reviews. I ordered a birthday gift basket with bottle, cake and balloon for my son. They claim they couldn’t deliver due to an incomplete address, although the address I provided is a staffed mail desk for UBC campus students and I gave them proof of multiple other successful deliveries to that address (including Amazon deliveries the same day!) Wanted a $30 redelivery fee and so rude and unapologetic I asked for my money back. They are refusing to refund in full despite providing no goods or service. My son had no birthday gift and I’ve been left angry and upset. SCAMMERS I’m in the UK and a fraudulent business like this would not be allowed to keep operating.

Cannot deliver

Add me to the list. Sham of a company. Ordered and paid extra for same day delivery of a birthday cake to a business. They sent me a note that it was 'on the way' after 6 p.m. and after business was done. Will not pay for this order and will never order from them again.

RUN, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Wish I’d read reviews before placing an order. Looks like my experience is a common theme. Delivered 2 weeks late, full of mold and 11 out of 15 items were delivered damaged and/or unusable. Spent hours on the phone to the courier trying to find out why it was so late as Hazelton’s Canada wouldn’t help. Have been given less than 30% of the total cost of the gift basket as a refund (which I rejected). The CSR I dealt with (Steven) was horrible to deal with, wouldn't give me an opportunity to discuss better compensation or pass my complaint to a manager, and lied about the refund process. Hazelton's Canada can file a damage report with their courier so any refunds should be reimbursed, which should therefore not result in losses to Hazelton's; however, they are either keeping the reimbursements or are too lazy to submit a claim. Absolutely atrocious service from both Hazelton’s Canada and their courier Canpar. Would give negative rating if I could. Google reviews shows photos of the received products.

Rustic Meat and Cheese Crate

Received the Rustic Meat and Cheese Crate gift basket from relatives in England before Christmas. The Wagener's salamis and Castello soft cheeses were fine, but the pepperoni sticks (300 grams) had been replaced by a single pack (35 grams) of Jack Link Teriyaki slices, a snack product which costs less than 3.00 at gas stations. Contacted Hazelton's via chat message and email, and have received no reply. Items on website are luxurious and elegant, but photos are misleading when recipient does not receive similar quality items. Have not informed UK relatives of this problem, but they have been misled and paid far more than the value of the items described. Would not recommend this company.

i am absolutely floored in how horrible this company is

i spent almost $10,000 in baskets. the baskets that arrived, arrived incorrectly. they mixed up all the cards with incorrect recipient names/company names. in addition to this, they were unable to deliver a basket, and refused to provide a full refund. when i asked them to redirect the basket, she told me there would be a $50 charge. i was dealing with Regina G (nightmare of a person)

Complete FRAUD

Complete FRAUD. BUYER BEWARE. I ordered door to door service Gift Basket. I chose from a list of products and was very specific. PROBLEMS (1) it had to be picked up at a depot when I live in a large city, (2) they DIDN’T send anything I ordered but an assortment of different products, (3) the products were low value (Walmart/dollar store). No customer service and did not allow exchange or refund.

TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED

TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED Ordered The Ultimate Beer Tasting Gift Basket on December 5th for delivery on Dec 20. Payment taken immediately. Basket delivered on Dec 29. The late delivery by Canpar was the least of the issues. Nearly all the basket contents were substituted with inferior products. The food in the basket was close to the best before date and the chocolate had a best before date of 9/24/22, three months passed the best before. The basket was to have a wooden 6 Beer box for travel. This was "substitute" for a cardboard beer container. The beer flight board was a cheese board and the 4 assorted beer flight glasses were 4 identical Mugs of which 1 was cracked. There was no card included in the package with a Christmas Greeting. After complaining to Customer Service about the issues, received an email detailing their substitution policy. This policy according to Hazelton's says they can do what they like when it comes to substitutions.

Another unsatisfied customer

Another unsatisfied customer. I have failed to read the reviews. I ordered 2 baskets to be delivered to 2 different recipients. One in BC, and one for Ontario. Ontario order was delivered the following day (delivery date was the Dec 22 and it got there as per delivery date). The shipping box had the correct recipient information but the content of the box was meant for an individual in Waterloo. Obviously, the wrong item was placed inside. I have emailed Hazelton about the issue; no response to date. The item for BC (delivery date of Dec 22nd), yet to arrive. I am beyond frustrated. I will never order from this company again.

I too wish I had read these reviews…

I too wish I had read these reviews before placing the order. I ordered a "Gift for HER" for my daughter in Canada for Xmas, put a message to go on the card, and paid for extra items to be added to the gift. It arrived quickly, but more of a "Gift for Him" with the pink tool kit replaced with a mens BBQ Kit, no message on the card and none of the extra items I selected and paid for were what I selected except the champagne. If you need to replace an item in a HER gift pack at least make it relevant!!! Very disappointed as the whole reason I chose the gift was for the female toolkit for her. Do not recommend!!!

Mediocre Contents, Terrible Customer Service

I recently used Hazelton's for my Canadian client gift baskets, and spent roughly $2,000 on them. Some arrived without issue, though the contents were not nearly as premium as I would have expected for the amount I paid for "upgrades". One client received the wrong basket (and much lower value), with a card addressed to someone else. When he advised me of this, I contacted Hazelton's and had a customer service rep named Nate explain to me over several emails how I must have made a mistake when I selected the basket. When I provided a photo from my client of the basket he received, and screen captures of the basket I paid $240 for, I stopped getting replies. Nothing by email, nothing by voicemail. There are so many gift basket options out there, I'm not sure how Hazelton's intends to compete long-term with such a weak value proposition and terrible customer service.

additional charges and not delivered when booked

i ordered an expensive hamper with an additional bottle of fizz, for a very special occasion - in plenty of time & made it clear the date was important. I noticed an additional charge of £13.43 had been taken from my credit card the next day. I complained and was pointed to the small print that said they could apply more charges if they deem it too remote (Newfoundland). They did not tell me - just took the money. The hamper was not delivered on the day booked - and they didn't tell me. When i contacted then they said there were 'unusual weather conditions' which there were not - roads were all open and no snow (which is unusual!). the hamper has still not arrived but the occasion it was meant for has been missed anyway. I would never use or recommend this company and wish i'd looked here rather than just on their own, very filtered reviews

Do not use this company under any…

Do not use this company under any circumstances. They are crooks. Their 'customer service' is rude and threatening. I have never in my life been treated by a company as badly as this, and I am in my 6th decade! I tried to cancel my order immediately after making it, as I had realised I'd been scammed (their contact phone didn't work, there was no provision for gift cards, the reviews said the actual hampers bore no resemblance to what was pictured on their website). Even though the order had not been prepared or shipped, Hazeltons refused to cancel the order and shipped it anyway. They refused to have the goods sent back to them when I tried to arrange this through the courier company and said under no circumstances would they issue a refund. When I said there were protections against consumer fraud, they said, 'Yeah, good luck with that'. Well, luckily my credit card agreed with me that they are crooks so I have been reimbursed anyway. NEVER use this company

I wish I had read these reviews before…

I wish I had read these reviews before I ordered a gift from overseas. Customer service is dreadful, and they willingly blame others - like the delivery company. They are quick to take money for 'resending' but don't resend, or come up with an excuse like no-one answered the door (when there is a reception area to take parcels). I will never use this company again. It's been two months to get a simple gift delivered. Never again!

So bad its actually laughable!

So bad its actually laughable! Ordered for a friend in Canada. I'm in the UK. What was delivered was cheap, disgusting and immediately thrown in the bin by the recipient. The company refused to give a refund. If this company were based in the UK, they would have been closed down, long before now. Complete scammers
