A very strange case

A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????

Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

WORSE ELECTRICITY COMPANY I HAVE EVER HAD

Have been in a contract with this outfit for twelve months and am so glad to be rid. Nightmare from day one. Didin't receive welcome pack online. Put in loads of meter reads but consistently got underestimated bills except for the summer one for over Β£900!!!!! Spent hours on the phone only to be told I wasn't putting the readings in at the right time but there was no proper bill dating system with them. Some of the customer service personnel didn't have a clue what they were talking about, after nine months one of them actually tried to blame my previous supplier for a wrong reading when in actual fact that was about the only thing that was right. They took a direct debit payment out of my account three weeks after my contract finished with them and it has taken me five weeks to get money owed to me. DO NOT SIGN UP TO THIS COMPANY. Update - I have just had an email telling me to contact them as my direct debit has been cancelled and I need to set it up again - hello my contract finished on October 10th!!!!!!!!!!

I was with this company for 1 year

I was with this company for 1 year. I left because they doubled my monthly direct debit even though I was hundreds of pounds over paid. I rang and asked them not to increase my payment. They agreed and then took the money anyway from my account without permission. I changed energy supplier and am now in an unbelievable situation. They have deleted all my gas readings from my account and have sent me a final bill in which they have actually made fictitious readings. I do have my original statements and so I will be able to show what they have done to the Ombudsman. But who wants to have to go to the Ombudsman? Take my advice and steer well clear of this company. They are crooks.

AVOID AT ALL POSSIBLE COSTS!!

AVOID AT ALL POSSIBLE COSTS!! My account has been closed since the 8th of August. My refund wasn't sent to the finance department until the 11th of October. I was told it would be processed within 30 days. I still have not had a refund from them and their customer service is appalling! My complaint was brushed off then ignored when I replied that it was not acceptable to be waiting so long. I was then told by a representative that the complaint was "resolved" as it had been responded to and passed on to the finance team! I am truly disgusted by the service and would not recommend them to my worst enemies!

Very frustrated by unacceptable "customer service"

I write further to my review of 23 October 2018 in response to which Economy Energy suggested I contact them through Web Chat. Having been unable to identify where on Economy Energy's website I can find Web Chat, I have again emailed and called. I was finally told on 1 November that a request had been passed to the finance team for the refund of my overpayment to be processed. Needless to say the funds have still not arrived in my bank account and my emails on the subject are now going unanswered. It has been over six months since I closed my account with Economy Energy. This surely cannot be lawful.

Do not touch this Energy Supplier

Do not touch this Energy Supplier, they are terrible !!! They owe we me money but still have taken more from my account months after switch. Customer service is none existent, tell you anything to get you off of the phone. Horrible company! My mission in life is to warn people off from using them.

Would give zero stars if possible

Would give zero stars if possible, am due refund of nearly Β£180 and they still won’t say when l can expect my money back. And the customer services department is a waste of time, they just hide behind company policy and spout nonsense, can’t even provide proper contact details for management

They just love to have your money !!!!

They just love to have your money and don’t want to refund you after you leave. After calls nothing happened and so I raised a complaint and got an apology and promised it was sorted and would have a refund within 10-13 working days but still nothing over 25 working days later. And was told as they have sorted it the complaint is closed. Crazy as refund was the complaint which I haven’t received. I left economy energy back in July. Kara only replies to reviews but never replies or looks into it if you use email that Kara posts after every poor review. Check out sky news economy Energy Looks like they are on the way out Not sure what happens now to our money

Nightmare

Nightmare! I completed a switch to this company, received a welcome email, set up a Direct Debit and waited for a request for meter readings in a month or so. My previous company Avro Energy had objected to the switch, but omitted to tell me (the switch request arrived to them just before a direct debit payment was due so my account was marginally in debit). This was easily put right. In the meantime they continued to consider me their customer and draw their direct debit payments. Economy Energy were also drawing DD payments (Β£414.75 in all) whilst not supplying me with energy. Despite repeated requests I have not yet received a refund. I do not recommend this company.

Useless customer service

As with many other complaints on here Economy energy are a nightmare. I left in April 2018 and here we are mid November and still not sorted final bills. I am in credit on my electricity account by Β£220.80 and in debit on the gas. I have asked them to transfer the credit to the debit and have paid the balance, yet get increasingly threatening emails for the full gas amount. I am sick of telephoning and someone promising to sort it out the next day! Ha ha ha, never happens. Wish I had never gone with them.

This is the worst energy company I know…

This is the worst energy company I know please avoid all the negitive reviews you read on here are accurate. I have had a nightmare with them from start to finish, I have submitted reading yet they don't take these into account and then still give me estimates. I had someone from the billing department call me and tell me I owe Β£180 which I disputed so ingot transferred to another department and was then told I owe Β£216 they seem to just be pulling numbers out of thin air. I then asked to peak to a manager and she refused to come to the phone and talk to me. It's honestly ridiculous save yourself the stress and time and go with a different company.
