A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????
Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

Was with boost but now payments go to economy energy app and ihd are miles apart using more electric then ever shocking service

Terrible service. Was offered a cheque for a missed appointment, however the cheque was backdated so the bank wouldn't accept it, and now they can't offer a new one. Boost who have taken over just say its not something they can do. What's the point, waste of time.

AVOID this company like the plague unless you like spending a couple of days on the phone to them getting knowhere or you want to get back to nature and live with no electricity.

A sales rep knocked on my door in September 2016, my tariff with my current provider was running out in October 2016, I listened to what he had to say and it did sound like a better deal so I was initially interested however after looking online I decided to go with eon energy. I emailed economy energy to advise that I would not be switching to them and I was to go with eon instead. In the months from October 2016 to January 2017 I was harassed with phone calls (3-4 per week) to get me to sign up and switch to economy energy. Then in Jan 2017 I had a letter from economy energy to advise they were closing my account. I called economy energy and spoke to an adviser who confirmed I had an account on their system even though I didn't authorize it. They claimed that I had not paid them anything (despite never receiving a bill) so they were closing my account. I advised I haven't paid anything because I do not owe anything as they are not my gas and electric provider. I emailed with proof to advise that I was never with them and they should cease contact with me immediately or I will take further action. I received a phone call from a manager who apologized and removed my name from the marketing system so I wouldnt be contacted again and I thought that was the last of it. Now... August 2020 I have had a letter from a debt collector to say I owe over £200 to economy energy. I have supplied a screenshot of my old eon energy account which shows the gas and electric supply including the dates; bearing in mind you can not be with two providers at once. I have all the email feeds to advise that I do not require economy energy's services as well as bank statements to prove who I was paying at the time and should I need to I'm sure I could obtain phone records to prove the harassment calls received from economy energy. Worst company ever!! completely incompetent!! I have emailed watchdog and will be contacting the ombudsman should I continue to be harassed and chased for debt that I do not acknowledge or owe.

Wish I could select zero stars. Absolute con artists. I switched providers back in May 2018. My account at the time of switching said I was £325 in credit only a couple of weeks before switching (our heating was off) but they’ve been trying to charge me a bogus bill of over £600. They were harassing me about about it for a few weeks in 2018 and then gave up and left me alone but have started harassing me again as of January this year and are now threatening to take me to court. Seems they’re doing this with a lot of people, I have proof of payments made and my account being in credit but wondered if anyone else who’s experienced this kind of harassment from them in the last year had any updates on your experience or advice?

Two or three years after leaving economy energy for being the worst provider I have ever known, they first contacted me to ask if I would reconsider and go back to them, I declined and I am now getting text messages and phone calls telling me that I owe them money, which I do not, I have told them repeatedly to take me to court but instead I get voicemail messages. Whilst with them I would top up with my key, go home to find my money had gone to the company but no electricity was forthcoming. When eventually it did, it disappeared at a rate of knots as if I was paying for the whole street let alone a single man in a one bed flat. I suffer with mental health issues and EE made things a whole lot worse. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

I read some view some people they have contract with economic energy I don't have they coming my house my friends she open the door that day am at work afternoon shift sow she is not understand she think they are sse sow she let them in the house he didn't saying nothing he chang my gas with out my permission I use top up when I top up 50 after 2 days no money I been with sse 5 years I don't have any problems am happy with economic omg full one year I top up my on money no contract only Pay as you go.now I back with sse after 2 yers they send me economic o have to pay pack to them 255 can u imagine I said I don't pay any 1p now they send me collect team I don't care

PLEASE AVOID THIS GAS COMPANY THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF they charged me 20 pounds for 3 days worth of gas and it was not even on all day i switched else where and was only charged 5 pounds for 3 days i phoned up economy energy and told them i been over charged i want a refund they accused my home of being in debt with some one else that is maybe why i was over charged but i said that is not true because only i have lived here and just switched to you guys, they told me they can not do anything and if im not happy then go to another provider
