Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

James @ Rayleigh weir Halfords - 10/10 service, I came in due to the light bulb icon on my dashboard, he helped me to find which light was the problem & changed my KA side light. He had a lot of perseverance and determination to get the stubborn light out (through the poor manufacturing design flaw) and it wasn't easy, but he did it all in the British heatwave nonetheless. Thank you James!

What on earth is happening at Halfords

What on earth is happening at Halfords? I telephoned to arrange for a service on my bicycle. They gave me a date to take it to the Epsom store, and they called me the following day to give a quote for the work. I accepted the quote. Ten minutes later, they called today that they had no one to do the work, so please remove the cycle. I called central number and they promised to call back to make an appointment at New Malden. They have not called back. This old a trusted retailer is loosing its grip.

Turned away after appointment confirmed

Booked a diagnostic check for a coolant leak at Plymouth store. Turned my son away stating that they do not do such repairs because they cant get a Ford Fiesta Mk7 coolant expansion plastic reservoir (even though they are available from Amazon!) Not a difficult repair, however with the pathetic excuse given got the impression they cannot be bothered.

I ordered two new tyres for my caravan

I ordered two new tyres for my caravan, the caravan has Tyron bands fitted and this was clearly stated on the Halfords order. The first guy turned up and after about 40 minutes said the equipment on his van was faulty and so couldn't change remove the Tyron bands, so therefore can't change the tyres. he advised his boss would contact me to arrange a new appointment. The boss man never called so I called Halfords to arrange another appointment. A time slot of between 10 and 12 was arranged. 12:00 arrived and no call (as they do before arrival) had come so I called Halfords (again). I was told the fitter would be with me at 12:25, so only 25 minutes late. He told me it would be about 30 minutes to do the job. After about 30 minutes he also informed me that he had not brought a tool for the Tyron band removal and also the equipment needed to remove the Tyron bands was faulty. He did though manage to remove them but was unable to refit them, which allowed the new tyres to be fitted without the Tyron bands obviously. He advised a third team would need to come out to fit the Tyron bands, hopefully with working equipment. I called Halfords (again) and was advised that to have the Tyrons bands fitted I would need to visit a garage, they didn't say Halfords. To say my experience was one I do not wish to repeat, I have vowed not to use Halfords again, for anything!!

Absolutely shocking service

Absolutely shocking service. This company I would not touch with a barge pole, they need to get closed down. Worcester store and customer services absolutely shocking. No ownership of an issue at all, you ask to speak to a manager and they are non existent. You purchase a brand new e bike from the internet only to receive not just 1 but 3 refurbished and all non working. This issue has been going on since end of April and is continuing. Let’s hope someone in a senior position at Halfords eventually has the common courtesy to call me.

Walked in to store,NORTH NORFOLK .CROMER.

Walked in to store,NORTH NORFOLK . Walked to an assistant all I wanted was two tyres fitted to my bicycle and one new spoke. Had bike with me so was told to bring in and it was booked in obviously it was a Sunday so it wouldn’t be done that day. Understand that I might have to order parts and understand that.. So this is where it all fell apart. Looking at the new tyres on the shelves wanting to pick the tyres I wanted to put on the bike fitted. Then for some reason their assistance started telling me I can’t do that. I have to have a phone call from the repairer to tell me all about my bike. I know what colour the bike is and the wheels are round so I don’t need that assistance. All I wanted is two new tyres and one spoke. Still told I can’t pick my tyres while I’m in the shop so I told the assistant to grab my bike and I wheeled it out your LOSS. Really need to listen to the customer first before jumping in . Did I ask for health check on the bike .NO. Did I ask for a service .NO. So the email you sent me to say thank you for booking your bike in. NOT NEEDED IS IT. Have a look at your CCTV see it all unfold.SUNDAY MORNING. Have ordered two new tyres with tubes eBay £33. Ordered spokes 10 in pack £5.69 both free delivery. Do it myself I’m at that age my first bike had metal brakes.

Halford's Lymington

Halford's Lymington - MOT, we all dread MOT day but Rich and the team at Lymington were so helpful, yes it failed but they were on hand to quote and although i thought i might do better elsewhere i returned to them the following morning and they sorted out the issue and the retest quickly, Rich and his customer service were outstanding. i woudl recommend Halfords to anyone. Keep it local. Thanks to all at the Lymington depot.

Training needed for booking team

Customer service guy v helpful However told me I was booked in for same day break repairs and on taking bike to halfords as booked in by him it was not same day service it was just an assessment. The staff on booking libecwas most v certain it was same day repairs! Obvious there's a lack of training as they don't do this on a sunday . Fortunately as i was happy about this the halfords did do same day repairs
