Review summary

Hazelton's Canada receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 97% of reviewers expressing dissatisfaction. While some customers appreciate the concept of gift baskets and the selection available, the majority report significant issues with service and product quality. Many people experience late deliveries, with orders arriving well past the promised dates, leading to frustration and disappointment. Reviewers frequently mention receiving incorrect or substituted items that do not match their original orders, often of lower quality. Complaints about poor customer service and a lack of accountability for mistakes are common, with several consumers feeling misled by the company's claims. Avoid. Poor quality. Poor service.

I am not surprised to find that others have had a bad experience as I really got the impression that they do NOT care about after care service. People are sending gifts, so who wants to tell their friends and family that the gift they so kindly sent was bad? So, no need for aftercare service, I guess they get by on recipients staying quiet. Chocolates in our gift basket were moldy. The customer "service" person sent me a series of 'copy and paste' messages that felt robotic. For me that says it all. No apology was given, let alone any gesture or offer to replace. Avoid this company when gifting. Your friends will not tell you that the quality was poor.

RIP OFF

RIP off. Ordered beer bucket with craft beers and got a 6 pack of Guinness stout. Let customer service know and they said basically too bad then processed to change the description of the item on the website to counter my complaint. Avoid!

AVOID- Terrible Customer Service, Destroyed Products

I really wish I had checked the trust pilot reviews before ordering from this place. I placed an order on Dec 16, and they estimated 2 day delivery. Instead, it arrived 3 weeks later and in horrendous condition. The glass bottle was shattered, and glass was everywhere in the package. I sent photo proofs, and they refused to give a refund other than for the bottle. Everything inside was soaked and damaged, and they considered this acceptable for a gift basket that cost $140. The customer service rep insisted that he thinks that the destroyed state is acceptable. Don't order from this company. The gift baskets arrive in terrible condition as others have reported, and they do not care. They do not make it right. It's just embarrassing.

I wish there was a zero star

I wish there was a zero star! This company is absolutely disgusting! We orders a basket with food and wine on December 20th and it's still not delivered! When you try to call customer service they tell you to track your order and there is nothing they can do about it. The food is definitely not edible by now most likely not fresh and it was not cheap to order. I hope this useless company goes out of business. Their staff is useless as well when it comes to customer service! Sham on you!

I ordered a Santa's Christmas stocking…

I ordered a Santa's Christmas stocking for my sister, to cheer her up. She is on her own in Canada with her family in Scotland and feeling lonely. I selected one of the delivery date options Hazelton offered on their website so she would get it a few days before Christmas. I then let her know to expect something fun! Of course it didn't turn up and the tracking app was not getting updated. After Christmas I got in touch with Hazelton and they offered to resend the stocking or a refund. A bit late for a Christmas stocking, so a refund sounded appropriate and I thought good for them, good customer service! I went ahead and ordered a ' sorry you didn't get anything at Christmas but here's a January present to make up' replacement gift and got back in touch with Hazelton for a refund, as they had promised. The Christmas stocking then appeared at my sisters ( delivered about 2 weeks late ) and Hazelton said sorry changed our minds - no refund - apparently as long as my Christmas Santa Stocking arrived at some point in 2025 they felt no obligation to me, their customer, despite having offered a refund. That is bad customer service Hazelton:(

Stay away!

We order a gift basket and selected 2 business day shipping. The Item arrived late (after 10 days) when we didn't need it anymore. They didn't take accountability and won't give us a refund when we didn't need it anymore because we had to buy a new gift that will arrive on time.

A rating of 1 is probably too high!

Their delivery and refund policies are outrageous! A relative tried to send a very expensive gift basket to us for Christmas. They supposedly called us on Christmas Eve around 3PM, and we were aleady on our way out of town. Although we have an answering machine, they didn't even leave a message, the gift could have been left with any number of neighbours who were home, but ehy didn't try tht either. They just sent the gif back to their "warehouse" (no idea where that was), and we only found out about the gift after apeaking to the purchaser. I left several phone message once I found out, and no one even had the courtesy to call back. I finally reached a live person using a different phone number today, but even speaking to a supervisor was a waste of time. Either they will give the purchaser a refund less a shipping fee, or if we want to get the gift, they will charge the purchaser what amounts to a "re-stocking fee" of $35CAD. In the end, it would cost even more than was already paid. My logic is that my relative is being punished because we weren't home, or we're being punished because we weren't home, and b ased on all the comments I'm seeing here, they should be put out of business.

No delivery, no refund, no service

I ordered a gift basket for delivery to Calgary on Dec.20. Today is January 6 and it has not arrived. There are perishable items in the order which obviously will have gone bad by now. Terrible customer service. I asked for a refund and they refused, telling me to contact the delivery service CANPAR which does not take calls (I tried). The customer should not have to contact delivery themselves, I did not choose this courier, it’s Hazelton’s business to see this through. That’s a write-off for $100 + order. Never again.

I ordered a plant and cake from this…

I ordered a plant and cake from this company on Dec 17th, for it to be delivered on Dec. 19th. I selected 2 day delivery. The cake arrived in a messy puddle in the box and the plant was completely dead on January 6th!! I do not understand how this is acceptable. I was completely mortified by the state the gifts arrived in and was told that it was my fault by customer service for not choosing one day delivery. The company should review their shipping options and if this is how two day shipping works then it should not be an option for perishable items. I was not offered any compensation. I will not use this company again or recommend it to anyone. If I could post photos on here, you would see a cake smashed in a box and a completely dead plant. How embarrassing.

Do Not order from here!!

Do Not order from here!!! Total scam. I ordered a 250 basket on Dec 21st to be delivered by the 23rd with food in it. It's Dec 29th and still no delivery nor will they tell me why my clients haven't received the order nor will they refund or send a new box. This place needs to be shut down. Customer service is horrendous and they just don't care. I plan on reporting to the Better Business Bureau. Something needs to be done! Look at all of these terrible reviews. How are they even still in business?

Recently received a lovely gift basket…

Recently received a lovely gift basket from (Toronto) this company, problem was it was ordered during a recent cold snap and they took their sweet time to deliver it and consequently it was nearly froze solid. The wine, vinegar, olive oil, jams, cheeses and salarmi were nearly solid, not enough to break anything but way too cold.

The worst experience of my life

The worst experience of my life when I placed over 200$ order with them. Totally unprofessional behaviour dealing with their customers and insisting shipment is picked up by CanPar and now I must deal with them. Never again and I hope police take notice as it appears to be a scam.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I ordered baskets for delivery on December 19th and it's now December 27 and my baskets STILL haven't been delivered. Mack(Mak) the "manager" is the rudest person I've ever dealt with. He told me to call the courier and get the details and it wasn't his job to confirm when items were being delivered. This is after the call was "accidentally" disconnected when I started pushing him for WHY my packages are being delivered AFTER Christmas. I asked why the packages weren’t delivered the next business day, he had no answer. He was combative, argumentative, beyond rude, just an all-around horrible human being. He kept telling me to call the courier company myself to get all my answers. That is his job as a manager in customer service, not the customers job. I’m paying Hazelton‘s, not the courier company. I was left shocked, disgusted, and in disbelief by how atrocious his behaviour was. I wish I had read the reviews before wasting over $1000 with this company.

Horrible experience. 0/5. Will never try Hazelton's again.

Horrible experience, makes me think this entire company is a scam. Delivery was apparently refused at my grandmother's retirement home, but I know very well that she accepts deliveries of this kind all the time. BTW no one called me or tried to contact me in any way that there was something wrong with the delivery. For a delivery over $100 the least you could do is call the number on the delivery notes... Now to resend her a new order it will take 1-2 weeks and $57 EXTRA for the shipping as the items were perishable (like no duh that's why you should have contacted me the day you attempted delivery to ensure the FLOWERS were delivered and not rotting in the back of a warehouse somewhere). Best of all, they can only offer a partial refund, even though none of these issues I could have avoided as I live an entire province away and provided the correct delivery address. Very, very displeased and wish I read more reviews before purchasing with them. Horrible delivery experience, and ended up with no real solution, now just out $60 for nothing and nothing is getting delivered to my Grandma for Christmas. Unbelievable.
