Beware of Routes Car Rental of Calgary…

Beware of Routes Car Rental of Calgary CA, airport. Routes required me to purchase their LDW after claiming AMEX was invalid in Canada. I had a minor accident (broken taillight) and small dent. They charged my AMEX approximately $3700 CD after claiming that the LDW had a $3500 deductible. (There was no mention of a deductible which also is contrary to what a LDW is meant for) I had a national body shop estimate the damage using the VIN number, their estimate was approximately $1200.00 and told me the parts being quoted by Route’s was improper based on the VIN number. I turned the case over to AMEX and they found that there was no deductible and credited my card for the unauthorized charge.

Horrific!!!

Horrific!!!! They don’t deserve details as I have better things to do. Must be bots or paid for positive reviews. Read the other negative reviews and exactly what happened to us. Not to mention everyone else who was there was absolutely livid when we returned the vehicle.

Great company to rent from!

The rental process was seamless. I booked my reservations online and it was a smooth and easy process. Have rented before and it was the same. Will definitely continue to rent as long as service stay at this level.

I had booked this same reservation from…

I had booked this same reservation from 11-30 too 12-14. I do hope that Routes will pay back my earlier reservation. That I could not make. I had a family emergency to tend too. My son surprised me and flew in from Colorado. I took him back to the airport today. 12-2. My next possible flight to Orlando is 12-5. My old reservation number is. RWPD662569 11-30 too 12-14. Thank you In advance for this consideration.

Unfair/deceptive practices over charging

1. Shuttle never came to airport for pick up. . Had to pay another shuttle driver who kindly took us. Another group was waiting for an hour and a half. 2. The insistence to provide documentation of insurance is an issue many have. I had read about it and came prepared, but most people in the long line were agitated over this unfair business practice, and substantially increased chargers. It’s a bait and switch situation. 3. Denver toll road issues. They charged me for a toll of $6, and a $50 fee on top of it after the fact. Another unfair business practice and egregious fee. 4. Vehicle had some damage and was dirty. 5. There is a lack of customer service, both on site and corporate, that makes it impossible to communicate with their finance and payments department, and very difficult to reach anyone. They don’t answer their phones onsite, lines are long and everyone I noticed was agitated by their deliberately confusing and obfuscated policies. Customer service is an off shore contracted service which is incredibly unhelpful, by design. 6. Their policies are unfair to the consumer. I doubt they will be in business much longer. Don’t fall for the cheap pricing up front. It’s kind of a scam company, it seems.

Toll road trap

The people at the Orlando branch were great. Very helpful. The only problem is an expensive one. I visit Orlando often and I have my own SunPass for the road tolls. I was forced to pay an additional $12 a day for their SunPass that I was not expecting. Or I would be forced to pay the toll plus an additional 40 dollars if I drove on the toll road. Bummer

Please DO NOT use this car rental company

Please, DO NOT use this car rental company. We had a car reservation, it was paid in full and reserved 4 months in advance. We get to the airport to pick it up and they tell us that they didn’t have no more vehicles available. Now waiting for them to “investigate” so we can get a full refund. Had to go to another car rental and spend hundreds of dollars more to get a car.

Maliciously Misleading "Local Renters" Policy

We had a booking through Economy Bookings that was prepaid. When we got to the counter to pick up our rental they told us they don't rent to "locals" which apparently includes everyone who lives in the state of Florida. This was never clearly stated. They turned us away at 1:45am in the cold with one year old twins and all our luggage after almost 15 hours of travel. They told us the best they could do is send us back to the airport where the next closest available booking was over twice the cost of the original. Just to be clear, the policies on the website only state that they do not rent to "local" renters. I don't know what world they live in but nobody in their right mind thinks that a "local" renter includes someone who lives over 200 miles away. The policies need to be made crystal clear so people don't waste their money. The clerk confirmed that this was a common issue. In addition, after reaching out to customer service, the representatives refused to transfer the call to the office manager, even after clearly stating that we were no longer interested in receiving a rental, we only wished to express our feedback.

Once I went to Calgary

Как-то поехал я в Калгари это славный… Как-то поехал я в Калгари это славный город в Канаде!! И решил заказать себе машинку для того чтобы было удобно передвигаться в городе Калгари! Начал я искать эту машинку на разных сайтах и вспомнил что когда-то я заказывал машины на интересном сайте под названием EconomyBookings.com После недолгих поисков выбор пал на компанию под названием Routes Car Rentals . Так как мы хотели ехать в горы мы решили заказать машину уровня кроссовер! Заказал я на сайте машину с полной страховкой цена меня в принципе устраивала всё было замечательно также было написано что у меня будет трансфер из аэропорта до офиса самой компании и на сайте я указал номер рейса на котором прилетаю в Калгари. Но я был очень удивлён когда меня никто не встретил и мне пришлось звонить на телефон компании чтобы они объяснили где меня могут подобрать и куда мне идти чтобы меня доставили к офису компании. Когда мы приехали в офис компании меня ждал ещё очень большой сюрприз. Выяснилось что помимо денег которые я заплатил за аренду машины мы ещё должны заплатить какую-то страховку хотя когда заказывали на сайте там уже была полная страховка. Когда мы пытались объяснить сотруднице компании что у нас всё оплачено она нам сказала что если мы не оплатим то мы не получим машину. И дальнейшие наше объяснение были бессмысленны сотрудница просто не реагировала на нас и занималась своими делами. В итоге нам пришлось заплатить такую же сумму за страховку какую мы заплатили за саму аренду машины в итоге цена вышла в два раза дороже. Так что даже не ведитесь на низкие цены на сайте economybooking.com Ну это ещё не конец всей истории. Когда мы возвращали машину нас заставили ждать больше часа пока они всё проверят и только после этого нас посадили в автобус до аэропорта в котором нам пришлось просидеть ещё 40 минут. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once I went to Calgary, a wonderful city in Canada!! And I decided to order a car for myself in order to move around the city of Calgary conveniently! I started looking for this car on different websites and remembered that I once ordered cars on an interesting website called economybooking.com After a short search, the choice fell on a company called Routes Car Rentals. Since we wanted to go to the mountains, we decided to order a crossover car! I ordered a car with full insurance on the website, the price basically suited me, everything was great, it also said that I would have a transfer from the airport to the company's office and on the website I indicated the flight number on which I would arrive in Calgary. But I was very surprised when no one met me and I had to call the company's phone so that they could explain where they could pick me up and where I should go so that I could be taken to the company's office. When we arrived at the company's office, another big surprise awaited me. It turned out that in addition to the money I paid for renting a car, we also had to pay some insurance, although when we ordered on the website there was already full insurance. When we tried to explain to the company employee that we had paid for everything, she told us that if we did not pay, we would not receive the car. And our further explanations were pointless, the employee simply did not respond to us and went about her business. As a result, we had to pay the same amount for insurance as we paid for the car rental itself, in the end the price was twice as expensive. So do not even fall for the low prices on the website EconomyBookings.com Well, this is not the end of the story. When we returned the car, we were forced to wait more than an hour while they checked everything and only after that they put us on a bus to the airport, in which we had to sit for another 40 minutes.

They didn’t honor my pre-paid booking

I booked a car through a booking agency but upon arrival I was told that they had no vehicle for us. I had even paid for the rental ahead of time. As a result, there was added stress and it ended up costing me more than twice as much when I had to rent through another company. I followed up with their customer service center as advised in the response to this rating and was able to get a refund, so they get one more star for that.

Do not rent from Routes!

This company has it in the policy that they do not rent to locals. This is an unusual policy which should be evident in the rental process. I rented a car and fully paid them. When I arrived, I was denied to rent the car and they did not want to give me a refund. I rented using Priceline and Routes said that they do not have my money and that I should figure it out with Priceline. Well, my credit card payment clearly shows that the money was paid to them. How many people have been scammed by this company with their shady policies? If I cannot rent from them, why do they take a non refundable payment? This seems to me to be a SCAM that makes them good money. Do not rent from this company if you are local to them. And if you are not, read the other complaints also showing scamming them in other ways.
