Very rude operator who asked me to repeat what I was saying 5 times then she hung up on me

A very strange case

A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????

Closed down by Ofgem.

Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

Economy Energy..What A Joke!!

Think i now hold the world record for being on hold with this company.. over an hour and atill not spoke to anyone in relation to my complaint and my alleged Β£8337.00 yearly usage of electricity from my 2 bedroomed house with only 1 adult and 1 child occupancy.. This company need to be held accountable via criminal prosecution for their actions and misery they have caused its customers!!

Unable to top up for 1month. Multiple Cuts to Electric Service as Meter Key card Supplied for the wrong type of meter, changeover from previous supplier, failed to update meter and p failed to send smart meter, smart pre pay non functional unless dual tariff, although offered smart pre pay, unable to top up meter for approx 1month, Frozen Food and in and appliances switched off so unable to charge mobile or chat with service provider. Unable to provide urgent timescale and unable to confirm warm home discount transfer of credit from previous supplier. Failure to support Disabled People, Freezing and Unable to Warm Home. Failure to provide timescales for solution. Failure to implement gas pre pay install. Horrific experience. Had to charge my phone in the car to request emergency credit x 2 as refusal to by supplier to credit meter with sufficient funds requests of 50GBP and refused to apologise, refused goodwill funds. Refused to provide sufficient information to client about how to top up meter. Failed to offer app or online single fuel top up as advertised, impairing the disabled person, requiring them to go to the shop to top up.

They dont even deserve 1 star

Please put in exclamation marks where you think appropriate because there are lots in the original message. They dont even deserve 1star. This is a despicable company who should stop trading. They have owed me Β£73 for over 6 months. The government should take a personal bond from all these cheapshite companies CEOs that take our money then go bust, because this company is going bust. Extract from my final invoice from them and nothing but delaying tactics to pay me what they owe. How dare you take until now to reply to my email of 20 December having held onto my money for 6 months. Anyone would think it is 000's of Β£'s not Β£74. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and your apology is not accepted. I am registering a small claims with additional costs to be recovered. I strongly suggest you inform your CEO immediately as I am also taking this to the ombudsman and have tried to copy him but email looks highly suspect. Toxic company enter at your own risk!

My experience of this company after all it declared it was able to offer, is nothing but criminal. It does not answer its own telephones, its own chat lines unable to give reliable information. Economy Energy customer services unable to give answers to why my account shows failed payments, and actually blames my bank, when I am able to prove my direct debits have left my bank on time month after month. Particularly after I advised Economy Energy Customer Services my bank is unable to find any issues on payments. They were unable to give any reason why they estimate my accounts when I have submitted meter readings at the beginning of each month. It has not responded to my continued request to email response to my numerous written complaints, even though its own complaint process states it will respond with 10 days? Its a joke. It appears its own online account is down again, so my request for final bill will probably not be happening. Lastly where is my money that it owes me. Dont touch this company its toxic!

Avoid!

Reading the reviews here, and it seems there are a lot of people in the same situation as me. I switched provider from them in august last year and received a letter saying i was Β£193 in credit (not surprising as they put my monthly diect debit up by a ridiculous amount). Five months later and I still have not recieved this Β£193 despite numerous phone calls and e mails to them, just seem to be fobbing me off every time. Seem like a bunch of con artists, would not recommend!

I honestly can't believe how many…

I honestly can't believe how many people are in the same situation as me! Having switched provider in August EE told me I couldn't be issued a refund on my account until my final gas bill had been issued. This finally happened in October and I was told I was over Β£1800 in credit! After several phone calls, emails and opened complaints (my first complaint was closed because they had replied saying it could take anywhere from 6-8 weeks for my money to be returned - as if they think this is a suitable response!) I am no further forward and have a complaint in with the ombudsman. Not only is it not good enough that I am still waiting months later to have my money refunded but I was clearly over paying on my direct debit in the first place so why wasn't it reduced???? The company are ran by a bunch of crooks and the way they treat their customers is absolutely disgusting. I'm glad OFQUAL have eventually stepped in but I doubt this is going to get my money back and quicker :-(

Completely fabricated estimate, to try to bill me Β£1446.52 for 2 months electricity!

My Dec-2018 electricity bill states my actual usage for last 11 months is 3573 units (the actual is in fact 3563 for 12 months), yet the same bill also estimates my usage during the last 2 months of the billing period (i.e. the last 2 months of the 11) will be 11806 units! Somehow they suggest I will use 11806 units if looking back over 2 months, but only 3573 if looking back over 11 months! Based on usage since living here, their estimates suggest I've used same in 2 months as in approx more than 3.5 years of usage! Wonder if they suddenly think I'm powering the floodlights of a sports stadium! More likely they're just hoping to fund their apparently failing company. Based on these fabricated estimates, the bill is trying to charge me Β£1446.52 for 2 months electricity, when based on 'actual current readings', they actually owe me around Β£350 of credit! Looks like whoever fudged the latest 2 month estimates to try to over-inflate my latest bill to create a huge amount apparently owing, forgot to fudge the actual to make them tie in! Didn't have much faith in them from start of my contract, when they tried to increase my monthly DD only 13 days after switching to them!
