Avoid!!

Enquired about prices for door and window over a year ago and still awaiting a response. Then I asked for prices for 2 internal doors the same as the ones I had bought from them a couple of years ago. This company told me that they were awaiting on their suppliers to respond and that was the delay. Unbeknownst to them, I contacted these suppliers and found out that they had not been contacted by Huws Gray and didn't know anything about it. Meanwhile, I've been waiting over a year now to get a job done and told continuous lies about materials. Not a trustworthy company and no customer care - they don't want your business. If you can get materials elsewhere, do so. This company are not reputable

I get all my materials from Huws Gray Doncaster branch , service is great most of my orders are handled by Pam her help and understanding when ordering is the best, and is why i keep going back for my materials , well done she’s a credit to her company

Renting

I recently rented an industrial hoover, needing reliable equipment for a job. When I got it home, though, it didn’t work at all. I returned it the next day, explaining that the hoover was faulty from the start and that I expected a refund since it hadn’t been usable. Instead of understanding, the staff seemed to imply that I was just trying to avoid paying after using it, which couldn’t have been further from the truth. They ultimately refused to refund me, leaving me frustrated and out of pocket for equipment that didn’t work. Disappointing experience all around.

I recently visited my local Huws Gray…

I recently visited my local Huws Gray for some wood for my bathroom . The assistant on the till told me I needed to go to the shed across the carpark. I told him I had walking difficulties to which his reply was "you can drive over if you want" . I was shocked at his lack of customer service skills regarding disabilities . A few days later I had to go again , same assistant on the till . This time I drive to the shed first and got what I needed and drove back over to pay for it. We had a dispute regarding the website advertising what I had bought at a reduced price. The assistant told me there was nothing he could do and that it was probably old stock. The website did not stipulate that it was only available at certain branches which was my argument. I paid full price and complained to head office more about his attitude than anything else. He had no customer service skills whatsoever and yes he probably deals with tradesmen most of the time. However he really needs to brush up on his customer service skills and maybe refresh his disability awareness training ! Needless to say I won't be going again ( I doubt I would be welcome ) My complaint was passed on to the manager and area manager yet I have had no apology for the way he dealt with things. I put it down to a generation thing

Fast, friendly and helpful service.

Needed one pallet of block paving. Telford branch really helpful. Got what I needed transferred from a branch in Yorkshire and got me the pallet within 3 days. And it's the right one which is much better than Jewsons did!! Really friendly and helpful guy (didn't get his name).

Our experience dealing with Cory at the Radstock Branch of Huws Gray.

Our experience dealing with Cory at the Radstock branch was brilliant! He was very helpful and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. He kept us informed of when our wood flooring had arrived and it was delivered swiftly. We would definitely contact Cory for advice in the future. Thank you.

Ok, but problems with delivery

Just started using Huws Gray. I've visited their Fleetwood depot a number of times. They have a great stock in their yard and shop and the staff are helpful. But there are a lot of them hanging about. The problem is with deliveries. They are supposed to contact you to tell you the date & time. They don't. The last order I put in via their website took three days and only after I called in to see what the problem was. The driver only let me know after he'd been & was driving away, too late to discuss where I wanted the stuff. Other merchants have been much better at customer communication.

My experience at Huws Gray today…

My experience at Huws Gray today started when after waiting at the trade counter to be served, I asked the guy at the counter, next to the computer if I could place an order for delivery. He handed me a piece of paper to fill in as a "chitty" to hand to someone in the warehouse" LOL If you want to waste your time and money try buying something from Huws Grey and watch them p*ss you around with their bureaucratic nonesense. I must have spent about Β£100k with them over the past couple of years and wondered why it took our workmen so long to return with materials. Now I've experienced the shambles for myself It's plain to see how much time and money I've wasted by paying hourly rates to workmen who have to stand around and get moved from department to department at Huws Grey just to get what they need for the day. I came away empty handed, walking out the door with someone following behind trying to explain I needed to go back into the building and speak to someone on the trade counter. Buy on line from somewhere else if you can and plan ahead.

Cowley Branch - Matt Claridge was excellent

We had previously bought a large amount of bathroom fittings for our house refurbishment from the Cowley branch, Oxfordshire. At the time the customer service / equipment bought were really good and competitively priced (bath, several showers, several toilets/basins and fittings). A couple of the items subsequently developed some minor issues which some people may have ignored, however we referred it to the branch. The Manager Matt Claridge was absolutely brilliant and kept us informed throughout the process and very effectively dealt with the issues in a very professional and with a high level of customer service. We cannot thank him enough and highly recommend both him and the store.

Huws + Gray Milton Keyens.

Needed 6 bricks to fill a vent hole in a wall. Went to our local H+G in Towcester, showed them the pattern of brick required, not in stock, they checked their system, said H+G in Milton Kyenes had stock. So , off I went to MK, into H+G. What an enjoyable experience, first contact was with Charlotte and Kev, explained and showed what I required, told to see Brian in the yard , some yard, thought I should have brought my bike, its not small. Saw Brian in the far corner of the yard where the bricks are. Showed Brian a brick with the pattern that I needed, off he went , I followed , to a stack of bricks, with the pattern and colour which just about matched mine, Brian then went off to check another stack , me following , just to make sure we had got the closest match. He ( Brian ) , then spent some tine, sorting through the brciks , to find 12 off , with the same shade. Bottom line, came away with 12 bricks, feeling good,having experienced some good old fashioned customer service ,( Brian knows his bricks ). So thank you to Charlotte , Brian and Kev. Jim.Fischer.

Dynamic pricing

Ordered pea gravel at Β£40 tonne, 48 hours later the price increases. I get prices increase but not in 24 hours. Manager hung up phone on me. Cleveleys
