Poor Quality & Substitutions

Since their customer service has stopped responding to our email chain I figure I might as well take the time to write a review to hopefully warn others about the quality of service and products from Hazelton. I ordered the "Pretzels & Popcorn Snack Crate" and added 4 beers for an extra charge. I was given the option to choose beer and I selected the option from Mill St. (100th meridian, MS Organic or another) and specified in the notes that I would like the 100th Meridian or a similar Amber beer as thats my dad's preference. My father finally received his basket today (3 days after his birthday, their shipping schedule isn) and it included Mill St Organic, despite me specifying to please include the 100th Meridian beer or another craft amber beer. He doesn’t drink lagers and it’s disappointing that my request wasn’t taken into consideration. I wouldn't have minded the substitution, HOWEVER the cans were the small size (355ml). The 100th Meridian beer only comes in 473ml size cans, so not only did they send the wrong beer, but substituted it for smaller size. The basket contents itself had issues as well. There were no pistachios included, and instead my dad got another thing of almonds. Ok fine. Well there were no “Bacon and Cheddar Chip nuts”, instead my dad got some cheap salted peanuts. So 2 things of salted almonds and some cheap peanuts. Considering I paid over a hundred bucks for some snacks and 4 beers I’m pretty upset with Hazeltons and their customer service. Substitutions are one thing and totally understandable in this type of industry. With that in mind, its unacceptable to send a lower quality product/a much cheaper product instead of what you advertise. In their reply to me they mentioned their substitution policy, and that I accepted it when placing the order. By their logic had I ordered a filet mignon at a steakhouse, I should be alright with a salisbury steak instead (and at the same price as the filet!). I hope Hazelton's sees this review and remedies this situation. If not I will take my business elsewhere (and encourage others to do so as well).

DONT TRUST HAZELTONS

Paid for a delivery of two plants and a happy birthday balloon for my daughter who lives alone in Waterloo. Never arrived. They refuse to cancel and credit my card. They should not be in business. There was an article on CTV about them.

If I could have left a zero star score…

If I could have left a zero star score I would. My best friend made the order for my 40th birthday. What arrived was nothing like what she ordered nor was it anywhere near the value of what she had paid. I live in the Middle East and Hazelton has passed on the order to a local distributer. Hazelton asked the local distributor to put together a hamper nothing like what had been ordered but then also fobbed off my best friend by constantly telling her that they had sent what she ordered. This has caused her a lot of stress having to chase up numerous times. If you work for Hazelton I dont know How you sleep at night knowlingly ripping people off and I’m surprised the company is still in business as they are totally fraudulent.

DONT USE THIS COMPANY

I have given a one star review and below is why: Deceptive advertising of free delivery and same day delivery to SAN Diego Order delivered 12 days after placing order Goods missing from order that were paid for was The chocolate coated strawberries and vase, singing balloon Fruit, flowers and cheeses ordered were perished and wilted and The food not edible Ordered a teddy bear and received a black dog Just totally disgusted that I paid $400AU for a packet of crackers, a bottle of Moët, almonds and an ugly black dog. Oh and a cane basket.

They are CROOKS and FRAUD

They are CROOKS and FRAUD. Please if you are the victim, I suggest you file a complaint on Internet Crime Complaint Centre and ask your credit card company to chargeback. They are not an honest company. They take your money and change your order without notifying you. This is FRAUD. No company has the right to do that. Their response to that is check FAQs. which is not right. They are liable to contact the customer and send detailed delivery items that have been substituted if they can't deliver what you order. They are Fraud and anyone that has experienced Fraud and never received their money, I suggest you contact your local law enforcement agency after filing your complaint on iC3 website. Do not buy from them.

Be wary of using Hazeltons!!

Be wary of using this company (& it’s many aliases)! I ordered a large 90th Birthday cake and bottle of Moet champagne 2 weeks ago - still waiting for delivery despite paying for a 2 day courier service. Customer service is totally ineffective. Extremely disappointed.

Gift not delivered and no refund

I ordered a gift package for a friends 30th Birthday. It was never delivered. The communication from this company is awful. They would not give a refund or resend the gift, and have been rude in all email communications. A complete waste of money.

Don’t waste your money

Don’t waste your money! I usually always check reviews before I purchase anything! This time I didnt! After I placed my order, something told me to check out this company on Trustpilot. Unfortunately they don’t allow cancellations...even if production of your order hasn’t started yet!! I could tell you how I paid over $100 for something I could’ve thrown together for $20 but there’s already enough reviews saying that.

Terrible service

Terrible service. Shipped package and then it was returned to them because recipient was not home even though I had left instructions to leave at door. Charged me for a second package and they never shipped that, then refused to give me any refund, only store credit. Stay away!

Sent wrong item, unwilling to make change or compensate. Unreasonable and uninterested in client happiness.

I ordered a celebratory champagne and chocolate covered strawberries gift basket for a coworker hundreds of miles away. I never received any email confirmation it was delivered and finally asked her if she'd ever gotten anything, which also worried me about ruining the surprise, but she said she had gotten it a few days earlier and just hadn't had a chance to say so. She thanked me for the "caramels." I said I had ordered chocolate covered strawberries, much fancier than a box of chocolates, and she said nope, it was definitely a box of chocolates, toffee or caramel or something like that. I wrote Hazelton's to ask for some kind of clarification and compensation for what was obviously a downgrade to the actual order, especially considering they didn't disclose, notify or confirm anything about it with me, including the delivery. They demanded I send photos of the item, which makes no sense since I'm the one who sent the item, not who received it, and why would I ask someone who I was sending a surprise to to please be sure and photograph it when the hundred-dollar gift I sent arrived to be sure the company hadn't deceived anyone? Not only did I get zero resolution or even acknowledgement, it took three weeks from the time I initiated the complaint, including a literal copy-and-paste of their initial unreasonable requirement that I, the sender, hundreds of miles away, provide photos of a long-gone item that they hadn't even confirmed delivery for so I couldn't even have reached out to my friend on the date of delivery to ask her to take photos, but when I finally followed to say "hello, any progress on this?" They simply refused to proceed or provide any kind of acknowledgement. I DO NOT recommend doing business with this company, whose only high-end quality seems to be the price.

I ordered $517.00 gift baskets to be delivered on a specific date. Not only did they not arrive on time...what was ordered was nothing like delivered. Items delivered cost less than $20.00. These guys are extreme crooks and will rip you off!! Do not buy here.....unless you wanna throw away money for junk!!

Big disappointment

Big disappointment! The worse site to order anything. Do not waste your money and time. I don't even want to say how my whole experience was because it makes me so upset. If you are planning for a surprise gift or anything to a special person do not choose this site. I would give zero stars.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL - DO NOT USE!!!! Ordered champagne (paid a premium to upgrade this) and strawberries, a month before I wanted them delivered so loads of notice. What arrived was cheese, cookies and cheap Prosecco. Customer services were rude, slow to respond and eventually stopped responding at all so that’s £200 down the drain :D Absolute daylight robbery I don’t know how they are still trading.

DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, HOPES

I’m soooooo disappointed and embarrassed at the basket actually delivered vs. what I ordered. This is the 2nd time I’ve used this site and I’m so shocked, because the first time was great. So, I decided to reach out to Customer Service hoping for a sincere/helpful resolution. Per the response from Customer Service, "We do take careful steps to ensure that all orders exceed expectations.” I ordered this basket way in advance (giving ample time to find the correct liquor ordered which is definitely not a scarce item), and up to the last email of shipping there was no indication of substitution. So, I struggle to see what "careful" steps were taking to ensure orders exceed expectations. In addition, I didn't order a standard gift basket where they would have to put it together based on whatever was "had available" - it was a very specific request that I paid premium $65.00 for to have JOHNNIE WALKER BLACK LABEL 12 YEAR OLD SCOTCH WHISKY AND NOT A $60.00 CHIVAS REGAL 12 YEAR OLD SCOTCH WHISKY (NOTE: THESE ARE ALL COPY/PASTE FROM THE WEB WEBSITE, REFLECTING THE PREMIUM PRICE YOU'RE SELLING THEM FOR) Based on the substitution policy Customer Service noted in their response "Some items may be temporarily unavailable due to various reasons beyond our immediate control, under which circumstances we reserve the right to substitute such items with similar products of equal or greater value to ensure that orders are delivered in a timely manner without incurring further delays, which is why I received a different liquor." However, they did NOT substitute my item with similar products of equal or greater value - kindly note the DIFFERENCE IN PRICE for the liquor I ordered at a premium price of $66 vs. the liquor in the basket of $60. THIS IS NOT equal or greater value and therefore violates the terms of their own policy Customer Service quotes and NOT IN COMPLIANCE with their own substitution policy. In addition, I paid extra for a "It's Your Day - Birthday Cake Balloon 18", yet this was NOT included in the package nor addressed in the response from Customer Service, I tried to clarify with them if this was also substituted per their substitution policy and was “substituted” with an invisible balloon for equal or greater value (no response yet from Customer Service). I was asked to provide pictures of what was received for them to investigate and I provided instantly. One week later, still no response from Customer Service so I followed-up, and no response. Then followed-up again 2 days later only to receive the SAME/COPY/PASTE generic response they sent previously - "Some items may be temporarily unavailable due to various reasons beyond our immediate control, under which circumstances we reserve the right to substitute such items with similar products of equal or greater value to ensure that orders are delivered in a timely manner without incurring further delays…..” When I asked why am I getting the SAME response they sent 1 week ago vs. addressing my questions below, I was told “because your (my) situation has not changed:” 1. Why my liquor was substitute with a LOWER value liquor and NOT substituted with similar products of equal or greater value (per their Substitution Policy) 2. What happened to the Birthday Balloon I paid extra for – what was that substituted with since this was NOT in the basket. Are you KIDDING ME, a week later your response is because my “situation has not changed?” NO ONE has addressed my two issues above, so I really DON’T SEE what did not changed. From the UNACCEPTABLE basket received in violation of their OWN POLICY they keep quoting to the USELESS/UNPROFESSIONAL customer “disservice” received, I am at a loss for words. We’re in a PANDEMIC, and yet they have no care or human inkling to do the right thing, they have no idea what I moved around/sacrificed to be able to afford to send that gift and I thought they were a wise investment after a previous successful outcome – wow. So in summary, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, HOPES ordering from this Company – they are heartless, take no care whatsoever with your items to even ensure they remotely follow their own policy and when you try to get them to resolve their unacceptable service they hide behind generic copy/paste responses vs. addressing your concerns with any human care. THEY SIMPLY DO NOT CARE, so if you want a gift sent with CARE/THOUGHTFULNESS and remotely close to what you’re putting together in your order, then PLEASE USE ANOTHER COMPANY.

Worst company

Worst company - sent a Lest We Forget card - instead of a Sympathy and Condolence card. Left a fruit basket out in the rain earlier than chosen delivery date. If I could give zero stars I would. Have not answered any of my emails.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I ordered a gift for a friend with 2 day delivery and it was delivered in 8 days. Not only that but they did not deliver what I ordered. The gift basket is called "wine and dark chocolate gift set" which includes a bottle of wine with 2 boxes of dark chocolate (I paid extra for the second box) and a wine bottle opening kit. The wine was not the correct brand (cheaper in fact), the kit was a cheaper looking version than in the picture and instead of getting 2 boxes of dark chocolate they sent one and it was almond toffee! My friend is allergic to almonds! I mean the gift includes dark chocolate in the name! They should have just called it "wine and whatever". After contacting them they did not offer any exchange or reimbursement. They said by buying from them I agreed to their substitution policy which states they can substitute any item for another item of equal or greater value. So they can't even follow their own policy since the substitutions were not with similar items/ items of equal or greater value and one item was missing. They have terrible customer service and I don't know how they are still in business. They deserve 0 stars.
