I bid for an upgrade to business class, which they emailed to say was successful. At check in, I was told the plane had been changed and I was back in economy. However, they have still charged me the upgrade fee and are proving a nightmare to deal with to get it back. I suspect it's a scam. Fraudulent airline - avoid if you can.
Worst experience ever! First a 2.5 hour flight delay, after which we were kept locked in the plane for another 3 hours without information about what the technicians who were walking around looking at the plane outside actually have to check up on? - is the plane broken? The plane is disgusting, the seatbacks are gone, there are beetles eating scraps from the floor. No information and communication from the staff. After the confinement, a course of chaos ensues at a transfer desk with incompetent staff - 8-10 people at work, 3-4 sitting at the computers, only one man knew what to do and he was repeatedly interrupted by colleagues and shouting customers. The staff just look dead in the eyes! It took 6 hours before we got other tickets. No offer of a hotel as the hotel at the airport was full and the other they could offer was an hour away.. offer of a measly sandwich and then able to sleep on the chairs at the airport - until we found out we were just rebooked on it already defective flights that were just postponed until the next morning - there was never a gate on that flight - we went in line again and were rebooked to Qatar Airlines departing an hour later - when we flew, there was still no gate on the defective flight ( UL217) - I hope it's gone straight to the scrapyard - it's not safe to travel with. Stay away from this company - it is worth waiting hours and paying more than experiencing the incompetence of this company.
Appalling experience. A group of 10 of us returned from Colombo last week and 9 out of 10 bags were not sent plus 1 is still stuck in Colombo. You can’t get hold of anyone, you can email, phone and wait for an hour then get cut-off. I have messaged everyone including the CEO but not holding my breath. Planes are old and shabby and the seats are like sitting on a plank of wood.
Die Sitze sind mit Kabelbinder befestigt worden, das innere Seitenfenster lies sich von einem Kind ca. 3-4 cm ganz einfach nach außen drücken, die Sitze sind uralt und die Querstreben der Sitze sind genau in der Mitte des Rückgrades. Monitore haben Risse oder ließen sich in den Vordersitz drücken, um den Touchscreen zu betätigen. Eine Stewardess mußte im Laufschritt beim Starten an ihren Sitz rennen Solche Maschinen sollten aus dem Verkehr gezogen werden.
Hi,Had we read the 80% +negative reviews before we booked this airline,perhaps we would have chosen another. But we did,nt and having paid for the tickets were horrified to read what our people had said about Sri Lankan Airlines. But from our experience they were no better or worse than their competitors,the food was ok the wine plentiful and the flight staff friendly and attentive ,so from our personal experience we could not see why so many people thought this airline was so poor.??? We would happily fly with them again and wonder what all the fuss and negativity was about ???
We flew Sri Lankan Airlines from Colombo to Frankfurt on January 5, 2024. The flight left Colombo Airport almost three hours late. Although it was an 11 hour flight, they made no attempt to make up for lost time. So we arrived in Frankfurt three hours late, and as a result we missed our connecting flight to the US. There was no one from the Sri Lankan Airlines at the Frankfurt Airport to help us rebook our flight. We were completely abandoned by the Sri Lankan Airlines. Finally a kind local travel agent helped us out. Later we read that this kind of lateness is typical with this airline. We will never fly with them again!
Disappointed with experience.
Flight was delayed with 3,5 hours so I missed my connecting flight.. they not do anything to help. They didn’t even care. I hear this has happened to many people.
My flight was cancelled and I was assured at the airport that expenses would be reimbursed as a result. It has been 4 months and I have not had a response to my email which has my flight details and photos of receipts. I have chased this 3 times and still not heard back so I have to assume that this company does not have a customer services department. I do not recommend flying with them.
I’m Sri Lankan, but I have to say this: Sri Lankan Airlines is the worst airline I’ve ever had. Their customer service providers are really bad; they don’t know what they’re doing. People are waiting at the airport because of flight delays.
Schlimmste Fluggesellschaft der Welt! Cancelled den Flug, benachrichtigt nicht mal korrekt und kümmert sich auch nicht um Umbuchung oder Rückerstattung. Am Telefon wird man von ihm Kreis herumgereicht, aber keiner will sich um die Rückerstattung oder Umbuchung kümmern von denen. Nehmt auf jeden Fall Emirates, wenn ihr nach Sri Lanka wollt. Meidet Sri Lankan Airlines um jeden Preis - Probleme sind da garantiert!
On December 26th, 2023, while flying on SriLankan Airlines' connecting flight QF 3423 from Singapore to Colombo with my husband, two-year-old daughter, and mother, I encountered a deeply disappointing experience with the ground staff. In stark contrast to the delightful service we received from Qantas on the Sydney-Singapore leg, the SriLankan staff unfairly accused us of exceeding the allowed four hand luggages ,baby bag and three laptop bags ,despite all being under the size and weight limits. The staff tried to charge me for excess baggage. They refused to listen to my explanations, treating me with complete disregard for my concerns. Adding to the stress, they denied us the use of our stroller during boarding in Sydney due to 'short staff,' making it incredibly difficult to manage our young daughter. This unprofessional behavior and unnecessary pressure, which ultimately caused a 35-minute delay, have completely discouraged me from ever choosing SriLankan Airlines again.
Someone stole money from my suitcase at Colombo airport. After 2 weeks, they finally reacted and sent me an email that it was my fault basically because I shouldn't have left the money there. Sadly, they just encouraging employees to steal whatever they wish because there's no punishment or any investigation. Terrible service. Lock your suitcases, please.
Really bad airline - they cancelled my flight (3 passengers) four days in advance - Not offering any alternative but same flight one week later. Cancellation four days before take-off cost a lot of money if you have to find new tickets ... Never again ! PS: and now I hear that it takes 3 to 4 months to get a refund back to my account.
After at terrible flight from London to Colombo on Business class where the seat didn't work (not able to change position or lie down without a technician with tools) my complaint wasn't heard at all. I tried 7 mails to customer service but after I got below case number I heard nothing. No refund, no communication and no acknowledgement of the poor service. Complaint no: CMB/P/IW/2023.10.18/22669
My flights were fine but getting a refund for one that I had to cancel is a nightmare. The airline has agreed to refund me and says the authorisation has been passed to the finance team but no money has arrived .
DO NOT FLY WITH SRI LANKAN AIRLINES. Firstly, their planes are old and the entertainment systems were faulty and did not work on our plane. But most infuriating thing is that our bags have been lost for 48 hours and we have had NO UPDATE. Our bags never turned up in Paris, and CDG baggage assistance couldn’t find any scans by Sri Lankan airlines in the system. We tried calling multiple Sri Lankan airlines numbers for assistance but couldn’t get through. CDG lodged a lost luggage complaint with Sri Lankan airlines and it’s been 48 hours and we haven’t heard a thing. We have emailed for assistance multiple times. Appalling service, no idea where our bags are and left us with NOTHING for our 4 day trip in Paris.
This airline operates like a scam. Avoid at all costs. They cancelled one of my multi route flights without rebooking. Their customer service team lacked basic skills to provide accurate information for how to cancel ticket or comprehend issues. They were unable to provide updates on refund requests. Just standard responses directing to an inadequate website. Aweful and pre historic!!!
Pathetic/ Horrible experience To be honest this was my first time trying Sri Lankan Airways and it was such an awful journey and I will never ever fly with Sri Lankan airlines never again.Ti start with my journey from TVM-Colombo-LHR had been changed just a few hours before the schedule departure and it has been Changed to Kochin-Colombo-LHR I had to travel 600km to take the flight 12 hours before my flight I also spent from my own pocket INR 15000 and the amount of stress caused to catch the flight was pathetic.Regarding my outward journey from LHR-Colombo-TV It had been changed thrice. My original outward journey was on the 26th of Novemember (LHR-Colombo-TVM) then they changed to 1st of December and again it was changed to 3rd of December due to flight from Colombo-TVM had been cancelled.At the end I was fully assured on the 3 rd of December UL 504 from LHR at 20:40 to Colombo and then 19 hour wait at Colombo and I was assured that I was arranged an accommodation at full moon hotel with a taxi transfer up and down to the airport and catch 5th December 8:20 am flight UL 161 from Colombo-TVM had been booked.I was also tolded my luggage would go from LHR-TVM. So I could collect my luggage from TVM airport. On the 3rd of December I reached LHR check in desk to drop the bags and lady at the desk kept us waiting and informed I can get only the boarding pass from LHR to Colombo and I need to collect the luggage from Colombo and wait until my next flight and drop it at Colombo airport and then colllect from TVM I was absolutely shocked and furious as I am 68 years old and contradictory message between the booking agent and the check in desk so I had to ask the supervisor to double check and she went into Srilanka Airlines ticketing counter to verify and the gentleman agreed that the luggage check in at LHR will come direct to TVM as well as full moon hotel booked and taxi arranged at the transfer desk they cant issue a boarding pass in London for flight between Colombo-TVM since it is a 19 hour stop over .So I dropped my luggage and went to the security to catch my flight UL 504 from gate 29 from LHR to Colombo and that flight was delayed by an hour once I reached Colombo the suprise starts I went to the transfer desk with my E ticket/ hotel accommodation and asked them to assist they straight away said no accommodation no transport has been arranged you need to make your own plan and no assistance or clear communication was not made I was so disappointed. That I had to wait 19 hours in Colombo to catch my next flight so I called my son-in law in London in tears he contacted.SriLankan airways on my behalf and the agent meantionee definitely accomidation booked in Fullmoon hotel,taxi arranged between to and from the airport and booked all in place.I need to contact the duty officer to re check so I disconnected the phone and went to the transfer counter to check with the chief officer from the transfer desk he double checked and printed the hotel accommodation for me but he said no transport for you had been arranged you need to make your own plan so I was disappointed and I am staying at the airport for 19 hours without any food and no assistance or any lounge access.Ask you can see I’m a senior citizen and was treated very badly and my stress level w
