My first time renting
My first time renting - website was good - looking forward to the rental.
Routes Car Rental has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.

BRITTANY HAD EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! MADE FOR A GREAT FIRST EXPERIENCE!!!
They are just Scammers!!!, They charge a lot for insurance and charged me for a traffic violation committed by someone else who rented before me. These guys are just the worst. Avoid them and you have dodged a bullet
How do I start? We took a anniversary trip May 29, 2025 the shuttle showed up finally after seeing every other company pass by numerous times. We heard before we got to the location there was a 2.5 - 3 hour wait to get a car. They were correct we waited over 2.5 hours to get a rental. We missed our anniversary dinner reservations because of it. When we returned the rental with full gas and no damages and even though I prepaid in full they sent me a charge for fees and taxes plus mileage and this was a unlimited mileage rental! THIS IS A SCAMMER COMPANY BEWARE!!!
SLIMY CAR RENTAL COMPANY! DO NOT USE! My wife and I had the worst car rental experience at the Commerce City, CO location. To summarize the issues: * Upon arrival on June 7, 2025 we were forced to wait over two hours in line before being assisted by a customer service representative. * Once at the counter, we were informed that the insurance we already purchased --which covered up to $75,000--was not valid. We were told we would be unable to rent the car unless I purchased additional insurance at the desk, despite already having sufficient coverage. This practice is not only unethical-it is illegal. * Under duress and significant time pressure, we purchased the additional insurance solely because we had no other option and were already two hours behind schedule due to Route's insane delay. Then over 2 weeks after returning the car, we were then charged $166.01 without prior notification or explanation. After spending over an hour on the phone with your customer service, I was told this charge was for a traffic violation--yet I have received no documentation or evidence confirming the nature or timing of this violation, nor any notice before the charge was applied to my account. When I asked to speak with a member of management, they provided me with their customer service email. After repeated attempts to speak to someone verbally, they hung up on me. This entire experience has been unacceptable. We will pursue legal action and will not hesitate to file formal complaints with the Colorado Attorney General's Office, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and relevant consumer protection agencies.
Page time out i got 2 charges
DO NOT RENT THROUGH "ROUTES RENTAL CAR !" This was by far the WORST, SHADY & UNPROFESSIONAL experience I have ever had. I Booked through Super.com, as did several other customers who had the same experience. We arrived to Denver Co. had to take a shuttle 20min away for pickup and wait 2.5 hours before a car was available. According to staff they were out of vehicles so we had to wait for cars to arrive and washed for us to rent. There were more than 50 people in the lobby waiting so it was obvious they double & triple booked. Once you got to the front there were tons of hidden fees & because Routes is based outside of the US half the staff did not understand English so it was difficult to communicate & if you tried to contact them before, during or after your trip with questions or concerns you can not get a hold of Anyone. The employees care less about customer service & don't even address you professionally. When we returned the vehicle, the process was to leave the car with keys on the dash and go about your day. I had questions since the beginning of the rental process was so shady. I wanted a receipt & make sure they knew the gas tank was full. They ignored my request. There was a young lady sitting in the front seat so I asked if she was checking in my car, she ignored me the entire time and was on her phone texting. Not once did she looked up or acknowledged me. After several times of asking She verbalized everything would be emailed. I still haven't gotten an email & when I called to ask for it to be emailed I was told they couldn't do anything about it. So end of the day it looks great upfront but I fear I will be paying close to 900.00 for a rental that should have only been 300.00 for the weekend. It's a SCAM protect yourself and pay a little more for peace of mind.
If I could give them zero stars I would! This review is for Routes car rental in Puerto Rico. STAY AWAY! We waited more than 4 hours in line, just to find out they were out of cars. They overbook, have no cars for you, so employees disappear from the front desk until they get a car returned and are able to rent it back. We had a PAID reservation for a minivan, and we had to take a smaller car (that was just returned) because they were unable to tell us when a minivan was going to be available. This after more than 4 hours waiting. To make it worse, the SUV we rented was infested with roaches. AGAIN, STAY AWAY!
Joke of a car rental company. They designate you a no-show even if you tel them your flight is delayed. They won’t help you alter anything on your reservation. Not a good experience. Won’t use them ever again
the employees were so nice to us, and they helped all the time -mr. sengh -NIKHL
We rented a car while we were in Vancouver, BC earlier this month. Pick up from airport was prompt and driver very friendly. Check in to get the car was painless and quick. They gave us a larger car that we were use to and after we drove it less than a mile, we took it back and exchanged it for a smaller vehicle that we felt more comfortable with. Car was brand new. When we returned it, that process went very smooth also. Everyone was very friendly. Would definitely rent from them again.
A Bitter Car Rental Experience in Canada: A Warning for Travelers. A few months before my trip from Australia, I booked a car online from Routes car rental company in Canada and paid the full rental and insurance fees. After a long flight from Australia to Toronto, I proceeded to pick up the car. However, I realized that this company does not have an office at the airport, and the shuttle buses designated to take passengers to their parking lot were very far from the airport. I was forced to take a taxi at my own expense to their parking facility. Upon arrival at their location, the internet connection was constantly unstable (on and off), and they were unable to provide proper service. Despite having fully paid for the car in advance, apparent technical issues with their payment system prevented them from processing the deposit amount from my card. They unreasonably refused to hand over the car I had already rented and paid for, using various excuses such as "my card wasn't working." Furthermore, the staff were very inexperienced and lacked proper customer service skills. Ultimately, they neither gave me the car nor did they refund any money. Immediately after this unpleasant experience, I returned to the airport and easily rented a car from another company using the exact same documents and Visa card. This clearly indicates that the problem was not with my card, but rather stemmed from Routes' technical issues and lack of proper service. It appears this company seizes customers' money for various reasons, and unfortunately, as a traveler in Canada, you receive no support whatsoever. Please be extremely careful and avoid this company!
false advertising. advertised $130.00 for a pickup truck for 5 days, but in the end I was charged over $400.00
Do not rent from this placeThis place would not let us rent a vehicle from them with a valid credit card debit card or cash. Ethically they left a woman and her 16 year-old daughter stranded in the middle of nowhere in Orlando Florida. Then the credit card they would not take they charged us $75 Because we did not cancel 48 hours prior to the trip.
Day was very helpful, she really take her time to explain, I have a great experience
BEWARE - Routes requires proof of your own insurance, then forces you to pay up to $40/day for their insurance. This INVALIDATES the insurance you ALREADY HAVE on your credit card, and then you are RESPONSIBLE for a $3,500 deductible for ANY incidents or tiny damages to the car. Then they keep your credit card on file, auto-charge your card for that deductible, and refrain from informing you of the charge until 14+ days afterwards, to make sure it clears and makes it harder for your credit card to get the money back from them. This is borderline fraudulent, it's shocking they get away with it. COME PREPARED - be sure to get proof of your own insurance, which very likely is provided by your credit card, otherwise you will end up owing them money to maintain their cars. They provided me with a jeep with a faulty tire, which exploded on the freeway at 60mph and put my life at risk. Because they forced me to purchase their crummy insurance, my credit card rental insurance (which has $0 deductibe) was cancelled and they auto-charged my card for nearly $2,000 to fix their bad tire and the body damage caused by the blowout. Also, their customer service immediately goes on defensive when you inform them of any incident - and then sets up to protect themselves at any turn, fights you, and provides hardly any information so that you struggle to be prepared with questions coming from the credit card company. HORRIBLE COMPANY. I recommend not using at all, it is not worth the risk!!
