⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Service and Fast Help! We had a great experience with Routes in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The staff was polite, helpful, and professional. We had an issue with the front tire on the first SUV we rented, but when I returned, they quickly and smoothly switched us to another SUV with no hassle. The whole process took about 30 minutes, and the new vehicle was perfect—clean, comfortable, and just what we needed. I rented for 5 days back in May and was so satisfied that I already booked again for our next trip. Customer service was amazing—thank you!

Positives: easy airport pickup and drop off, friendly staff, car as ordered. Negatives: 2 hour standing inline wait for car, bait and switch pricing using terms as "borders" when in fact they are talking about state lines, extra charges incurred, car filthy, never cleaned so dirty you couldn't see damage on windscreen if it was there, car given had range of 34 miles in tank comment was "fill up quickily"! At drop off no receipt given only emailed later with incorrect fuel notification. After 40 years of car renting both nationally and internationally I would have to recommend "stay with the known brands and don't get hood winked by the lower pricing, not worth the mental anguish! Note:routes was selected via sky scanner app, economy car rentals group. I for one will never use economy car rental again period.

Easy to book, cheaper than at the airport and hope everything goes well when I pick up the car!

Extended time and non-beatable prices

They lure you with cheaper prices and when you reach at location to pick up your vehicle, all the term and condition changes. They dont have any clear information visible while making the booking online. I rented a vehicle online, next day when I went there to pick it up, they stated that the insurance is getting their own insurance is mandatory and my insurance is no good. Also previous I called their customer servuce to confirm the daily KMs limit, which was communicated to be 200kms/day. At the location this guy told me that its only 25kms/day and I will be paying per km change if I drive more than 25 kms in a day. Big scam, never rent your vehicle from here.

One of your car attendants almost hit my brothers car despite us honking in advance to get his attention. This is really bad and unprofessional and we could have been in the hospital …. Thank God it wasn’t an accident. Also the way you guys operate were you pressure your customers to buy insurance is disgusting …. I don’t think I will ever come here again

Easy to book. Convenient for myself that they accept Amex. Nice clean car, & lots of options. Open late & still was able to pick up a very last minute reservation. No issues. Will definitely book with Routes again.

I'm a Florida resident who found out I couldn't rent the vehicle that I picked out online because I'm a Florida resident with a Florida driver's license. Had it been clearer or disallowed during checkout that I wasn't allowed to rent a car, I wouldn't have wasted my time getting dropped off at Routes Orlando. EDIT: It was a $20 mistake because that's how much what I thought would be an awesome deal cost. If it's too good to be true, folks, it's usually because it is, and Routes teaches this lesson very well. Don't make the same mistake I made because they really stick to their policy, despite pleading with them for an exception for my $20 back.

I strongly urge travelers to avoid Routes Car Rental in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After returning my rental vehicle in good condition, I was blindsided with a $200 cleaning fee for a small amount of sand on the driver's side floor mat. This is a common and minor occurrence in a tropical, beach-adjacent location like Puerto Rico. The fee is entirely unreasonable, especially considering the photos they themselves provided clearly show the car was returned in good condition. Yet, in all written correspondence, they falsely described the vehicle as "extremely dirty." That is factually incorrect and incredibly misleading. In addition, I was forced to purchase additional insurance at the counter, even though I provided valid documentation proving that I already had rental coverage through my primary provider. They rejected it without cause and charged me anyway. The vehicle also had a tire leak, which required me to stop multiple times and refill it with air using my own funds. When I brought this to their attention, they denied it ever happened. Routes Car Rental dismissed all of my concerns, denied my refund request, and claimed none of my issues were valid despite photo evidence and documentation to the contrary. This company operates dishonestly, takes advantage of travelers, and hides behind deceptive practices. I am sharing this review to warn others and to encourage Routes to reconsider and refund the unjust charges applied to my rental.
