Routes Car Rental – Misleading and Untrustworthy I booked a one-day rental at Atlanta Airport through Priceline with Routes Car Rental. The total price was clearly shown as $53, all taxes and fees included. However, when I arrived to pick up the car, they tried to charge me an additional $50 for insurance — even though I had valid coverage and didn’t need theirs. This extra charge was never mentioned during the booking process. They refused to release the car unless I paid for their insurance. I declined and left without the car. On the shuttle, I spoke with another customer who said they weren’t even allowed to see their final bill. That confirmed it’s not just me — this seems like a pattern. Routes Car Rental operates with hidden fees, poor transparency, and aggressive upselling tactics. I do not recommend this company to anyone. Avoid them at all costs.

We came to routes rentals a little cautious because of the reviews. I can't speak to others experience, but ours was stellar if a tiny bit unorganized. Considering that Routes was $2,300 less expensive, the value for money absolutely trounces our recent experiences with Enterprise and Budget. The Verdict: I would absolutely use Routes again, no question. Fantastic value for money. Simran was a standout employee, just lovely. The Good: Free upgrade from a compact to a lovely VW SUV, which was super clean and ran brilliantly. Not a single problem with the vehicle, just outstanding. The service at the desk was friendly. Their flexibility around coming from New Zealand with no credit card was astonishing. Enterprise and Budget have been massive problems in this area in the past. Every routes driver and desk worker was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. On return, the shuttle arrived about 10 minutes after we did, so fast. We were loaded onto the shuttle in no time and at the airport in about 20 minutes total. The Bad: We knew to return the car to the back of the building, but the exact dropoff location and the dropoff process were a bit confusing. They could do with more signage back there. Communication was poor. They answered my pickup questions about 5 days after we picked the car up. Fortunately there were no issues with the pickup. Airport staff guided us where we needed to go. The good was so good and the bad was so inconsequential that Routes is a no-brainer. Thanks Routes!
The was the worst car rental place I have ever used. It's located in Illinois, but they don't rent to state residents. The offer a lower rental rate airport travelers with unlimited miles. There is a sign in the booking room that states "Tell the Agent if you are traveling out of State". I did. When I return the car and asked for my receipt the agent said. "I email it to you. When I got the email at the airport it had $234 in extra charges for driving car out of state. They didn't state this when I book the car and I didn't sign anything agreeing to it. They are scammers.
We had a fantastic experience renting a car with Routes! Jie was incredibly clear in explaining everything, leaving no room for questions. Her cheerful demeanor and pleasant conversation made the process enjoyable. The unexpected upgrade significantly enhanced our trip. The worst car rental agency ever do not ever rent from them. Their main headquarters are nothing but scammers looking for money none nothing against the local employees but the management and headquarters are nothing but scammers

Un ENGAÑO TOTAL, un ROBO. Reserve on line para 3 días en Chicago (10 al 13 de junio hora 4 pm) con un coste 186 $. Al llegar a recoger el coche indicamos que queremos cogerlo a las 10 am, por lo que nos indican que nos tienen que cobrar un dia entero adicional, hasta el 14 junio a las 10 am. El nuevo coste es de 302 $, y que aceptamos. El problema es que al entregar el coche el dia 13 junio a las 6pm, es decir antes de tiempo contratado nos indican que en la ficha se reflejaba que se tenia que entregar el 13 junio a las 4pm, por lo que nos cobran otro dia adicional, en total 410$. El tema es que el empleado de turno no modificó la nueva fecha y hora, pero si nos lo cobro. Desde la oficina no nos hicieron ni caso en nuestras explicaciones y hemos pagado 108$ de mas. NO VUELVO A CONTRATAR EN LA VIDA, Y RECOMIENDO A TODOS QUE NO CONTRATEN CON ESTA EMPRESA

Hello. This review and complaint is about booking NRLD834449. My name is Hedye Cantizano Dias. As of today, after a month, my deposit hasnt been released, our signed contract states that deposit will be released up to 15 business days. I had to open a claim with Department of Consumer Affairs of Puerto Rico with case number 0000048385. Also i had to request the help of Telemundo Responde, who are working on an investigation to help me get my deposit. Its a clear violation of our contract and i will push all the legal ways to get my deposit released. Im contacting my state senator office and the office of CFPB Ombudsman, also the Consumer FInancial Protection Bureau. I will do everything i can to get my deposit. Is better for the company to release it because im also goign in person to the office this weekend and i will tell very LOUD to everyone there my situation. I will refer them to Google Maps, where the company has over 1200 complaints for not returning the deposits. SO be smart and return my deposit. Thank you.

I had a disappointing experience with Routes Car Rental regarding a recent reservation I needed to cancel. Due to an urgent change in travel plans caused by conflict in the Middle East and flight cancellations, I attempted to cancel my booking well in advance. Unfortunately, I found the cancellation policy to be vague and unclear, especially when dealing with an international situation. Even though their policy mentions the option to cancel 48 hours before pickup, the process to actually do so was confusing and poorly supported. I also called their customer service line, but the representative I spoke with was not helpful and provided little guidance, eventually telling me to send an email instead. This added more stress during an already difficult time. Clearer communication and a more supportive customer service approach would go a long way in building trust with customers—especially those traveling from abroad. I hope Routes can improve its transparency and service moving forward.
🚨Avoid at All Costs! Worst Car Rental Experience Ever with Routes Rent A Car🚨 If I could give zero stars, I would. Renting from Routes Rent A Car was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. First of all, their customer service is atrocious—rude, unhelpful, and completely uninterested in solving problems. My flight was delayed, and not only did they fail to wait (which any decent rental company would accommodate), but they also made zero effort to assist when I finally arrived. On top of that, they require a ridiculously high deposit, far above industry standards, with vague and shady policies around returns. The entire process felt like a scam designed to trap and frustrate customers. Save yourself the headache and the money—DO NOT rent from this company. There are many better, more professional alternatives out there. Routes Rent A Car is, without a doubt, the worst rental experience I’ve ever had. Travelers beware!
