Review summary

Rightio receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from customers, with many expressing frustration over high fees and poor communication. Numerous reviewers describe the company as a "scam," citing unexpected charges, such as £226 for an estimate, and a lack of follow-through on promised services. Customers report long wait times for emergency plumbing, with some waiting hours without any response. However, there are a few positive mentions of the engineers themselves, who are described as helpful and friendly, providing quick service when they do arrive. Despite these isolated positive experiences, the majority of reviews highlight significant dissatisfaction with Rightio's reliability and transparency. Overall, the sentiment is predominantly negative, with many customers advising against using the service.

Awful company

I would give no stars if I could I still have the problem, with a company that charges half of what these charge coming to sort it The plumber came out did not do anything apart from put some unblocking fluid down the toilet, which is something I tried, Never investigated the underlying problem never looked down the manhole in fact did nothing When I called with my concerns I was told " When we get the report from the plumber we will call you back" Perhaps 2 weeks later the report has not been handed in, as no phone calls ever came, also in the advert I saw they quoted discount for OAPS, My mother is 91 and never got the discount How old do you have to be to qualify?¿ I am now paying another company to do the same job, they have already investigated and know what the issue is, My advice Use a different cheaper company

THE WORST OF THE WORST.

This is by a long way the worst and most dysfunctional company i have ever dealt with. I could write a book about how bad the service has been but i'll keep it brief for the latest incident. The boiler they installed 2 months ago is not working correctly. Issue was raised 03/01/26 and it took 20 days for them to get someone out. In that time i had 5 cancelled appointments at last minute due to reasons such as ( technician ordered wrong part, gone AWOL, no appointment actually booked when i was told to be there at 8.30am by a manager the previous day) . When they eventually turned up 5 hours late for the appointment they didnt have any tools or parts to do the job, I have spent the last 3 weeks calling up to 6 times a day to arrange an appointment and had emailed a report from boiler manufacturer 2 weeks ago on request from Rightio stating issue and required parts. Told on 2 separate occasions an engineer was picking up the mentioned part to replace which were both untrue. The level of service is frighteningly bad, customer service reps who dont care and technicians who dont get told anything before arrival. No heating in my apartment for the whole of January due to this terrible company who have strung me along for 3 weeks. A disgrace of a company who cannot be believed or trusted with any word they say.

I would leave a 0 if I could, I’m a plumber and gas engineer, not only have Rightio been an absolute nightmare to contact and speak to somebody when something is needed. I was stood on a job trying to contact somebody for an hour with one of their customers because their own app wasn’t working to charge the customer for work id completed.🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ in my own time which you don’t get paid for, or when your stood in a merchant for 45 minutes waiting for somebody to answer so they can pay for the order they placed or you can’t leave the shop with materials to complete the actual job also my own time !!! I was contracting for them over the Christmas period doing jobs which were poorly reported with no idea on materials, they haven’t paid me for the work completed or even answered the phone or any emails since absolute joke of a company and I will be taking it further Untill I get my money

PLEASE STAY CLEAR RIP OFF.

Absolute would agree with the reviews for Rightio they sent out an electrician very but before doing that the operator over the phone was very quick to take my bank details I paid £202 for what I would say would be a 12 minute investigation of my fuse box and extension lead, I had no issues paying that bill but what I do take exception with is the person who took my email address haven't sent me a receipt for the job, I now know why the company is in the red. PLEASE STAY CLEAR RIP OFF.

Rip Off

I rang the company to come and give me an estimate on some work - I wanted a gas pipe moving closer to the wall in my home. They did not tell me that they were going to charge me £226 just for coming to give an estimate and then priced the job at over £800. I did not go ahead with the work as it was a complete rip off - DO NOT call this company for a quote or estimate.

Unless you are very rich don't use the company. Their hourly rates are absolutely disgusting they run through the blub when someone calls so fast that a senior can get very confused very quickly. This resulted in my elderly mother having to pay out £464 to have her toilet Syphon valve changed. The "plumber " that came round clearly wasted time so it ran over an hour by some 17 minutes meaning the charge was for 2 hours. Worse was to follow the toilet didn't work correctly and she had to get another plumber to sort it out. Use at your own peril

In the first instance

In the first instance, we were changing an older gas double oven for a new electric oven. When I read the adverts that Rightio had placed in our local community magazine, I thought they looked to be perfect for the job we needed done. However, when I called and tried to explain the job requirements, the people that I talked to seemed to have difficulty in understanding what I was saying. I was telling them that the hob was not in the same place as the double oven and it had it's own gas connection and electrical connection. What I wanted was a gas safe engineer to disconnect and cap the gas supply to the ovens. I eventually got through to someone and managed to get an appointment. I explained that it had to be after 9am as i had school runs before that for my two grandsons. The so called engineer arrived at 8am. Fortunately, my wife was up and could deal with it. On my return, my wife informed me that he was there for less than 15 minutes. However, he had apparently completed the work. As the capping was complete, I called back and and tried to arrange for an electrical engineer to replace the ovens. After a protracted conversation regarding the level of power that the new ovens are rated at, some electric rewiring may be required. The gent put me on hold so he could talk to the engineers. after along pause he returned and said that he would call back later. After a 5 hour wait I received a text stating that they would have to cancel the job. No explanation whatsoever. I contacted several local electricians, I found one that agreed to come round to view the job. when he removed the cupboard drawers he informed us that he could smell gas. He used a leak detection and showed us a picture of the bubbles caused by the leak. The gas main was shut off to prevent any further leakage. I called Rightio to inform them about the leak. when i talked to someone to explain the situation the call was cut off. As the call was cut off the electrician found a different number and got through. After a long conversation with them he managed to convince them that it needed immediate attention. They replied that they would put in an appointment the following day. He insisted that as the gas had to be shut off, this elderly couple had no central heating and it was very cold. They eventually called another engineer who would be there by 8pm. He did come as stated and investigated the leak and replaced the cap and tested the system. At least he seemed to be more professional than the previous chap. The first engineer came on the 14th and the leak wasn't found until the 19th. We were very fortunate that is was a relatively small leak and was found before a large build up formed. What is most surprising is the company did not seem to be concerned in the least about the fact that there was a leak. Or the fact that it could eventually result in explosion causing untold damage and loss of life or serious injury. If anyone is thinking about calling them, Please don't, the chaos and lack of urgency and the poor workmanship is not in keeping with their claims made in their advert of; work being guaranteed, highly experienced, fast response and flexible appointment times. None of which was apparent for this job.

Service was mostly ok

Service was mostly ok. I needed a Gas engineer and an electrician. Chap who took my call was very nice. Very professional. Time between first phone call and first appointment very quick, but unfortunately Gas Engineer couldn't make the first appointment as he had to attend an emergency. No one's fault. He returned a couple of days later. Was pleasant and professional. No problems. Electrician came later. Again, friendly but professional. Had to go to his car to fetch a cable, which he fitted. But no mention of cost. However, I was charged around £30.00 for it later. I felt the engineer should have confirmed the cost with me before hand. However, not a problem. Job was done fine. Overall experience 9/10.

Totally untrustworthy outfit

Totally untrustworthy outfit. I strongly advise you to not let these people past your front door particularly if you are elderly or vulnerable. Their modus operandi is to get you to sign up to there ‘Care club’ which is meant to guarantee you a boiler service and a discount on any other work. Do not be fooled ! Having torn up my floor boards I was told that there were leaks under the shower unit of a newly installed bathroom which was affecting pressure in the boiler. I would need to get this fixed before the service could be done. This would involve tearing up the new floor and shower unit at a cost of several thousand pounds. Pictures were taken of what was purported to be a leaking pipe. I paid £477.84 for this dubious privilege. The pipe was an old electrical pipe that never carried water and both my builder and the heating and plumbing firm that originally installed my boiler confirmed this having called them both out at my expense. They also told me that there was no damp or any leaks. I cancelled the standing order for the ‘care club’ as a result having established that Rightio were not to be trusted,I am now being threatened with legal action unless I pay for the rest of the year‘s balance on the care club fees. Despite a phone call and emails the threats continue.

Incompetent, unprofessional. Avoid

Called Rightio in to look at a leaking radiator. 'Plumber' arrived, took a brief look and a couple of photos and said that a new part was required. He then went outside to drain our central heating system until he could return. Later discovered that a payment of £194 had been taken, i.e. before any work was carried out and without permission. Our downstairs neighbours returned from holiday the next day to find that it was their system that had been drained not ours. They had to call out a plumber to fix this at a cost of over £100. We obviously had to reimburse them. Then called Rightio to cancel job. At that point queried why we had been charged before work done and was told this was a mistake and would be fed back. Got another plumber in who fixed the problem in under 10 minutes with no new part required and at significantly lower cost. Have emailed this company three times asking for refund together with consequential loss for our reimbursement to neighbours. Have received no response at all (Other than auto acknowledgement of initial email). Have now put in a Section 75 claim with credit card company. Awful experience - do not use these cowboys Update 21/1/26 - following Rightio reply I have sent them the job number and dates of previous emails but will be continuing with Section 75 claim pending outcome. Disapponting that only now they decide to engage with me

I had no heating hot water boiler Potterton Promax Ultra 11 yrs old Wanted it done quickly Call centre managed to find spot between 12 and 5 lol Got txt confirming I got another txt 10 mins later having paid 170 plus vat I looked briefly thinking it was just duplication It was in fact moving the appt to next day I then had a couple of missed calls rang back couldn’t get through Was told originally would get call half an hr before visit Got to 2 was just about to go to shop got missed calls rang back Tried to ring back no answer Assumed it was half hr .Waited and waited partly me however was that same day spot ever available Error 365 electrical issue few possible probs Eng came next day was there nearly 2 hrs after telling me how poor and unreliable my boiler was that’s why they have only a 2 yr warranty (it has been ok for 11 yrs )He then mentioned a boiler with a ten yr guarantee maybe perhaps the one they install ?A Current test must take seconds He said after that time of nearly 2 hrs including a 30 minute call he thought it was a control circuit problem and they would quote me for replacing He wasn’t sure though and suggested I would be better replacing boiler as this might not work First of all I could have looked on the net and guessed what was wrong with it myself without the cost Secondly it is essential to look at the control panel to see obvious probs soldering burns etc I have no idea what took so long as I did not stand over him But am suspicious that the time was spent pressing and re pressing reset in the hope that I would believe every possibility had been exhausted When I pay a professional I expect them to tell me what is wrong not take money and leave me no better off It’s like taking a car to the garage and being told it could be your piston rings or u might need a new engine Despite having apparently risked life and limb switching it off and on himself he condemned the boiler with the little paper frightener . Then he left me a sheet which was on British Gas headed paper . Factually they failed

Absolute disgrace.

I’m in the trade myself and unfortunately my grandparents boiler went down when I was working 200+ miles away so unfortunately what I’d usually be able to sort wasn’t possible, this company charged my grandparents 410 great British pounds to clear out a condense trap… bloke was there for just shy of 2 hours! Absolute disgrace, a half hour job somehow managed to run for nearly 2 hours! My grandmother is 81 and my grandfather is 85 and has Parkinson’s, absolutely disgusting do not recommend unless you want your loved ones to be absolutely ripped off! My advice is find local plumbers who’d do that job for more then half of the price of this so called company and to stay away from this absolute disgrace of a company!

This company lacks professional integrity and quality!

If I could give no stars, I would. Rightio attended our call out repair, which led to follow-up appointments. They were sub-contracted through a boiler service plan that we have and they were making too many errors to list in full detail. They also failed to be honest. Their service report contained images of another customer's boiler, we were quoted for parts and labour that was not required, they seemed in a hurry to move to the next job and were guessing what the boiler issue may be, even saying that a PCB board may need replacing, then I pointed to the connection that I could see that was clearly not connected. They realised that they made a mistake due to lack of diligence. Their poor work led to my service plan being removed at no fault of my own, nearly accepting almost £400 worth of work, which was not required or ultimately seeking an expensive quote for a new gas boiler, which would of not been required. The Gas Engineer failed to spot that the real fault was a electrical pump connection, which was separate from the gas boiler. If I can give any new customers advice, it would be find an alternative plumbing service. Rightio, before you ask, I do not wish to speak with your customer service, as my time and patience has been exhausted.

The only thing these guys do well is…

The only thing these guys do well is LIE and employ unreliable plumbers. I was told by them that a plumber would be with me on Thursday 8th January between 12 noon and 5pm. At 4,30pm I called them to find out where the plumber was , I was told "he's round the corner and will be with you shortly". I then got a text to say he will be with you between 5pm - 8pm. He never turned up. Must be a long bloody corner!! On Friday 9th January after holding for 45 minutes I eventually got thorough to them and I was told the weather was bad yesterday so he didn't show up. That's a lie - there was no snow or freezing weather where I live and he was round the corner anyway so therefore here! Furthermore No Plumber was available on 9th, 10th, 11th January and they booked me in on the 12th January. They claim to care 365 days a year in their advertising - clearly not on 9th, 10th and 11th January. UPDATE - 12th January The lying continues from these crooks. At 3.10pm on 12th January I rang as no plumber had arrived, I was told he will definitely be with you by 5pm, apparently they spoke to the plumber and he had confirmed that. At 3.50pm they called me and told me the plumber wasn't coming today as he was ill. Did he have a stroke between 3.10pm and 3.50pm, maybe catch Ebola ?? Reality is you are lying again or the plumber is lying to you. Either way you should be embarrassed by your abysmal customer service and delivery. The guy who called me did GUARRANTE that the plumber would be here tomorrow (13th). How he can make that guarantee with a straight face and expect me to believe it is beyond me. Today - 13th January. I called in at 9,10am and they are still saying he's coming today, but they cant get hold of him to confirm. I'm promised a call back when they speak to him, needless to say they haven't called. In summary if you are looking for an organisation that fails 100% of the time to deliver and lies to its customers theses guys are perfect for you.

Poor experience on lots of levels

Extortionate pricing £480 for ultimately changing an inlet valve. Only knew this due to showing on credit card pending and contacted the company by email (called customer service 2 x 30 min calls and still couldn’t get through) Not a local company- misleading advertising Avoid negative trustpilot reviews by sending a direct link which are then never published- my initial review is not showing. I suspect there would be many more if openly linked directly to trust pilot. Had to specifically ask for a ref number - you can’t post a review via the link they send without it. I complained and am still awaiting contact from customer services. Poor doesn’t cover it.

Engineer came prompt but lied!

Engineer came prompt but lied from the start. When were charged almost the full amount for incorrect information. Following a complaint, they sent the engineer back out to get the details to order the part and it’s taken a week with still no quote. No heating now for 17 days since initial contact. Over £200 spent. Nothing to show for it, no prospect of any repair, calls now not being followed up and requests for a refund ignored. Trading standards have now been contacted. Do not touch with a barge pole!

Under no circumstances use this company… They exploited my elderly step mum living on her own. The toilet flush was constantly running. Concerned not knowing somebody she looked in the local free paper and found right on heating and plumbing thinking it was a local company. First hours charge was £150 plus VAT. The plumber came out said it was an only cistern, said he needed to travel to Derby for the parts (from Ripley) which was not required. He completely bodged it with the flat screw under the push button. Total charge just under £530!
These people exploit the
vulnerable. Date called 11th Dec, plumber came 12th December. How do you sleep at night Rightio???
