Jo-Ann Stores faces significant criticism from consumers, with a staggering 91% of reviews rating the company negatively. Many customers express frustration over order issues, particularly with online purchases that are frequently canceled or not fulfilled. Complaints about poor customer service are rampant, with reviewers noting rude staff and a lack of assistance in stores. Additionally, customers report feeling misled by pricing discrepancies and inadequate refund policies, leading to dissatisfaction with their shopping experiences. Despite these issues, some reviewers mention that the physical stores offer a good selection of products, and a few appreciate the variety available. However, the overwhelming sentiment reflects disappointment and frustration, indicating that Jo-Ann Stores struggles to meet customer expectations.

This store owes me $150 in credit, the lady in the Michigan store said it would be honored up until the day the store would close down and even use it to shopjoann.com . However I went there a week be... See more

I'm pretty sure that this store doesn't care now because it's closing but I'm really upset about a purchase I made on Mothers Day 2025, not a happy one. I spent over $100 on faulty solar lights. None... See more

Joanns is an absolute rip off. When you purchase an item that they put in a section of what you are looking for and it turns out to not be the item you are looking for they will not exchange it or ref... See more

Ordered fabric that was on sale - minimum order was 2 yards - we ordered about 20 different colors at 2 yds each ........... computer accepted the order just fine - then it started after 3 days - the "ooops...not in stock" emails started - now it looks like we are going to get a total of 7 different 2 yard shipments - and lo and behold - there is a minor shipping charge for each one. If you want to compete with the Amazons ans On-lIne Walmart ordering - ya' all better step up your game, As it stand now, you don't have a chance - we will NEVER do business with you again - either on line or in store - very disappointed to say the least.
I have done two different online order. The first one order wrong product. My fault. When I returned item at store not only did I loose $8 due to it being on sale in the last week but then I got the return on a gift card since it was an online order. Frustrating and waste of time. Then I did another three weeks ago. Charged twice once the day of then again when I picked up. Was told I had to email to get the first one refunded. Call was told 7 to 10 business days the return should be in my account. That was three weeks ago. Customer service has really gone down hill. Over the past 10 years. No compentaion offered for the troubles. Not even an apology. I am very upset at this entire situation. I will never shop Joann's online again. I have told all my neighbors and we are all shopping hobby lobby instead now. Congratulation Joann's you have lost lots of customers and more are leaving too.
BUYER BEWARE, Don't buy anything online from Jo-Ann, After repeated Emails from Joann's offering a 3D Printer on sale, I finally bought one and some printer filament for it. The filament was shipped in 2 days, but the Status on the order for the printer said in Process, a month later and several Emails to the support (support what a joke) email, they finally tell me that the Printer is Not in Stock. Why would they advertise and send me Emails to buy the thing, AND what a month to say is out of stock if they don't have it. To make it worse, it seems they are not going to sell this printer any more.
Do yourself a favor and just stay away from Joann’s online ordering for home shipping. COVID-19 is their current excuse for continued deplorable online ordering/shipping policies. They have always been bad. If you order something online to be shipped to home, it best be something you do not need within the next month because whatever it is will take FOREVER to get to you, minimum of 2-3 weeks if you’re lucky. I do enjoy going into Joanns brick and mortar for some things and can usually get in and out. Also, do not trust that they do not have in your local store what you want. The website is never up to date for inventory. More often than not, when the website says a product is not available in my store, I go in and find it there. And the JoAnn’s app? Horrible! The log in never works ... ever. Save yourself the frustration and do not use the app.
DON"T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY This company has the absolute worse customer service that I have ever had to deal with. First, I order a gift for my wife, then they sent me the wrong item. Then they will not send you the correct item instead you have to return the item and wait for a refund, but even worse is that you have to wait 2 to 3 days just to get a return shipping label. I called customer service and I was on the phone for 36 minutes, and they are incompetent as well. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM. it's an absolute waste of time, money , and energy. Shop Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Target... even the local trashcan is better than shopping this company. They ruined my wife's birthday gift. It's your money, so if you don't mind letting a company sit on your money while you have nothing to show for it then do it. If you work hard for your money don't ever ever give them yours. This is why big retail closes in America, because they have forgotten that customers should come first. I am so angry and frustrated that they have my money and ruined my wife's birthday, and all I have to show for it is a product I didn't order and a disappointed wife. Keep in mind, they don't sell anything that you can't buy somewhere else. I don't write reviews, but today this company pushed one consumer too far. I want my return shipping label, and my money back. THANK AGAIN FOR RUINING MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY!!!
Received wrong order in record time! I get that order pickers might put the wrong stuff in the wrong bag. But customer service? They are HORRENDOUS. two days to get back, and then it's clear they don't even read your email - they told me pkg. had been delivered, to look again. Hopeless. disputed charge and thanks for ribbon i didn't order.
During this stressful Covid-19 time ordering items via internet should be helpful. NOT! I placed an online fabric order because the previous online order was short 2 yards of the Solarium outdoor fabric. Within 14 hours of my order was cancelled by Jo-Ann's. I had to call around to find the fabric. I made and 80 minute round trip to go into a store. The store employee where I went could not have been nicer (Alhambra, CA). Thank you to them, wish my coupons could have been used in store but I used if for the order that had been cancelled. This was the second and last Jo-Ann.com order for me. Not worth the stress of not knowing if your order will be randomly cancelled.
I never used to be much of a Joann fabrics shopper, preferring wherever I could find my craft supplies cheapest, and not even realizing my supplies were cheapest at Joann's. My father in law is a major crafter and has always suggested Joann's for my crafting needs. So about 5 months ago, I went in because I ran out of yarn and the store I usually went to was out. Turned out Joann's was cheaper. This was before using the online coupons. Well, I've been working on a very large project for a wedding gift, and kept running out of yarn. I've been in 5 times to replace yarn for this project now, and the last 2 times I had the same girl help me. Her name is Natalie and she works at the one in McMinnville, Oregon. I hadn't been in for about a month, and not only did she remember me, alas they were out of my yarn! But she helped me find an exact yarn color, weight, and texture match from another brand that was on sale. She was also the one who saved me a lot of money last month between the sale and the on line additional 20% off. I can't thank her enough, not only is the customer service amazing there, they really go the extra mile for their regular customers. So thank you so very much, Natalie, you're my favorite, and Joann's has become my favorite store for my crafting needs.
Went there to pick up fabric and we all know that cute kid ones are scarce due to covid and back to school. A lot of times fabric is cut and left in the bins for awhile before they make it back on the shelf. There was a Caucasian customer that went back to where those bins were behind the employees and was looking through them. Employees never said a word to her. After she left I peeped in there. Didn’t go through just simply kept my distance and looked. I would’ve asked someone to get fabric for me if I saw one I liked. An employee comes over and scolds me for it. Even though someone just seconds before me was all the way back there and going through everything. She talked to me as though I didn’t understand English! Then when I was getting my fabric cut, she kept going back and forth and giving me a look. I completed a survey and they apologized but followed it with “you were browsing”. No I was not browsing!!! Browsing is what the lady before me was doing. I looked from a distance. I will not support a racist establishment like this ever again
I stopped at the Zeier Rd store in Madison, WI after work. I was looking for cross stitch supplies. After wandering around, I finally asked an employee working at the cutting counter. She was not helping a customer. Her answer was to wave her arms and say, "it's over there somewhere." Not only is their customer service atrocious, they had literally none of the supplies I was looking for.
Very poor service melbourn fl. I also will never order from them again I placed an order for fabric for curbside pickup Saturday morning and Sunday morning received an email saying oops sorry we don't have that fabric I paid through PayPal and today is Tuesday and I still haven't received my money back they say it'll be at least three to five business days I will never deal with these people again I have never had a problem when I paid through PayPal if being canceled an the money returned
I will never do business with them again. I ordered a cricket bundle June 28th. I expected things to be slower because of covid. End of week 2 I reach out to them and ask what my status is. 3 days later they say they need to look onto it and get back to me. I waited 5 more days still nothing so I reached out again. Exactly 1 month after my order I get an email saying its not in-stock (Which it is not true they just raised the price) and they would send me my money back. First of all you had over $250 dollars of a customer's money and you string them along for a month. Not one single person contacted me. Then once they do I need to wait LONGER TO GET MY MONEY BACK. Unacceptable. I will warm everyone I know not to shop online with them. Thats some seriously untrustworthy crap. Oh, and I wrote a review to them of course they refused to post it.
We've decided to do the upholstery on our boat and went in to purchase our items. The ladies cutting the fabric were very nice and helpful. Then the nightmare started. We went to check out and use our coupons. We had an in-store 50%off reg price item and a 20% off your total purchase. Anyone thats worked retail knows these are acceptable. The 2 ladies and my husband and I were trying to figure it out when an older lady joined and was instantly rude, degrading, and started yelling at us. None of us could understand why. Horrible customer service! People may not understand but they're not stupid.
I grew up with Joann’s fabrics, I have also done extensive shopping at Joann’s fabrics. I bought my Brother’s sewing Machine from Joann’s. I hoped to learn how to sew taking Joann’s classes.. I thought anyone that worked at Joann’s would know about sewing and certainly how to THREAD a sewing Machine.. uhhh even a manager.. I was told on the phone that I could be helped when I brought my sewing machine in that someone would help me thread the machine.. First time I went a rude adult women could not help, old enough & seemed to be the manager??? there was no one there to help etc... Told me to return. I returned and then was told Joann’s does not help with that service.. Are you kidding me? A simple assistance of threading my sewing machine? What? Mind blown? What kind of store are you Joann? (I previously googled YouTube, about threading,,Something is not right). This is Sooooo Disappointing, a sewing store that doesn’t employ people that have the knowledge of sewing or that have a desire to be of service to the public.
I placed an order for pickup, they (9 hours later, but the plague is on) cancelled all of my fabric so I cancelled the thread in the order and decided to place my order to ship and within 2 hours I have an email saying that my order is ready for pickup at a store 45 minutes away. Calling customer service resulted in being told I could wait for the order to cancel and try ordering again or go to pick up my items at the store they were at. If they don't want people to spend money, they should just close.
Every time I order online to pick up in store, items are cancelled. These items show that large quantities are available, but they aren’t. What’s so hard about inventory control in this day and age? Even after they cancel your order, the quantity still shows available at that location. Unreal.
I tried to order a sewing machine on line and have it shipped--the site said it was in stock. After 10 days still not shipped and listed as out of stock in the website. When I called the person was actually Worse than unhelpful...unable to say whether machine was in stock or not--said she would have to email manufacturer to see if it was available (!) and then have them email back. I have since gotten a machine elsewhere and cannot unorder the machine. Still have a hold for on my card for the amount of the machine. The website says--just return unwanted merchandise. I don't know whether this will be fulfilled or not and who knows when.
I went into the store too buy a sewing machine. I was told I could order one. I did. The sale person told me they had 5 of the machines in their wear house, and it would take two weeks. I was good with that. Two weeks went by. I called the store to ask about my order. She then told me it would be 4 weeks. I wasn’t nasty with her at all. My reply was. NO! That wasn’t what I was told. So the next day. I get a call from the salesperson. Saying that my order wasn’t on the truck, and I would come in and get a refund. I will never again order anything from JoAnn’s again. Don’t tell me you have 5 sewing machines in the warehouse, and I can’t get one. That I had already paid for. Nope I won’t be going back or ordering online, and I wouldn’t have giving them a 1 star rating l, but an 0 wasn’t an option.
BE AWARE: When you order online they will charge your card an “authorization” charge. Then when the order ships they will charge the full amount of your order a second time. The initial authorization charge will eventually be credited back to your card but it can take 7-10 days. My online order was $63, they have taken that amount twice and the authorization charge still hasn’t been credited back to my account and it’s been a week and I have already gotten my items delivered. Their customer service told me it may be a few more days until the authorization charge goes back to my account. They also told me they do this so they can ensure the funds are there, then they charge a second time when the items ship. The process is not explained well on their site, it does state there are two charges but doesn’t state it can take a week or more for the authorization charge to go back in the account. If I didn’t have enough funds I would have had an NSF.
