Absolutely loved the subscription

The boxes were absolutely adorable! The items were practical and cute and help with daily struggles like my tiny cinnamon trash can and my pen holder! I would definitely recommend! Staff is sweet and help keep customers up with deals and such!

Worth the wait

I have been ordering a box once in a while for a couple of years now. While this time the shipping was a bit delayed, the support team quickly responded to my questions and provided me with the necessary info. The boxes themselves are very nice and well worth the wait.

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs. I have no idea how are they legally allowed to operate like this, the whole service is a mess, they will lie to you, they will try to scam you at every moment possible, you will have to constantly fight to get anything for your money, and even if you do, it will arrive months later. The customer support is 1000% completely useless. If you think about giving them any money, PLEASE just DON'T.

I love the Inku crate

The Inku crate is the perfect box for stationary lovers!! I can finally get a ton of items that I simply cannot find in Europe. The crate did take some time to arrive, but I must admit that it was worth the wait.

I ordered a crate back in December

I ordered a crate back in December, when it didn't ship on time I got in contact and they said they'd get back to me when it does. Cut to about a month later and nothing so I email again, same thing. Finally I get in contact again to ask what happened and they tell me it's been too long for a refund and have the audacity to offer me a discount code if I want to buy another. 0/10 scam company

Terrible Customer Support

Ordered a crate on the 18th of December, enquired about the status of the order on the 30th of December, and was told it would be shipped within 2 weeks from that date in a copy-and-paste message. Asked again a month later, including a request for a refund, and I got exact same response. My account was deleted from the site and I was unable to even view my order. Would not recommend to anyone.

Worst Experience ever

Ordered a crate in April for it to come in May. Around the last week of April it was fulfilled (26th April). Then after no updates for 2 weeks I reached out and they said they havent dispatched it yet and will do in a couple of days. After another 5 days I contacted again and they updated me with a tracking number saying it has now been dispatched. After another 2 weeks of waiting for the tracking to update I contacted them again and the reply I got is that it still has not been dispatched. They happily took my money but refuse to sent over the product, I have wrote countless emails for some form of explenation but the customer service just ignores me or half heartadly replies saying its not even dispatched after over a month of waiting. I will never recommend them and never use them again. Courier shipping estimate = 7 days (Pitney Bowes Expedited Parcel Service) Below please find daily updated updates starting from the already month late "shipped date - 17th May": 19th May 2022: Tracking provided "Package Label Created" DAY 1: No tracking, No update. | 21/05/2022 DAY 2 : No tracking, No update. | 22/05/2022 DAY 3 : No tracking, No update. | 23/05/2022 DAY 4 : No tracking, No update. | 24/05/2022 DAY 5 : No tracking, No update. | 25/05/2022 DAY 6 : No tracking, No update. | 26/05/2022 DAY 7 : No tracking, No update. | 27/05/2022 DAY 8 : No tracking, No update. | 28/05/2022 DAY 9 : No tracking, No update. | 29/05/2022 DAY 10 : Tracking at USA Global shipping centre. | 30/05/2022 (Keep in mind, they ship from the USA, not Japan, my guess they just shipped it) DAY 11 : USA Customs Declaration. | 30/05/2022 DAY 12 : Shipped from global shipping centre to destination country. | 31/05/2022 DAY 13 : No update. | 01/06/2022 DAY 14: In transit with destination carrier | 02/06/2022 DAY 15: No update. | 03/06/2022 DAY 16: No update. | 04/06/2022 DAY 17: Cleared customs. | 05/06/2022 DAY 18: No update. | 06/06/2022 DAY 19: No update. | 07/06/2022 DAY 20: No update. | 08/06/2022 DAY 21: Delivered. | 09/06/2022

Mind boggling ineptitude

Ordered crates on the 1st of April and 1st of May. Neither has shipped, neither has been allocated a tracking ID despite the "shipped within a week" claims. Only response I got from CS was the generic "Item is preparing for shipping you'll get a tracking no. in a few days" which was nearly a month ago. Since then CS has failed to respond to follow up requests regarding the package status, it's truly shocking that they have so little regard for their customers that they hide behind scripted responses and stall tactics instead of actually addressing concerns. The companies quick enough to bombard you with emails about their latest crates and offers but apparently can't manage their core responsibilities.

Be Cautious

FINAL UPDATE: In the end, it was my credit card company that erred when issuing the rebill. However, had Japan Crate been more responsive at first, it never would have been an issue to begin with. That said, the customer service manager that I dealt with these past several weeks was apologetic, sincere, quick to acknowledge the error, and - most of all - helpful. He did the hard work to provide me with the information that allowed me to pursue the case with my cc company - who was not so helpful it turns out - and when we had that all sorted, he was quick to deal with the fact that I had only receive one crate. While I have been dealing with this for more than two months, his effort, help, and honesty is why I am changing my rating from 1 to 3 stars. --- UPDATE: This has been a huge mess, and it took more than a month, and posting this review, and filing a complaint with the FTC before I was connected to a customer service manager - but I must say that the customer service manager I am working with now has 1) owned up to the mistakes made, which is honorable and uncommon these days, and 2) has, I believe, been genuinely working hard to get it sorted out. At this stage, it seems like my bank is actually the bigger obstacle to getting this settled. I have retitled the review, but I still recommend caution as it took over a month to get real help, I still have not gotten a refund (though this may have something to do with my bank), and I still have only received 1 of the 3 crates my brother ordered for us.The real bottom line - if you ever have to open a dispute, DO NOT close it! --- My brother, who is stationed in Okinawa, gave me, my parents, and my siblings each a 3-month gift subscription for Christmas. We thought it was a great gift, but... I am not going to really address how we only received one box and the effort we had to go through to get that. Nor that my sister, and youngest brother never received any of their crates and my parents, too, have only received two. There are plenty of reviews about their shipping procedures. My issue is that I had a gift subscription. It was supposed to run it’s course and then be done. I read all the fine print. In late March, though I had not yet received a crate, I did receive a renewal notice. I reached out to customer service and said, I didn’t think my subscription was supposed to renew because it was a gift, and then said - just to be sure - please do not renew it. Well, they charged my credit card $143.85 on March 26, 2022. (I am still unsure of how they had it or how they ran the charges with the wrong expiration date.) I had to reach out to customer service two more times before they responded and by then I had filed a dispute with my credit card company. I am trying to keep this somewhat brief so I will just say that it took days of back and forth before they even checked to see if my subscription had been set up as a gift. When they finally did, they saw it WAS in fact a gift subscription and said they would refund me, but they could not because of the “chargeback” - the credit I had received because of the open dispute - and I would need to cancel that. I then made the biggest mistake ever, knowing they get charged for a dispute and wanting to be nice, I cancelled it so they could refund me. Dumb, dumb, dumb! For a time they said they still couldn’t do it, then said they had, and it would post in 5-7 business days. I waited until day 8 and then informed them I had not received a refund. DAYS and DAYS of back and forth and “you need to work this out with your bank, our system shows we refunded you.” They sent me screen shots that "showed" I had been refunded, but the images had no dates, reference ID numbers or transaction numbers. In other words, nothing that could be tracked or verified. I called my bank - NO record of any refund attempt. Then they changed their story back to, "we can’t refund you because we didn’t receive the charges." So, I called my bank and asked to reopen the dispute - something I had been told I could do when I cancelled it. Well, dispute resolution found that Japan Crate had accepted the charges on April 7, 2022 and I needed to appeal to them to provide a refund. Seems simple, right? I have a letter stating they accepted the charges. The only problem - JAPAN CRATE WILL NOT RESPOND TO MY EMAILS. They are completely ignoring me now. I have been trying to get a response for a week. They have $143.85 of my money that they have NO right to - they have admitted this was their mistake - and they will not return it or even give me the courtesy of a response. Needless to say, I have escalated this with my credit card company. I have reached out to the Office of the Attorney General in my home state to see if I have any options there. I have reached out to the Office of Consumer Affairs and filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

Awful experience, actually the worst experience!!

I ordered the March Crate and I didn't get a tracking number. A few weeks pass by, I asked them where the crate was. Waited nearly a week for them to answer. Got asked to confirm my adress. Waited nearly a week again for the next answer. The customer support was painfully slow, but kind (for that they deserve the star). They agreed to send a new one. Perfect, surely it would arrive this time. Right? A few weeks go by, I ask them for tracking number. This time I got one. This is where I discover that they scam people. They create a shipping label so that it seems that is has shipped. But they don't send it out. I've called DHL and they confirmed that there were no package up for collection. I sent all the details to my bank and requested a chargeback. I demand a full refund! It seems that they selectively send out some packages to seem reliable, but from what I've seen A LOT of people haven't seen traces of their packages. It's not worth the headaches, folks! Edit: They (customer service team) clearly stated that the parcel was shipped. So apparently they lie to customers since the issues are known beforehand. I have been waiting for nearly 3 months (25th February), and DHL still hasn't picked up the crates!? If you are going to lie, use a better one. I'll let my bank handle this since my trust for this company is as lost as the packages. Update: My bank refunded me, and two packages came a few weeks ago. Will I ever trust this company with my money again? Nope. Just wanted to be honest and said that I got all three packages, but unacceptabely late and the customer support (or lack of) is not something I even wish upon my worst enemy.

Yup, it's bad....and it continues

I echo everything that has been said here. A total rip off. I am going to ask for my money back as they have been dodging my request for an update with generic "we are working on it". Update: they keep screwing with me. They emailed me, word for word, exactly the same email response they sent over a month ago. They have been waiting for that courier pick up for a while. They dodge my questions or simply don't respond at all. Seriously, save yourself the headache, don't buy from this company. Update: 6 weeks and counting. $700 canadian down the drain. This is a total scam.

Don't, just don't.

Echoing what so, so many previous reviews have already brought up: I never received the crate I ordered, so that is a fair amount of money down the drain. I placed my order on Feb 21st, and ended up assuming pretty quick that I might not receive anything at all due to shipping issues between Japan and Germany, which would not be the company's fault, considering the current situation. ...Except then I received an email from customs/DHL, because my package had made it into the country against all odds by early April! Don't think this is a success story, though: customs was asking me for a proof of payment, which is where it all went south for me. As much as I could prove to them that I had paid some $45 for this, Japan Crate saw it fit to declare the value at $4.90. That's a bit of an awkward discrepancy (and I'm not even going into the part where the mail from customs didn't mention the lucky bag at all, I'd given up on that part of my order a long time ago by that point). Long story short, customs doesn't like to be scammed, I obviously did not end up receiving my package. I don't know if it was returned to sender, though I assume it was; what I know for sure is that I won't see my money again. Order #2395

DONT ORDER!

I ordered a box on March 4th and was finally notified that it was shipped at the end of March so I wait a week and when it has still yet to arrive I contacted them confused all they told me was that my box was "ready to be shipped just waiting for the courier to pick it up and theyll send tracking when it's picked up" so I wait for another couple of weeks and still there's nothing so I message them again as I'm starting to get really worried now but they reply with the exact same message of its waiting to be picked up. It is now the 26th of April they're almost about to 'send' the May boxes and I have STILL YET to receive my box! I have emailed them again expressing my displeasure and asking what the hell is going on but at this point I just want a refund for the box I PAYED for and HAVENT received and I definitely won't be ordering from them again!

Waste of time

Ordered on January 17. No updates for months and when I asked for a refund — they wouldnt give a refund. The box however arrived finally on April 4. BUT this box wasn’t even packaged nicely— they literally just threw all the snacks in a regular brown box— not like what they advertise at all. SO if you are planning on getting this: DONT!!!!! Unless you want to be disappointed and your time to be wasted because they would NOT give a refund at all. Nothing for wasting a customer’s time. Customer service is unhelpful and would not respond to emails until more than a week later. Scammy. Delivery time AND EVEN THE BOX PRESENTATION is not what like what they show in their website at all.

No crates received, no refund provided.

Ordered on the 5th of Feb 2022, it was 'lost'. No tracking so I suspect it was never sent. I asked for a refund which was refused, as they would try again. Customer service said they would send tracking details for the second replacement crate. Have now received notification of second shipment, without any tracking. When asked, they said, they wouldn't provide any. Suspect this company is operating fraudulently to keep hold of our money without providing any goods. The 'shipping notifications' are just an excuse to keep us quiet, nothing is actually sent out, hence the lack of tracking. Update: Received 'fake' shipping notifications via their Facebook team after I reported them to the FTC. It wasn't even for my crate; the Facebook & Japan Crate support teams are also contradicting each other in every reply. Best advice I can give to customers is (1) Don't subscribe (2) If you haven't received your items, and they ask you to wait.. it's not coming. Just process a refund via your bank & report them to the FTC. Update 27th of April - Japan Crate have replied below but there is no movement on the ‘tracker’. Nothing has been shipped, and there is not evidence that it is on its way. Many other customers are in the same position, a quick scan of social media is full of poor reviews.

Februari and March crate didn't arrive.

*UPDATE*: after they responded here they finally took a look at one of the emails I send. ANOTHER generic answer: your shipment "should" have arrived for both boxes. I literally tell them in the email I haven't gotten anything mind you. How do you even know yourselves if parcels arrive at the destination if you don't have a tracking code? For all we know it's stuck in costums and we wouldn't know about it. I'm kinda done dealing with these people. Response times are somethimes weeks and nothing comes out of it! Just refund my money and I'll take my business elsewhere! Ordered the februari crate in januari, also a March one in februari. We are now midway April and nothing arrived at all. They 'send a new one' after contacting them about the februari one last month, neither has arrived. It takes days if not weeks for them to respond to emails. It would be way better if we would get a track and trace number, but alas, all you get is an email saying it's shipped, after that it's fingers crossed whether or not you will get it... 2 and a half months if just to long, even if it comes from Japan...
