Really happy with this company. I made a claim for my ACL injury and it was authorised quickly for consultations and then surgery - I was updated throughout the process and it was hassle free.
My company have been with general & medical for eight years, I needed to make a claim this week for a serious condition. The lady that helped me couldn’t have been kinder. Every year my premium have been reasonable and affordable and the service has been well above standard, I would recommend this company for health insurance.
I have a health insurance policy with General and Medical Healthcare, and have been a satisfied customer, since. I had some health issues that were promptly dealt with. I have today dealt with Michael and Tom and have taken policies for my husband and my son. The process was straightforward and easy over the phone. I highly recommend the team, and the policies cover a range of illness.
I have just taken Medicare insurance with General & Medical Healthcare and couldn’t be more happier. Customer Service was excellent, they asked the right questions to establish the right plan for myself, they were happy to go through the plans in great detail and answer any questions I had and provide honest answers which was a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I find when I am enquiring about these kind of things companies just say things to get you to sign up, I did not find that with General & Medical Healthcare. There monthly charges I found were lower than others & I liked the fact that some of the plans cover pre existing conditions. The process was very straight forward and fast. Their website is user friendly and easy to navigate and very clear and precise on what plans they can offer. Good customer experience, I would recommend them to anyone
The General & Medical website was very useful for assessing the best comparative medical insurance benefits and costs. Having decided on the preferred level of cover a follow up telephone discussion with Tom was extremely helpful in clarifying any outstanding questions about the cover. Just got my renewal through, really happy the premium hasn’t changed much and I have used the policy recently to make a claim. Everything was straight forward and was talked through the whole process.
It is interesting seeing the amount of good reviews for General & Medical Healthcare, this could be due to their monthly charges being much lower than other such companies. However my recent experience with this company has not been good. On contacting General & Medical re a claim one is told that one will hear back from them within 48 hours. Should their underwriters not accept one's claim, from my experience General & Medical will refuse to reconsider not allowing further discussion while not accepting of any new facts re such a claim. They shut the door! Be warned....even when General & Medical have agreed to pay for a doctor's consultation...should that doctor send you to another doctor....General & Medical will want to see that referral and may or may not pay for that referral...Here's the kicker.....should that second doctor refer you back to the first doctor...General & Medical will want to see yet another written referral...it goes on and on.... As for the friendliness and putting one at ease...forget it....I have picked up a hard nose business practice in their manner, possibly with the exception of one person who seemed a little kinder...just one! The point is...you get what you pay for....as another General & Medical customers said to me..."You're not paying much and they will do everything to make it difficult for you to make a claim" Reading through these reviews one sees a pattern. The reviewers who criticize all seem to repeat the same criticisms...while General & Medical's innocuous, polite, political responses have not changed their behaviour to their customers...are they not listening or do they not care as there seems to be no change. I believe that their customer service and mode of operating is not good when it comes to people feeling sick, in pain and vulnerable.

I took out a policy in 2022 but decided to cancel it this year as I realised I didn't need it at all. I phoned General and Medical to cancel it a few weeks ago and spoke to someone who said he will action the cancellation. However, for some reason they have still decided to auto-renew my policy. This is an unacceptable and underhanded. Update: This review was made on the weekend of the 23rd of April but was published on the 25th of April. I phoned the company on 25 April and spoke to a young man who kindly explained that the renewals are autogenerated and that the renewal will not be processed. Maybe General and Medical in future could think about processing cancellation letters as confirmation to customers or maybe look at cancelling the autogenerated renewals for customers who have requested cancellation. General and Medical needs to remember that unexpected auto-renewal letters add anxiety to customers (for context, I woke up thinking worrying about email on sunday night and how I needed to find time to contact G&M before the actual renewal date). Such letters also add admin tasks for customers.
The telephone care from the Client Coordinator has always been polite and reassuring and I have never had any difficulty making a claim and receiving payment.
Took out Sports Insurance for my son, and unfortunately he suffered a knee injury that requires surgery. G&M were obstructive from the first contact and we have so far had to pay for all pre-op consultations and scans. The last contact refused to help with anything because the procedure code given to us by the consultant was not in the current alphanumeric format for the claims team. Possibly the worst customer experience I have ever come across. Avoid this company.
website leaves a lot to be desired but made up for by your team. Very helpful. I still find a lot confusion looking for clarification of some things. I will see if the policy is more informative and puts my mind at ease before continuing with yourselves. the 14 day cooling off will be crucial.

Excellent, fast service and your advisors are friendly, efficient and professional. After comparing other similar health policies, yours was the most comprehensive and really suits my requirements. The best thing about your plans is that they cover certain pre existing conditions and symptoms which is very reassuring for most people. Other policies either don't do this, or they charge a lot more for doing so. I found the monthly premium to be very affordable and cheaper than other less compressive policies and I will highly recommend General & Medical to others. Thank you.
My whole family have been with GM for 8 years on their highest 'Black tier' and have provided them with over £16,000 in payments. We have never claimed. In July 2022 we claimed for my daughter to have a lump removed from her abdomen. Approval took around 10 days. Fixed cost £1900. Our initial consultation was in August 2022. We paid £250 excess for a £200 consultation. The surgeon's only availability was 5th December 2022. Between our consultation and procedure our policy renewed with GM. When the bill from the hospital arrived to GM in December, they made us pay another £250 excess on the same procedure as the bill fell into the new policy year even though it was agreed 3 months before. This apparently is in the T&C's. Fine. Not a problem so far..... I appealed to our contact person whom we've always dealt with over the years to ask for discretion, else we'll take our business elsewhere next year. They refused 3 times. Yes, we gave it 3 attempts - assuming it was a no brainer in revenue retention. In effect GM gained an extra £250 from us but lost £2000 next year. Think that says it all about GM. If GM are thinking of replying to this review to ask us to "reach out" or "discuss" - don't bother.We tried 3 times with our 'client manager'. He didn't want to play ball. My advice? Pay a little more and go elsewhere.

I have had my policy for 6 years. Over this time I have only needed to claim twice but on both occasions I have been treated so kindly. My last claim was this month. I cannot commend the team more highly. The lady that helped me was very sensitive and authorised my claim so that I could have my treatment without any worries. Thank you very much for treating your customers so nicely.
