Concerning and dishonest customer service (updated)
I took out a policy in 2022 but decided to cancel it this year as I realised I didn't need it at all. I phoned General and Medical to cancel it a few weeks ago and spoke to someone who said he will action the cancellation. However, for some reason they have still decided to auto-renew my policy. This is an unacceptable and underhanded. Update: This review was made on the weekend of the 23rd of April but was published on the 25th of April. I phoned the company on 25 April and spoke to a young man who kindly explained that the renewals are autogenerated and that the renewal will not be processed. Maybe General and Medical in future could think about processing cancellation letters as confirmation to customers or maybe look at cancelling the autogenerated renewals for customers who have requested cancellation. General and Medical needs to remember that unexpected auto-renewal letters add anxiety to customers (for context, I woke up thinking worrying about email on sunday night and how I needed to find time to contact G&M before the actual renewal date). Such letters also add admin tasks for customers.
