Very rude operator who asked me to repeat what I was saying 5 times then she hung up on me

A very strange case

A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????

Closed down by Ofgem.

Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

Left them over a month ago and still waiting for final bills

Left them over a month ago and I have had to ask them three times for a final bill for gas and electricity. Meanwhile I get threatening letters (twice) from their credit department about sending in the bailiffs for a Β£5.38 bill which I'm not sure I actually owe them as I don't have a final bill!! A shambles - avoid!!! PS They obviously don't read these reviews either otherwise they would sort themselves out. Update Nov 5th. Had a reply from Jess which asked me to contact them by web chat. Have been in a queue for 10 mins on web chat and given up. Why won't they contact ME rather than me contact THEM. Poor customer service once again. Updated Nov 7th: Another threatening letter recd by email today. No action at all when you call. They are happy to hang on to my Β£100 credit on my account. When calling they claim there are no managers around to escalate the call. After pressing the operator I finally got someone to talk to.He was obviously lying to me - shameful practice! They once again said they would stop the threatening letters form their Collections department - but I don't believe them.

I have never written a bad review for…

I have never written a bad review for any company. However, Economy Energy are absolutely appalling in their customer service and payment department. In a nutshell I arranged to leave after having an extra Β£271 deducted in one month from our bank account, without notice. As soon as I received what I thought was a final bill for the electricity I rang to pay it. Was told it was too early and that I needed to wait 4 - 6 weeks for the final meter readings and that they would cancel that bill. So I waited. The next communication I received was from a Credit Company. SERIOUSLY???? The Credit company was simply wonderful and put my mind at ease and said that they would deal with Economy Energy in the future. However EE didn't provide them with final meter readings or a final gas bill. (Not sure how I was meant to pay that when I hadn't received it.) After receiving 5 more 'red' letters from EE I caved in and rang them. After wasting a total of more than 4 hours with various phone calls I was told that if I paid the bill my complaint would be escalated to management and I would hear from someone in the next 48 hours. I just wanted the whole debacle to go away so I paid it. Guess what? 5 days later and I am still waiting to hear from management. I know I won't hear back from them again. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Great company!!!

Great company! Low prices that will not be beaten. I haven’t been with and energy/gas provider and saved as much money as I am doing now with Economy Energy. Definitely worth the switchπŸ‘πŸ»

Shockingly bad company

I am still trying to get proper final bills, I moved in mid February when I gave them final readings. Eventually went to Ombudsman and despite their telling Economy Energy to provide final bills they still don't provide those showing they are final. I have absolutely no confidence in anything they say. My final meter readings given in February still do not appear on my dashboard despite my asking many times. Customer service do not do what they agree to do, then they send threatening letters for payment! I have never come across such an incompetent, inept and quite frankly disorganised company. They should be ashamed of themselves as they cause unnecessary distress and anxiety to customers who signed up in good faith. Avoid at all costs.

Shocking how bad they are

Looked for reviews of this company as I'm owed hundreds of pounds after leaving them 4 weeks ago. I've never had to wait more than a week or two for a final bill following a switch from any other energy provider so after 2 weeks I contacted them to ask where the final bill was - told it could take 6-8 weeks!! And just to' rub salt into the wound' - they've gone and taken another months payments by direct debit from my bank account despite being hundreds in credit & they no longer supply my gas & electric. So when I signed up they took 2 months payments and have since taken 4 further months payments - they've had half of an average annual charge from me....... for 3 months of summer usage!!! Having read these other reviews I am shocked that the regulator is not stepping in to insist that they start operating to acceptable standards. (and by the way, the reason for switching away from them after only 3 months - they notified me they were increasing my tariff by a staggering 25% for the Electricity and 68% increase for the Gas!) AVOID AVOID AVOID - you WILL regret it!!

Is Economy Energy in financial difficulty ? Still waiting 10 weeks for refund of my cash.

More excuses tonight to get a final bill so I can receive my refund. Are they going bust as they are holding on to ex customers money who are in credit. Now Economy energy please don't respond to tell me to webchat . Are you in trouble . Maybe the CEO might like to respond. Hopefully not kara who probably does not exsist.
