Very rude operator who asked me to repeat what I was saying 5 times then she hung up on me

A very strange case

A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????

Closed down by Ofgem.

Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

Poor service

Been with economy energy for 1 year now, trying to leave them as been on wrong tariff, now I owe them money! They took ages to take money when initially switched to then and then a delay in taking money when they said they were uping my direct debit. I've spoken to 4 different members of staff in 27 hours and each of them can not say the same thing! Their communication is 100% poor and no one seems to know what there doing/saying

I am writing to express my disgust at…

I am writing to express my disgust at this company. I have been trying unsuccessfully to close my account and gain a refund for over payments, I have phoned on numerous occasions and emailed-still nothing!!!. I have been, yes this is perhaps a strong word but BULLIED and HARASSED by texts to say I owe them money -really what school did they do to in the accounts department, as when you calculate my account deducting the duplicated invoice for the same month(another of their mistakes-which I was told they agreed with and would amend-really!!! )you owe me money..This is clearly a last resort and on looking at the comments I am clearly not alone on this. Can this be FINALLY dealt with closing my account and all monies due refunded. If no satisfactory resolve is reached I will be going directly to Trading Standards and Ombusman to resolve on my behalf. I cannot take another day of harassing text messages for your mistake, 2nd one today.2089159

Very poor customer relations

Update 02/01/19 Still not received my refund. It is 12 weeks since I switched, 9 weeks since my final bill, 7 weeks since I was told my refund would take up to 4 weeks which is now 3 weeks overdue. They are also not replying to my emails I sent to their complaints dept. I advise you to seriously think before using Economy Energy I didn't really have any problems when they were supplying my gas and electric apart from them not requesting a direct debit payments for my gas when I initially joined as a dual fuel supplier. I also bartered with them when they wanted to increase my monthly payments to a ridiculous amount. However when leaving them they don't seem to have systems in place where departments speak to each other. They continued to take direct debits 3 weeks after I left them and then asked why I had cancelled my direct debit. They didn't produce a final bill until I requested one and getting a refund takes up to 28 days after they finally notify their refund department which again I had to initiate. Quick to take your money but slow to give it back. Feel sorry for the poor Customer Service team who have to field angry customers.

Avoid

Having switched supplier when Economyenergy couldn't even come close to offering a competitive tariff, I am having great difficulty in getting a refund of Β£351-98 outstanding credit when my contract ended on 10/10/18. This includes a direct debit taken on 23/10/18, almost two weeks AFTER my contract ended, and even though my account was in credit. I was told by them that a refund would have to wait until my final bill was generated, which wouldn't be until 3rd December. This seems ludicrous as my last electricity statement was on 25/10/18, and there is no justifiable reason for it not to cover the end of my contract. It is just a crude excuse for Economyenergy to hang on to MY money for as long as it can. UPDATE. 15th December, still no refund UPDATE. 30th December, still no refund. Judging by the comments on here it looks like starting court proceedings is the best way to recover what I am owed. Regardless of what Economyenergy are claiming, they are going to go bust. No energy supplier is going to stay in business without attracting new customers, and who in their right mind would sign up to them now? They simply cannot be trusted. UPDATE. 4th January. Finally, Ofgem steps in and bans these weasels from accepting new customers. Now they can concentrate on refunds. Hard to believe they'll get any new custom after the 3 month ban ends.

Must be prosecuted and fined for dishonest practice that amounts to theft!

Disgusting company who seem to feel they are above the law with regards to returning monies owed to customers. Making complaint with ombudsman to try to retrieve money owed and also making complaint with local MP to see if they can be prosecuted and fined for what can only be described as a policy of keeping money that does not belong to them. In plain English this is called theft!

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

If I could share 0 stars, I would. Still waiting on my Β£800 refund since June! Hours of our lives wasted speaking to these thieves. Not a penny back. They don't care that they are ruining people's lives and leaving people struggling to make ends meet. I am at the end of my tether. The energy ombudsman has promised us compensation on top of what we are owed, it's just another waiting game. Pretty sure this is illegal.

How to deal with naughty people like EE - response to J Bowker and County Court action

I am a EE customer because I moved into a place where they were the current supplier. I have been trying to move to another supplier with great difficulty. (Reason:discrepancy in the address due to EE supplying wrong info to distribution network) I have asked the landlord to sort this it as shouldnt be a headache for the consumer. I read these reviews and their experience with EE concurs with mine. J Bowker wrote Can I take this company to a small claims court? as someone who has had 100% success with claims and counter-claims I would give a resounding Y E S ! First write to the other party (first class signed for) and notice them that your are taking them to Northampton Court (online claim) If the other party dont reply in 30 days then write again explaining their default and that you will be claiming costs for your time and expenses. Their reply must be in writing. Your correspondence with the other party are your 'court bundle' Exhibits A,B,C etc. Enter these into the 'court record'. The other party's lack of response places them in 'dishonour' and rubber stamps the judgement against them. The court will write to the other part outlining your claim and they will have to respond within 30 days. The only way they can win is if they have a valid counterclaim [their claim that you owe them] Learning the County Court Procedure is well recommended and much more satisfying then been given the run around by people who are trying to fob you off lame excuses and pie crust promises. REMEMBER these Law Maxims. "THOSE WHO DO NOT ASSERT THEIR RIGHTS HAVE NONE" and "THOSE WHO ARE CLAIMING ARE WINNING"

Poor poor poor!

Poor poor poor! Expensive, confusing online system and terrible customer service. Have now been waiting three months for a refund and they are 'unaware of a time frame' with regards to when I will receive this. Not sure how they can just keep my money indefinitely!
