A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????
Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

I left Economy Energy three months ago. My balance was £310.34 in credit. I chased them various time, they said it should be in my account in 28 days. After 28 days I called again, they said transfer to my new supplier hasn't been done so i need to wait. I called my new supplier to speed up the process, they said it is Economy Energy who needs to do the transaction. I called back, they said they will look into it and get back to me. After 2 weeks wait and 3 phone call they said my transfer is done and I will receive a final statement and my refund in 28 days (that's the 2nd 28 days wait) I received my statement in two weeks and as I stated above my account is £310.34 in credit. I called within 28 days, they said "there is a back log in their refund department and shouldn't except it before 12th November, if you don't receive it by than call back" Today 13th I contacted them again, the answer I get is "there is a back log with the refund department and they cannot give me a date or any phone number of refund department to contact" Simply I cannot get my money back and don't know whether they will ever pay me e and there is no one to contact! The amount of time I spent on the phone is over 3 hours for "the money they owe me!" When it comes to pay back, it is a closed door to your face! Please do stay away from them

Just to echo everyone else. Avoid this company. I am also locked in a four month battle to get my overpayments credited back to me. Constant lies and palm off’s from members of staff. I have been told 5 times my payments will be processed soon and apologies there is a “backlog of payments to work through” I made an official complaint nearly a month ago and still no response from them, I have rung to speak with a member of the complaints team only to be told you can’t be put through directly to them. They have to contact you. Surely it’s not a good sign when a company won’t allow you to speak to someone directly about your complaint. I have escalated my case and I hope this gets a resolution but after reading all these reviews I feel I will probably end up out of pocket.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!! THEY DID NOT EVEN BOTHER TO CONTACT ME WHEN MY YEARLY DEAL WAS OVER AND AUTOMATICALLY SET ME PLAN TO A STANDARD EXPENSIVE ONE. I HAVE MADE A COMPLAINT AND NEVER EVEN HEARD FROM THEM, GLAD TO LEAVE THIS RUBBISH COMPANY. THEY ARE FULL OF 1 STAR REVIEWS, SHOULD HAVE CHECKED BEFORE SIGNING UP WITH THEM. AVOID.

The worst energy company Ive ever dealt with. They set up a duplicate account for my correspondence address by accident, have estimated energy usage for it and are sending me emails, texts and calls everyday for a bill which isnt real despite me having called over 10 times and been promised the issue has been resolved. Staff are extremely rude and nobody replies to the complaints email address

Been waiting for 4 months on being refunded the credits on both my and my parents accounts. I’ve lost count of the emails and calls on the matter. Been told on no less than 5 occasions that payments were being processed and even had an email asking to confirm receipt of payments! This is a company that is obviously going bust and the Directors will be lining their pockets for as long as they can before it collapses and letting the public pick up the tab. This is fraudulent activity and Ofgem are doing nothing about it. Social media is full of examples on how this company is operating - time for action!

Incompetent, dishonest and with the worst customer service possible. I urge anybody reading this to avoid them for your own sake. You will otherwise endure countless fruitless attempts to communicate with this company with any issue you have, your meter readings will be ignored, you will be lied to and mislead time and again. The only time this company shows any sign of life is when it reckons you owe it something. Then you can expect constant emails and calls. My advice is to seek a reputable company with a larger profile that can be trusted to actually servd the customer. I recently changed supplier and it's night and day. Do not trust Economy Energy. You will regret it otherwise.

DO NOT USE AT ANY COST, we have been without Gas for 7 weeks now due to a faulty meter. This company will take no responsibility and get it fixed. We have been on the phone countless times for hours, we have been back and forward to the property countless times, been promised engineer visits which have failed to happen. When you call they will not even allow you to speak with a supervisor, we have raised complaints and been promised replied within 10 days, we still have had no reply. JOKE OF A COMPANY - 7 weeks with no gas.

Inherited this company with a flat purchase. Terrible customer service from day one. No welcome pack. No service details. Only harassment from the debt recovery team who cannot tell me what the supposed debt relates to. They just say I owe it. Bombarded with emails, text and calls. Don't underestimate the hastle I have experienced. Be warned. I am switching ASAP........ Their response was automated and they should call me to sort their issue out. They can call to harrass me but nothing still has been done to resolve their terrible service.

Left this company nearly a year ago, to get a email saying I owe money!! Bearing in mind it took me months to get monies that I was incredit on leaving,I have rang them, I am told it is wrong , how can this company keep customers? I’ve said this previously about this company AVOID!!
