Very rude operator who asked me to repeat what I was saying 5 times then she hung up on me
A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????
Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

THE WORST COMPANY GOING! If they was still in business i would NEVER go back to them because they are so expensive. Me & my mum was with them and we would have to top-up every week! We kept having to apply for loans, Then to find out that there is a standing charge so we know why the credit was not lasting long at all... Sorry for the negative reviews..

Incredibly poor. Eng never showed up turned out installation of smart meters had been cancelled as booked wrong by their team but nobody contacted me to inform me. When rearranged. It was rearranged another month later but smart meter was unable to connect to account and same with internet account resulting in running out of credit several times as i couldnt tell what my balance was plus not being able to top up on line when that happened. I have a chronic back condition and cannot always get out plus this was in mid winter

First they increased my direct debit for no good reason and took the new amount until I had over Β£200 in credit. Then they sent me an estimated bill for over Β£450 for 4200 kWh in 6 weeks! That more than wiped out my credit and payments so they increased my direct debit again and continued charging that, even after they had ceased trading. Over 3 months later and OVO refuse to sort out my billing as my meter today still reads thousands of kWh less than I've already paid for! Worst company I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. I can't say I'm glad they went bust as they stole well over Β£370 which I now stand no chance of seeing again. The government needs to put PROPER regulation and a COMPENSATION SCHEME in place immediately to stop rogues like these.

Not sure why the score for this company is 4.4 - it has not had good reviews for 6 months yet and has been 4.4 since January. Really shows how poor Trustpilot is when the positive reviews the company used paid for TP tools to ask for dominate the score - even 7 months after they stopped! The algorithm of the score clearly favours a company buying TP services. TP is proved worthless.

Left EE last August and was awaiting my credit refund of Β£451. Was going though the refund process before EE went under, with the company and the ombudsman. Since ovo have taken over the ombudsman said they donβt know how to deal with the case. I emailed ovo a few times and they adviced me to wait for another 6 weeks untill the old suppler has sent over the account details. Instead I called ovo and they were brilliant. I called a week ago and they told me the funds were there and waiting and would be with me in the next 14days. Today I finally received my refund!

If you are owed money by Economy Energy have faith and take heart in my experience. As soon as I heard OVO Energy had taken over I raised a complaint on-line about my outstanding balance of Β£100. No need to hang on the phone for hours. Within a few days I got the usual delay tactic e-mail from OVO, basically saying allow 5 to 6 weeks. 6 weeks passed and I e-mailed for an update. What a surprise, within 2 days they offered me Β£50, as advised by the Administrators of Economy Energy. I replied straight away with my closing statements and got the full amount owing inside a week. So, stick at it and be patient, OVO will eventually cough up the full amount owing. Lessons learned β¦β¦.. Stick with the smaller Mickey Mouse suppliers as the savings on the big suppliers are massive, hundreds of pounds a year. In future, just make sure I cancel the DD with my existing supplier sufficiently in advance of my fixed contract ending so that when it finishes I owe them.

We left Economy Energy last October. I won't bore you with the details of the dishonest and appalling way in which they treated us as customers, but I think it's fair to say that going out of business couldn't have happened to a more deserving company. We left being owed Β£403.30p. and, finally, following several phone calls to OVO Energy we received a refund in full this morning. (12th March). So, if you are owed money by Economy Energy I hope this will help allay your fears about being paid. Good job OVO Energy.

I left this Supplier in October 2018 since which time they have taken 3 further direct debits from my account amounting to over Β£360. I have written to them but have received no reply whatsoever. I cannot speak too badly of them.

Bad news! They wouldn't adjust our bills to reflect the accumulating credit we had with them. Then, at the end of the contract, they dragged their feet for ages over the final credit payment. And, they tried to stitch us up with the company we moved to by slapping a further 1000 units on our opening read! Just going through the process with them, the new company, and the ombudsman now. No scruples whatsoever these guys. Update: Yes, I can message you now on webchat if you think it will get the issue resolved. Webchat was a total waste of time (thanks) - They said that I need to raise the issue with the new supplier, which I already have done. I only found out about this buy chance because I contacted my new supplier due to an error on their website. If I had not, Economy Energy would have got away with this because I would not have found out about it until the readings had been finalised. It is not a professional company. Moreover, although it is obviously not a scam, it has all the hallmarks of the sort of operation that takes people's money and invests it in hope of return of profit. The longer they can keep the money, the more it can earn them. If their investments pay off then the money can be returned, if not - liquidation.

Glad this company has ceased trading. Spent over 3 months trying to sort out my problems with them to be switched to OVO energy. Lets see if they can sort out this mess left behind.
