Economy Energy has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about customer service and communication.

A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????
Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

Oct 25th 2018 bill I was in credit for gas and electric by £210 I paid by direct debit another £232 which totalled £442 the final bill in January came to £438 that means my bill for the last quarter of them going bust in January 2019 was £870.I live in an average semi with my wife they have massively overcharged me and it seams we can’t do anything about it.Ofcom or whoever need to get a grip it is disgusting the way they are allowed to treat people.

Since the 'switch' my bill is £300+ in just two months... My monthly spend is less than £60. Now I have been threatened with debt collectors by Ovo energy, I paid my direct debit and never ever missed a patment. This is so stressfull. I have a disabled adult and child living in my house

I’ve been charged £666 only for gas that i dont even use that much !! I have called them numerous times since March and they told me they will change it because the spokepersons also think that it is ridiculous, but until now (July) nothing changes. My neighbours also had been overcharged by them. And it is too bad i cannot do anything to make a report on them. Now they emailed me that they will pass me to a debt collector agent which initially it is not even my fault. It has affected my opening meter readings with my new suppliers too ! 🤬😡😡😡😡😡😡

Can't even begin to say how bad Economy Energy are, and now their Administration Company are just as useless. Been sent a final bill. They reckon I owe them over £900. You have got to be kidding me. I know I do not owe this money so will be contacting the Administration company by email given to by Ombudsman sending all photographic evidence that proves they are mistaken. Will gladly let this go to court because I am not paying a penny of this bill.

Just received my final bill from the administrators, Grant Thornton. Despite the 6-month delay being ostensibly due to them having to go through every account with a fine tooth-comb (because EE were such dishonest liars), they have generated this invoice (for over £1800 if you please) on the basis of a fraudulent meter reading that EE entered back in December (the concocted reading was over 16,000 units, whereas the actual figure was under 5,000 - so I think I might hold the record here). Will this nightmare never end? And just how incompetent are Grant Thornton?
