Absolutely worst company to rent from

Absolutely worst company to rent from! We have been left with a note on our door two months in a row now, saying that Darwin has not paid them so our water will be turned off in 3 days. I have emailed residents, compliance, support, and our property manager. With no response in 2 months. I have called daily (2 months) and gotten the same thing over and over again (we will push your ticket to urgent and they will be in touch with you asap)…… again never ending with a call back. This is absolutely ridiculous. We have MANY unknown charges on our account through Darwin and now Nutiliti. Absolutely do NOT recommend EVER renting from Darwin.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Darwin Homes Customer Representatives have proven not to be efficient in their abilities to assist callers. I have contacted the company several times and still no resolution. If you do not care about your property be sure to rent to or from Darwin because it is CLEAR they do not care.

Second online complaint for the same issue

This is the second time I’ve posted a complaint about Darwin Homes and they couldn’t care less. We submitted a ticket on 8/23/23 to repair the AC and a water leak and it’s 09/19/23 as I write this. Once we started looking we realized there was also mold in the house. Tickets have been submitted and as others have noted there is nothing but a loop in their phone system to a call center in the Philippines. I’ve tried to reach them almost daily for the last 3 weeks with no response. I even tried to contact our property manager through LinkedIn and she and others blocked me. I’m just trying to get some relief and can’t get anyone from Darwin Homes to respond. We only have two months left on the agreement and are not renewing, maybe that's why they won’t contact me… I don’t know, but the home is uninhabitable with no AC on the 1st and 2nd level in the South, in the summer. Plus the mold in the house that we can’t get remediated because the root cause has to be fixed and, as noted, it has not. As a property management firm they are screwing over the owner and the tenant. My only consolation is that we only have 2 more months as a tenant, but it stings to write the checks for rent on a property that is uninhabitable (no AC, water leak and mold). Horrible, horrible company. 09/20/23 Update - the reply from Darwin is standard I’ve left messages daily with the call center and no call back and yet they ask me in the online reply to contact them. I have tried and Darwin will not reciprocate.

Their customer service is horrible

Their customer service is horrible. I moverld out in early August 2023. 30 plus days later I contacted them to find out about the return of my deposit. They are basically ghosting me. Beware if you decide to rent from these people. Update: yesterday I got an email response.they said they would get me an update by the end of the day. Maybe time runs differently in Texas than Ohio because here I am a day later and still no update.

I’m tired of being scammed for money…

I’m tired of being scammed for money and no one ever calls you back to explain. I paid every dime of what was on my account plus extra that wasn’t explained or itemized on the 29th of august so that on the first of August, I wouldn’t have to deal with Darwin. The rent is prepaid. When I paid on the 29th of august, my account said I had a credit for the full amount of next months rent on the first. I go in to prepay October and it says I have a $14 balance, but it gets better, they have charged me $10 a day for everyday the $14 that I didn’t owe was t paid so now it’s well over $100 and they still haven’t called me back. I mentioned it to the corporate attorney at my new company when signing my contract and he said “No reputable company would do the things Darwin is doing and I probably am overreacting”. So when I paid last month, it wasn’t with my standard payment method. I paid our corporate attorney and his assistant James made my payment on the 29th on his personal card so that they could see the zero balance that I saw. Now they see what happens to me every month. Leave comment here if this happens to you, my companies attorney said that if you are having a similar “financial” issue, specifically un-explained fees and a total lack of communication detail the nature of the issue to here. If enough of us are having the same issue, the attorney will give us options for class action, discrimination and predatory practices. This will cost you nothing, I am paying for it. If there are enough people with the same issue, the attorney will give us options to get things resolved If you are not sure about your issue, detail it here anyway. Let’s get the Darwin thing dealt with.

Vacant Rental property has been broken…

Vacant Rental property has been broken into & being used by teenagers. Have contacted Darwin multiple times about the issue for a month and absolutely no efforts to fix broken windows and fence. Investors Beware!!

Where do I start

Where do I start. We were moved over from a different property management company with our rental. I started emailing/calling and putting in a maintenance request with Darwin 8-26 asking for help with our pool. It had not been cleaned for 3 to 4 weeks. After about 15 emailed 3 phone calls and 2 maintenance requests and 2 weeks later we finally were able to get our pool cleaned. It ended up being 6 weeks before our pool was cleaned. We also pay for this cleaning service through our rent. I have asked for a credit to this about 3 times now with no response or resolve. That is issue 1. Issue 2: We are never late on our rent. I went into the online portal on 8.29 and paid our rent as was stated in our portal. It cleared out of my checking account on 8.30. On 9-5 I received an email saying that we were late on our rent, I went and checked the portal and there was a random $500 due sitting there with late fees. I called into the emergency call line because that is the only way you can actually speak to someone and I was told it was a system error and in 24-48 hours it would be taken care of. we are 7 days in late fees with a total of $120.00. I have called, emailed and cant get anyone to call me back or fix the issue. At this point I am waiting to be taken to eviction court so I can print out every email, every phone record and my bank statements to show this company is absurd. Lastly, the owners of the home planted these hideous flower bushes. They do not do well in the heat and look dead and like weeds. We received an email from the company saying the City of Tempe needed us to cut our weeds down. I replied saying that these were bushes the home owner planted and someone needs to get that cleared up with this state so we don't get a fine. The response I got was.. well if it isn't a weed just ignore it. I'm sure this isn't that last I will hear from the city on this and when its not Darwin can pay that fee because I'm not. The customer service is awful. The communication is even worse. If you are thinking about renting through this company don't. I wish I could talk to the owners myself to let them know what a waste of their money this company is.

Increase rent and billing issues

We came over to Darwin through another mgmt firm. The previous company we had zero issues with. As soon as Darwin took over it’s another story. They increased rent with absolutely no notice. Multiple request to fix the issue and no resolution. We paid the increase so there wouldn’t be anymore penalties along with the other processing fees that are completely shady when trying to pay via ACH. There is no way to reach anyone. Their phone system goes in a loop. Not sure how they have so many issues and can still get away with this leave of service.

Billing issue. no one ever calls back

Darwin home took over for my old leasing company. i received a power bill of $800 which doesn't make sense as the power bill (6/12-7/12) was only $274 the month before. there's no way in hell that the power bill from (7/13-8/13) is 820. I have tried to call them and speak to property management 3 times and no one calls me back. This is absolutely insane and its crazy its this hard to speak to someone that can actually help me

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. Went to a location which was not the rental I applied for. However got there wanted my ID uploaded, facial recognition and the like. Never was able to see the property. Do not waste your time. Glad I gave no money. Thank you Jesus!

Deposit charges outrageous

I paid 1950 deposit and signed a lease with another company and the owner transferred to Darwin Homes A few months before my lease ended. Gave 60 day notice and tried to schedule a move out inspection but Darwin did not do an in person move out walk through and told me to do a self inspection and take pics of keys and garbage door openers when I left, which was odd. Mother in town spent a week there helping me move and clean, then I emailed DH many times until the 30th and at the last minute they sent a deposit to my bank with no description of charges. A day later I got an EMAIL they took my 1950 and left me with less then 500, Things like lockbox with RENTLY sync up and extra deadbolt. Which they admit was not correct and refunded 550.(The home never had rently or a lockbox) 630.00 for carpet cleaning! and 350 for general cleaning?! Got an automated reply? Same message.

Horrible

I just moved in to my new home last Saturday and it has already been a horrible experience. They never went in the house to make sure it’s ok to move in- we arrived Saturday and it was the filthiest house ever! Dead bugs everywhere, broken kitchen island, filthy kitchen cabinets. Extremely disappointed and upset. We had called multiple times and they don’t care. I definitely think we made a mistake going with Darwin homes.

Dont rent a home from Darwin homes. They have left my family without air conditioning since the 16th , send a incompetent ac company for attempted repairs , still no ac, all you get is that they are waiting on approval and sorry.

I truly believe Darwin homes is a scam

I truly believe Darwin homes is a scam. I put in my application and got approved for a home but then had to move my application to another home which also got taken away. This went on for months before I got my application moved to about 3 more homes but they all mysteriously got taken by other applicants. Lizette Gomez (leasing manager) moved my application around for months just to not lease a home to me. After accepting my paper work on multiple occasions, claiming to approve me and place me in a home, only to say the property was not available and another applicant got the home. They were of no help or assistance in any way and notified me of sudden changes last minute. With lack of professionalism this caused set backs and instability for consumers of this company. I believe I was discriminated against and I would encourage anyone to find a reputable company that moves forward with integrity and not full of lies and deceit.

I’ve called multiple times to try and talk to an account manager each time they say they’ll be getting back to me. I called at 9 AM when they first open and still haven’t heard anything back for days now please have someone contact me.

I’ve had nothing but a poor experience…

I’ve had nothing but a poor experience with leasing a home with Darwin homes. I can never get into contact with my property manager Ashley. when I started renting my home they didn’t turn my Gas on (hot water and stove) on for 2 + weeks, they left me without a working AC for over 24 hours, my patio floods and they haven’t sent anyone to fix it in 2+ weeks and I live in FL during hurricane season, they charged me for air filters I didn’t receive and now I have been double charged for my May Water bill and can’t get into contact with anyone that will refund the double charge. I will never lease using Darwin again nor recommend them to anyone.

2 months in and worst experience ever!

We are on month 2 of living in this very expensive home, which is literally falling apart, and, the 100+ft tree next to the home, that has been deemed dangerous, and have been asking to have it taken down for weeks, and nothing. Last night bad storms came through and part of the tree fell on the house. I have called and emailed and called...nothing. Our shower in the master bath is falling apart. Have to turn the water on w pliers. So much more stuff going wrong here and nothing being done. Worst experience, ever. If we dont hear from someone by tomorrow, seeking legal help. $2600 a month for a house that is falling apart and in current danger of being harmed by this tree.

Three weeks.....three weeks without a…

Three weeks.....three weeks without a refrigerator that I was told would get taken care of last week......three weeks with three small children living in the home with no refrigerator. But when the time came to pay rent it was taken out of my account!!!! Yet no one and I mean no one has reached out to me and can tell me anything!!! What are we doing here? I'm ready to take legal action at this point

Their portal is NOT working so I can pay my rent,...causing me a $50.00 late ree plus $10.00 a day after. I have been trying to pay my rent for the last 3 days with NO assistance!!!!!!!!!FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

My husband and I make over 100000 a year and our credit wasn't even pulled even thought we both have a 740 credit score.. wow.. don't understand how we r denied from even looking at the.proprty
