Coastal Moving Services' movers were…

Coastal Moving Services' movers were excellent; they were polite, on time, and really productive. They wrapped and moved our items with extreme care. Their openness and honesty—no hidden costs, just excellent service—particularly struck me. Everything arrived unharmed and ahead of schedule. This business is quite proud of what it does. Five stars for sure!

For my long-distance move, hiring Coastal Moving Services was the finest choice I could have made. From the beginning to the end, the crew worked with great professionalism and efficiency. Because of Coastal Moving Services, our move from New Jersey to North Carolina went smoothly. The crew was amiable, productive, and kept us updated at every stage. If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars, I would. Coastal Moving has been one of the worst customer service and moving experiences I’ve ever had. Let me break down how this company mishandled nearly every part of my cross-state move to Texas: Let’s start with the bait-and-switch pricing. On my initial call, I clearly told them I was moving a bed. On the follow-up call, suddenly I’m told that the price quoted didn’t include the headboard or footboard—and the cost jumped. I also asked to add a washer and dryer, and that alone raised the quote by $700. I told the man on the phone to remove it—I could buy a whole new set for less than that. His response? “Where?” The tone was dismissive and frankly, rude. That was my first red flag—but unfortunately, it got worse. They refused to honor a $500-off promotion they were actively advertising at the time I booked. When I called to confirm that I qualified, the woman casually told me it was probably a Memorial Day deal. Mind you, I booked during Memorial Day weekend. When I reminded her of that, she said she’d call me back. She never did. Classic runaround. The actual move was a disaster. My 65-inch flat screen TV arrived broken. Multiple wine glasses and decorative pottery pieces I’ve had for years? Shattered. They lost key parts to an outdoor swing, which now can’t even be assembled. Two living room lamps were broken, and they put an actual hole in my bedside table. Several boxes arrived wide open, despite the fact that they were taped shut when packed. This wasn’t just careless—it was completely disrespectful. I trusted this company with my belongings, and they handled them like trash. I’ve moved before. I understand that accidents happen. But this was beyond accidents—it was a pattern of negligence, poor communication, and zero accountability. If Coastal Moving sees this: Don’t bother replying with a generic apology. Do the right thing and fix it. And not with that shameful 60 cent per pound garbage that will never be enough to replace what you’ve broken. You know how to reach me. For anyone considering using them—run in the opposite direction. There are too many honest, professional moving companies out there. This is not one of them.

This is the most dishonest company I've…

This is the most dishonest company I've ever worked within my life. It's a classic bait and switch. They give you a starting price, and then at the end, it's double, I was completely honest with them, and I told them how much stuff I had, and it didn't matter. Spoke with victor marinelli, and he quoted me $2195 locked in pricing. And at the end of the day, it turned out to be over $4700. This company is a complete joke and I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.

Avoid Coastal Moving Services – Not Worth the Risk I wish I had found this thread earlier, because every 1-star review you read is accurate. Initially, the estimator gave a seemingly realistic quote and made confident promises to "lock in" the deal. But just 3 days before my move, I got a call doubling the price and on the actual moving day, a $3,500 quote became an $11,000 charge. When I called to complain, the company blamed me for “missing boxes” on the inventory despite the fact that I’m not the professional mover here. That’s supposed to be their job. It turns out Coastal is not even a moving company they’re just brokers. Their team doesn’t know actual logistics; they just give lowball estimates, take your deposit, and leave you with no choice but to go along when the real price hits. This process felt like a bait-and-switch scheme. I’m still unclear what service Coastal actually provided, if any. Do yourself a favor: avoid Coastal at all costs. Skip the middleman and hire a reputable moving company directly.

SCAMMERS! STAY AWAY

SCAM! Do not hire these movers. Alisha, the saleswoman underquoted at $5k for a long distance move, to get my business. I was quoted $10k by another company. I asked her why the discrepancy in price. She LIED and said the other company did not specialize in long distance moves so they charge double. We went over inventory in detail. Then get a call from Jacob, who I go over the inventory again with. He tacks on another $2k, says there were items missed from the first quote. I argue there weren't. He assured me that if the truck is not full, we won't pay the extra $2k. Movers get there (a different company) they're halfway through packing, call us to come home to tell us that the total is actually going to be $12k! Items were missing from inventory list that they showed us, which they were. Jacob did not include everything I had told him over the phone and he ordered 40 medium boxes. We needed double that apparently. I'm not the expert, how am I supposed to know how many boxes are needed! They have half of our things on the truck already, we're stuck and they know it so we had to sign off on the new price in order for them to finish. We called Coastal Moving the next day and explained the situation, that this is unacceptable. How do you go from a $5k estimate to $12k?! Mind you, we lived in a 2/2 1100 Sq ft house, with barely anything. I am still waiting for a call back, 4 weeks later, after calling three times. I am reporting them to the BBB and leaving this review on every website imaginable. Save yourself, time, money, and aggravation. This company preys on people. They should all be ashamed.

I have nothing but praise for Coastal…

I have nothing but praise for Coastal Moving Services. Our move to Florida was a breeze thanks to them! The crew arrived on schedule, worked efficiently, and took great care to save all of our belongings. I particularly valued their responsiveness during the entire process. There were no unexpected costs, and everything arrived securely. Well worth the money.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I wish I had listened to all the negative reviews. I was really excited after my first estimate with Steven. He came off super friendly—saying things like “I got you, girl” and acting like he was giving me deals or waiving charges. But it was all fake. Everything changed after the second estimate call. The original quote was low, and I was thrilled. I asked if I could call my partner to confirm, but Steven rushed me, saying my move was last minute. I ended up signing the contract under pressure. Three days before pickup, I got the final call—and they had added $2,000 to the price! Why? Because Steven supposedly didn’t include my queen bed or my futon frame—even though I clearly said I had both during the original estimate. When I tried to cancel and get a refund, they told me the 72-hour cancellation window only applied to the first estimate, and that a driver had already been scheduled so it was too late. When my stuff was picked up, the actual company doing the move turned out to be Loadrans LLC, not Coastal Moving. The driver also made it sound like I’d get my delivery by June 1st. So my partner and stepson waited at the house—but nothing showed up. I called Loadrans LLC—no answer. I called Coastal Moving, and they told me June 1st was just a “suggested” delivery date, and legally they had up to 30 days to deliver. They also told me no driver had even been scheduled yet. During both estimate calls, I asked to send pictures of all my items to get an accurate quote—they refused. After pickup, I ended up paying another $3,000. They claimed they’d give me 24–72 hours’ notice before delivery. Instead, they called 20 days later and gave me only six hours’ notice. My partner had to leave work to meet them. I haven’t unpacked everything yet, but I already saw that they stacked fragile boxes on the bottom with three heavy boxes on top. I’m terrified of what I’ll find once I open everything. If you decide to use this company: READ the contract carefully Put an AirTag in one of your boxes—because I had no idea where my stuff was for 20 days This was one of the most stressful and expensive experiences I’ve ever had. Please learn from my mistake.

Coastal Moving Services provided an amazing moving experience! The movers packed everything well, were amiable, and worked quickly. They were careful moving all of my furnishings and breakables. The delivery was prompt and efficient. Excellent service with no unexpected costs. They truly helped to make what would have been a difficult relocation seem easy and well-planned. I'm rather impressed.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Do not trust Steven Sanchez. I booked services on April 18th for $2,917.05 for a move on May 26th with Steven Sanchez. I asked Steven if I would be charged more later on or when movers arrived and he guaranteed me that would not happen. On May 22nd, I was told I now needed to pay $4,563.56. They said the new amount was due to my inventory changing. When I discussed inventory with Steven, I told him I had a full couch, small, 6 drawer dresser, and estimated 30 boxes, including 3 plastic bins. He incorrectly wrote that I had a one person couch, a dresser with 3 drawers, and 25 small boxes and no plastic bins. When movers arrived on May 26th, I was told I needed to pay an additional $600 due to not enough square footage being booked. I was at this point, I had to dispose of furniture I told Coastal Moving about and was under the 25 estimated boxes, which was less than my original 30. I was told explicitly I only had to pay $2,917.05. I've also been informed upon delivery, they may change me even more for a truck transfer. I've requested a copy of my original signed contract and the company claims they have no record of that original agreement, even though I was required to sign it in order to book. They only sent me a version that has my initials and Steven’s signature. I've asked for call recordings to be sent where Steven guaranteed me I would not be charged more and where I originally discussed my inventory because I know it was a very detailed conversation. Coastal Moving said I have to contact an attorney to subpoena them. I've called Steven Sanchez to try and find a resolution 15 times as of May 27th and left messages and he has not returned any calls. I would assume his guarantee of the binding estimate of $2,917.05 should be a binding agreement.

I recently moved from New York to Florida using Coastal Moving Services, and I'm really happy with the experience. Their staff was polite, effective, and obviously knowledgeable. They were incredibly careful with my possessions, and they delivered them on time. No missing or damaged items. From price to delivery of the completed box, the procedure was remarkably seamless. Excellent service!

RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

We hired Coastal Moving for a cross-country relocation with a clear agreement that our belongings would be picked up on April 11th and delivered within 15 days. This promise was made to us directly by their representative, Andrew Lombardi, and was a major reason we chose this company. Unfortunately, our experience turned into a nightmare due to serious negligence, misleading information, and complete disregard for our rights as customers. To our shock, the movers showed up a full day early on April 10th, without any prior notice or approval. We were unprepared and still in the process of packing, as everything had been planned around the agreed-upon date. We had to scramble last-minute, rush the loading, and ultimately sleep on the floor that night with no furniture or bedding. When we called to ask why they arrived early, Mr. Lombardi simply said, “I can’t do anything, the other clients need us the 11th,” making it clear they were prioritizing others over the commitment made to us. That was just the beginning. We were told delivery would take no more than 15 days, and planned our move accordingly. But when the 15-day period passed and we hadn’t received our items, we contacted Coastal again. Only then were we told that delivery could take up to 30 business days—a timeline never communicated during the booking process. Worse, we found out that our belongings were still in New Jersey, nowhere near being delivered. When we pressed the issue, they admitted that the representative had provided incorrect information, but claimed that the 30-business-day window was technically listed at the bottom of the contract in fine print. This was an obvious case of misrepresentation and bait-and-switch tactics—verbally promising one thing, only to rely on hidden terms to justify a completely different timeline once the deal was closed. Because of this, we were left without all of our essentials for nearly 3 weeks. We had to sleep on the floor the entire time. We spent money we didn’t have buying basic items just to function. I sustained a back injury from sleeping on hard surfaces and needed medical treatment. My wife experienced severe stress and anxiety from the situation and had to undergo intensive therapy. We are a military family, and this move was already emotionally taxing—Coastal Moving made it exponentially worse. This company was unprofessional, misleading, and showed a complete lack of accountability. They treated us like an inconvenience after taking our money and did nothing to remedy the harm they caused. We strongly advise anyone—especially military families—to avoid Coastal Moving at all costs.

Coastal Moving Services is a scam…

Coastal Moving Services is a scam posing as a moving company. They are just brokers, and once you sign, they hand your job off to a subcontractor — in my case, Long Distance Cross Country Movers, who damaged my items, delayed delivery, and lost a box. Their rep R*** was rude, unhelpful, and completely dismissive when I called to report issues. When their subcontractor left a TV in my building lobby, he actually told me I should arrange delivery myself — and they’d maybe reimburse some of it. He even tried to blame me for not supervising them closely enough. They promised delivery on a specific date three times — in writing and over the phone — then hid behind a “12 business day” clause in the fine print when they failed to deliver. Their “resolution”? They direct you to MovingClaims.net, a sham company that offers $0.60 per pound for damages — a total insult. Coastal claims they offered me $1000 on BBB — but they never contacted me, I found that out by checking reviews. Luckily, I paid Coastal by credit card and won a dispute through my bank. But I lost the money I paid the movers by cheque. If you’re stuck dealing with them: never pay without a credit card. Their 4.9-star Google rating is fake. Look at BBB or Trustpilot — that’s the real story. This company lies, passes blame, and treats customers with total disrespect. Avoid them at all costs.
