Useless customer service
This company is disgusting when it comes to customer service, I've been trying to get copy of old bills 5 weeks now. So sick of it, that I am cancelling my contract with them, with immediate effect.

This company is disgusting when it comes to customer service, I've been trying to get copy of old bills 5 weeks now. So sick of it, that I am cancelling my contract with them, with immediate effect.
My grandmother, 84, has been a loyal customer for many years. Recently, an agent knocked on the door to explain she deserves the 25% discount. My grandmother pays her bills via the Post Office. When we called to discuss the discount, she was told that she had to go paperless. That's fine, we can set up a direct debit but she requested to find out how to see her bills. They replied "email" it's the only way. Have Bord Fais completely forgotten about the older generation? Going cashless is terrifying for them but to never see a bill or payment confirmation? That's unheard of for the elderly and to expect them to just get used to this is crazy. She's a pensioner, her bills are through the roof as is. She's looking to save a few pennies and has to give up so much to do so. Bord Fais, paperless is fantastic, for the environment alone, but you have to meet the elderly in the middle. We asked if she could receive a text and no, email only. Emails at 84 is like learning a new language. Insane service. Delighted she has decided to leave.
I would give minus rating, for their customer service. Different people say different things, its no point they record the calls, if you ask them to what was agreed before, plainly deny and say they cant access the calls. On moving from rental property, i was short of 2 months to complete 1 year, and they deduct 100 euro from gas and electricity account. I was adviced on initial contract that because it is a rental property, i would not be charged, if i left the property. (i would be charged only if i switched to different supplier within the property). Do not trust their services. I had rang 10 days ahead to ask what the procedure to end contract, and was told nothing to do. After ending the contract, they said your final bill will be sent to the previous address because you didnt call with the meter reading. When i offered to give my address, he says you have to call back in couple of days when the bill is geneated, to be dispatched. Disgusting nonsense system of a process! The world is so much ahead of this slothful process!
They gave a competitive rate. However customer service is poor. Unable to submit a meter reading online. Customer service agent unable to do the same as 'system was quite slow' 'couldn't see where to input reading. ' A 30 minute call to input a meter reading which wasn't even input is poor service.
Terrible Door to Door Sales Experience I'm waiting for the contract to end next month, then I'll finally be free! Prior to the rates on Electricity & Gas going up the prices were ok. But their support team is useless - toke three calls to get my billing details setup correctly
They double charged me and took money from my account leaving me penniless. Spent hours on phone to be met with inhumane treatment, stonewalling, gaslighting and given the runaround. Worst company to deal with. AVOID!!!!!!!
I had my smart meter installed recently and wanted to switch to one of the smart plans. I am their customer for last 9 years. Logged in online, chose the plan I wanted and waited, and waited, and waited some more. Nothing happened, still on the old plan. No reply to emails, waiting on the phone for 20-30mins and then giving up. Got reply from them eventually, saying they do not see any issue with my account or any requests to change my plan. Avoid
I wish I could give minus rating to them. Their customer service is pathetic. despite me having opted for email/phone, they never sent any communications of the end of contract and removed the affinity discount and increased my gas and electricity bill significantly. When I called them to restore it, they refused to roll over the contract from the end date. They have no mechanism for grievance redressal and also least interested in doing so. I will switch and would never return to them.
I got an incorrect final bill - min 4x what was due. Much higher than the current meter reading a month later!!! Bordgais told me I'd have to get correct reading from my new supplier. New supplier told me that is between me and BGais! Stuck in a loop. Surely Bord Gais can get the correct reading the same way new supplier can! No email option to Bord Gais. Had to fill out Online customer contact form , then got fail error on submission, I had to start again. Then submitted again. I get no copy of my correspondence!!!
With them since 2016, never had any problems. when have a problem, sort it promptly by chat, phone or email.
Worst customer service ever. Received a bill in March for 1252.00. My usual bills are approx 250.00. I was advised that my bill has been estimated since 2019 even though I have submitted numerous metre readings in this time but no record of them. I was advised to turn off everything for at least four hours and check the metre before & after this period. Was due a callback the following day. No one has called since, spent 50 minutes on the phone this evening going around in circles, I felt like I was talking to a robot. No one is willing to help, answer an email or call back. I'm at a loss as to where to go from here. The worst I have ever dealt with.
If I could give 'minus stars' I would!! Bord gais don’t know what CUSTOMER SERVICE is! They’ll PROMISE YOU THE EARTH but none of their promises will come to ANYTHING! Misinformation is RIFE! NOTHING bord gais employees say should be trusted which leads me to wonder HOW WELL THEY ARE TRAINED? When THINGS GO WRONG, bord gais DOESN’T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. They ‘RUN FOR COVER’ and BLAME SOMEONE ELSE!
same problem as P E A R had, they got paid from the government credit then I paid for the same period again from my direct debit, i have asked the bank to claw it back for me if they cant then its back to the solicitors AGAIN, STICK WITH ELECTRIC IRELAND
Very disappointed this morning. Payment for 200.00e from government was received by them on the 5/4/22 leaving me in credit. However they took another payment from my bank account today which has already been paid for. Has this happened to anybody else?
Called several times, cut off three times spent over an hour on hold to be told to email them. Then received email back saying they will do their best to get back to me within 5 working days. Absolutely terrible experience, avoid avoid avoid
I changed from Energia to Board Gais, because I was looking for a cheaper energy company, turns out it's as expensive as Energia and the customer service of Board Gais is horrible. The guy who set up my account made a typo in my email, I had to call Board Gais to fix it and waited 30 minutes to receive an answer. There's no chat option in their website, their app it's awful, they don't send you a reminder to submit your meter reading. Also in the call I found out that I had a bill opened and had no idea, as my email was wrong. I had Eletric Ireland before and Energia, Board Gais is so bad, I regret so much changing companies.
Conned me into signing up with them and then raised prices by 30% a few weeks later. Refused to let me out of the contract unless I paid them €50. Holding customers hostage and rinsing them for every last penny they can is a terrible look. They even had the cheek to send an e-mail claiming the credit for the Government's €200 electricity payment.
As a new customer I wish I had read the reviews beforehand. After a few calls and pressing on the options on the phone I am told my call won't be taken. On a few occasions I tried to create online account but it tells me the account number is not recognised and cuts me off. Impossible to talk to someone. The automated call said I could give a meter reading but then no option available. Even if I have to pay more next year im out of here.
Booked a boiler maintenance service and they came the next day to do it. It did not take long and it was advised to do it yearly. I think the price was fair so will book it again when the time comes. The technician was lovely and on time! 100% recommended.
Terrible customer service. My bills have been estimated for a year. Have sent them on numerous occasions and still not changed. Estimated bill is 10000 units higher than my actual bill and no one wants to fix this. Made me send pictures with a newspaper with the date like i was lying. This country is an embarrassment when it comes to customer service.
