Review summary
BeSmart Utilities receives consistently positive reviews. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
I spoke to Rosheen today because I hadn’t correctly activated my groupon voucher code for my breakdown cover. She was really helpful and reassuring and guided me through the process, responding very quickly and clearly. She was excellent and I am now confident that I have the cover I bought. Thank you Rosheen.
Unfortunately I had to cancel my new policy, due to an issue with the age of my car so emailed Customer Services, who responded in a very timely manner. I dealt with Chloe and even though when she picked up the first email from me on a day off, she still made me aware she had picked it up and would keep me updated, which she did. The whole process with her, whilst also simultaneously dealing with Groupon was slick and it was a real pleasure to deal with somebody who kept you informed throughout the process and whose communication skills and customer service were exemplary. Thanks Chloe.
Quite shocking, was charged £45 told 90minutes for recovery & after 2hrs phoned back only to be told they had been delayed & were sending another breakdown company.Would you not have thought there system would have flagged up that the 90minutes had expired & for them to contact me rather than me call them.45 minutes later the other company turned up after I had been told they were coming from 10 miles away which turned out a lie as the driver had been heading back from Bradford when he got the call,so in all over 3 hrs after I originally called. They tell you things that aren't true & charge you 45 pound for the privilege.
Will not be going with this company again,I suppose you get what you pay for.Green flag or RAC may be a bit more expensive but you won't get ripped off when you break down.
Spoke to someone very quickly after our car wouldn’t start, they sent someone out within 90 minutes to fix the issue and we got back on the road.
Good communication and friendly staff.
Can't comment on what would happen if I broke down and had to call for assistance as that has fortunately not happened. However, getting through to speak to somebody is easy and the person that I spoke to today to sort out admin issues was lovely, really friendly and helpful so I hope this is an example of the way the company behaves in all aspects of their business.
Friendly and helpfull advice given when needed questions answered regarding my car breakdown policy. Nice to know that you can talk directly to a person instead of an AI generated Chat Bot.!
I can’t unsubscribe from their emails inviting me to renew my cover- I had to cancel breakdown cover with them after it was sold to me as home cover with no excess. However there was an excess, took ages to get my money back, awful company.
Update following response:
Just to clarify it was advertised for premium home cover (which cost more) via wowcher- as no excess- it shouldn’t be otherwise in the terms- that’s miss-selling a product. In terms of a refund I was repeatedly asked by different people for proof that I hadn’t needed recovery in the 14 days since purchase.
If I click unsubscribe from your emails, that should be automatic rather than me having to email yourselves to get that arranged. The good reviews here are clearly fake- BEWARE
have now been on hold for 1 hr 10 mins trying to get service for my aged and sickly mother who is without heating.
I have been the next caller in the queue for 25 minutes.
Appalling customer service.
I will be moving my mothers insurance immediately to a company who provides a service worthy of the name
Still waiting 1 hr 38 mins and counting.
This is supposed to be an Emergency callout service
It's a pity that any stars have to be left, perhaps a minus star rating should be introduce here
Dear Chloe
Thank you for your reply.
The number called is the one on both the documentation for the policy and on your website

Please contact me on the number provided on my subsequent email to your company last night to arrange the earliest appointment possible to give my elderly mother heating and hot water.
Disappointing - 3 1/2 hours wait on M1 hard shoulder
BeSmart 2/5*. Recovery driver 5/5*.
First time needing to use my breakdown cover. Ended up on M1 hard shoulder after getting an engine temperature warning light come on. From first call to BeSmart through to getting someone out took around 3 1/2 hours. I was told no roadside assistance technician was available at the time and the helpline estimated recovery at an hour. This was later changed as BeSmart couldn't source a cab large enough to take on three passengers. Due to this delay organising a recovery vehicle it took a further hour until we were picked up from the hard shoulder around 1:30 in the morning. Recovery driver from Burke Bros Recovery was great though, really friendly. BeSmart call centre wasn't amazing, what with motorway traffic noise, it was hard to work out who's talking to you when you can hear other call centre conversations in the background. Also seemed to be quite abrupt at ending calls. Overall lesson learnt is you get what you pay for...
I spoke with Chloe about my renewal plan and she was very helpful and took the time to send me an email setting the plans out succinctly which was a lot easier for me to understand and make a decision
Only leaving 1 star as 0 is not possible
This review relates to the motor recovery service they “offer”
AVOID at all costs. I signed up to this service as part of an offer and they left me waiting for what they said would be 4 hours, 4 hours and NOTHING, when I called they then extended the wait time, apparently central Edinburgh is rural and they were “unable to find a willing breakdown company locally who would venture out at 7pm” 4 hours was going to be 6 hours, with no guarantee of anyone. So I ended up paying a local garage to sort the issue myself. Awful customer service too!
Very unprofessional
Edited - reply from business below…
Yes I did email and call you about this experience (back in December when it occurred) and that was just as awful and unprofessional!
As everyone can see it’s a verified review and I think it speaks for itself.
No need for any further tokenistic replies
