Great teachers!

Kathrin has been an amazing teacher for the last year... Very friendly and engaging with the children and able to lead the lesson so that all the children get to improve and have a good time.

Excellent introduction to water no matter how young your baby

The swim instructors are fantastic, we had 2 in our time with water babies. From our first lesson when my little one was 6 weeks old to my last session when she was 8 months old. They were kind, helpful & most of all kept us safe in the water whilst having fun and bonding with our babies. It definitely helped my confidence & my little one has always loved the water & isn't scared at all. The only reason for 1 star short of 5 was the venue, because it is a private school it wasn't catered for the usual public swimming. So the changing facilities weren't set up with cubicles, showers, changing tables for babies etc. However, it was very local for us, so we were happy to compromise on this. We could have had lessons further afield with a more formal changing facility but this wasn't practical for us to travel.

Toria the waterbabies instructor at…

Toria the waterbabies instructor at jethen house is absolutely amazing!! She goes above and beyond to make parents and children feel comfortable, supported and heard. Nothing is too much trouble and any concerns you have regarding swimming with your little one is always taken into consideration and the support you didnt even know you needed is alway's given to make you feel confident and ready to swim with you baby. You can really tell the passion she has for waterbabies not only as an instructor but also as a parent who has been through it twice. Im so so glad I chose waterbabies and im so so glad we were put into Torias class.

Progressive and fun

Lessons are progressive and so much fun for me and my daughter. We have been attending since she was 12 weeks old and have no intentions to stop. The confidence gained in just 14 weeks is incredible. Lessons do tend to run late meaning we start later than expected, and this obviously will happen when dealing with children! but I have noticed that our session is occasionally cut five minutes short which is disappointing considering each session is over £20 for half hour.

Terrible experience, garbage company

Terrible experience, the classes are overpriced for what you get. took payment for a second term automatically and had to argue to get any money refunded for this. the notice it was going to happen was hidden in an email marked newsletter. Had the photo shoot at the end of term and the quality was not of that of photos seen on website yet when complained just told they where lovely and met brand standards, brand standards that they dont use on there website. appaling customer service, garbage company avoid at all costs

Worst company going

Worst company going! My baby did really enjoy the lessons however the customer service was horrendous. I also was charged £50 for not cancelling even though the teacher didn’t tell me of the cancellation date and I didn’t receive an email to tell me of the cancellation date. Ricci I believe her name is was far from helpful and very very rude along with the other members of the customer service team. I had to in the end go to my bank to ask for it to be reversed which then had my bank frozen whilst they checked the claim was legit. Secondly, after several of the lessons were cancelled due to illness and galas which we were only informed of the night before the lesson. Instead of refunding straight away as a decent company would and apologise, they kept my money until the end of term and when asked when I will receive it they said 3-5 working days…. Still waiting for the refund. Very rude staff, they need some customer service training or at least some manners. This was supposed to be a lovely experience for me and my family but it was anything but all they care about is when they are receiving the next direct debit. £160 for 10 lessons and then a further £175 for a photoshoot? Are they mad? Very rude, avoid at all costs!

Amazing teachers and great admin

Amazing teachers and super fun classes. The admin team is also extremely friendly and helpful, responding promptly and really trying to help in all that they can.

Fun lessons but facilities need to be improved

In the winter, the facilities do not allow for proper drying of children (e.g. wet changing room floors, no cubicles so children run/crawl everywhere and no hair dryer) before they leave the lesson. As a result, my son has been sick after each lesson since the weather has turned cold. So, whilst the teachers are good and the lessons are fun for the children - their poor changing and drying facilities mean that we've requested to cancel our ongoing lessons. The company have taken my feedback on board and have offered a refund of the term's fees (minus a £50 admin fee) - which I appreciate. Overall, my son enjoyed his lessons but I feel the facilities could definitely be improved.

Avoid this company!!!!!

Avoid this company!!!!! Worst experience, would highly recommend anyone to avoid this company at all costs!!! Firstly, the facilities were not baby friendly. There were no baby changing facilities and the only place to change the babies was on a cold floor. There was no where to dispose of dirty nappies either. Not enough changing rooms for the amount of people at the lesson meaning some people were changing crying babies on the floor in random places. We were not informed of the lack of facilities before the lesson as all this company is concerned with is taking your money and has no concern what so ever for it’s clients or the welfare of the babies. When I called and informed them of the lack of facilities I was asked, why could I not change my baby in a car seat!!! Clearly had no knowledge on babies as this would be unsafe and impossible!!!! The lady I spoke to was extremely rude and unhelpful. For the money you are paying proper facilities and polite staff is something I expected. Secondly, they took money automatically for the next block, which is in their terms and conditions but when I called to explain I had made a mistake and I didn’t want to continue the lady on the phone was again very very rude and showed no empathy what so ever. She didn’t want to give me any of my money back but after an hour on the phone she agreed to give me back 130 pounds and keep £50 for admin fees. I think we need an explanation of exactly what that £50 is paying for????? I explained that 50 pounds was a lot of money to me and that was a months worth of formula for a baby and withholding £50 could result in a family struggling to find money to feed a baby and therefore put the welfare of a baby at risk. Completely uninterested!!!!! Which is utterly disgusting!!!!!! I also asked if they considered the mental health of their clients in their terms and conditions but again uninterested in anything other than making money for their company!!!!

Big regret

Joined last April when opened after covid, my son wasn't really enjoying going under the water and was always crying after, the class was starting late as we had to wait for all the participants which is not fair and finish on time, even though was OK to keep trying to give my son an activity to enjoy. After my husband schedule changed at work, we couldn't make it on Wednesday so had to cancel the lessons, but surprise, £50 for administration fees, what the administration do to deserve £50 from my money ? So when you join no administration fees even though there is a lot to do but once u decide to leave, there is a cost. I've took my son somewhere else where he is very happy and not scared to go under water as the approach is much better. Would never go back or recommend shame really

Absolute Thieves!!

Absolute Thieves!!! I booked my son on a 10 week course with water babies and 2 of the sessions were cancelled due to issues with the pool. I received a message informing me that the money would be refunded, but it wasn't. Then I have another full course payment taken out of my account without any communication that would happen. When rang to ask to cancel the course and ask for a refund, I was told that there would be a £30 admin fee for the refund and the class that had been cancelled was discounted on the new course so basically they wouldn't give me the money back. This is basically day light robbery!

Friendly teachers but badly ran organisation

I recently joined Water Babies and was super excited to get my baby in the water. However, there have been several instances where they have been unorganised with class times being double booked, staffing issues leading to cancellations and not delivering on time with swimwear items ordered. You can see this is nothing to do with the teachers themselves who are all polite and friendly. It’s the company themselves who seem to lack in organisational skills. It’s a very expensive class. £15 for 30 minutes. So I decided not to go ahead with another term as they seem to get a lot wrong, when with those fees they should be doing a lot better. But because they have my card details on file they took payment from me without confirming if I wanted to sign up for another term. They should really have a system in place where they check in with people on their first term before assuming they would want to proceed to the next. When I reached out to them to get my money back, they decided not to refund £50 for ‘admin fees’. What admin fees I couldn’t tell you. For me it’s just not been the experience I thought it would be and would personally avoid choosing Water Babies. If Water Babies comment to ask me to email them to provide more information. Please note I have done that and gotten no where.

Avoid!!

We had the worst experience with water babies, the pool and changing room was so cold and not baby friendly. And when I cancelled I was charged for the two lessons plus £50 charge. So basically I paid around £80 to have my baby crying. For anyone booking check the pool temperature as it seems they’re different in each pool, which of course they wont tell this information when booking!!

Would not recommend

You’re paying top rage for a very mediocre service. I tried a number of pool options with my little girl and all were pretty grim. One included changing my 6 month year old on a narrow bench or on a wet dirty floor. When I complained they seem quite confused as to why this was unacceptable. Communications is also not their strong point. All staff members probably need a lesson in email étique and decorum. I’ll be joining puddle ducks or some other swimming club that isn’t just a franchised money making machine. Durham area review
