Great teachers!
Kathrin has been an amazing teacher for the last year... Very friendly and engaging with the children and able to lead the lesson so that all the children get to improve and have a good time.
Water Babies receives consistently positive reviews. Customers particularly appreciate professional and service, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.

The swim instructors are fantastic, we had 2 in our time with water babies. From our first lesson when my little one was 6 weeks old to my last session when she was 8 months old. They were kind, helpful & most of all kept us safe in the water whilst having fun and bonding with our babies. It definitely helped my confidence & my little one has always loved the water & isn't scared at all. The only reason for 1 star short of 5 was the venue, because it is a private school it wasn't catered for the usual public swimming. So the changing facilities weren't set up with cubicles, showers, changing tables for babies etc. However, it was very local for us, so we were happy to compromise on this. We could have had lessons further afield with a more formal changing facility but this wasn't practical for us to travel.
Toria the waterbabies instructor at jethen house is absolutely amazing!! She goes above and beyond to make parents and children feel comfortable, supported and heard. Nothing is too much trouble and any concerns you have regarding swimming with your little one is always taken into consideration and the support you didnt even know you needed is alway's given to make you feel confident and ready to swim with you baby. You can really tell the passion she has for waterbabies not only as an instructor but also as a parent who has been through it twice. Im so so glad I chose waterbabies and im so so glad we were put into Torias class.
Lessons are progressive and so much fun for me and my daughter. We have been attending since she was 12 weeks old and have no intentions to stop. The confidence gained in just 14 weeks is incredible. Lessons do tend to run late meaning we start later than expected, and this obviously will happen when dealing with children! but I have noticed that our session is occasionally cut five minutes short which is disappointing considering each session is over £20 for half hour.

This company is unprofessional I didn’t receive any updates on my childs swimming lessons, nor did I receive a reply to my emails. A staff member calling herself Lo was highly rude and aggressively speaking to me down the phone. She was talking about future lessons when I hadn’t heard anything about what was going on with the lessons I was still owed. Her attitude gave me no choice but to get a refund for the outstanding lessons so I could cut ties with this company ASAP! I would never recommend this company to anyone ever!

For about a month I tried to secure a spot in a Water Babies swimming class for my daughter. I sent three emails, none of which were answered. A month after my third email, I finally received an answer, saying that my email had been sat in their junk folder and the course requested had already been fully booked and they couldn't offer me a space as they operate on a first come, first serve basis. This is ridiculous, as it is not my fault no-one checked their junk folder. Moreover, I wonder which "email" they were referring to, as they should have had several emails sat in their junk folder. Since it is absolutely impossible to contact this company and book a course with them at a time that is actually convenient, I cannot recommend Water Babies at all and will therefore be booking swimming classes with a different provider.

Our 10 months old son really enjoys his swimming lessons. Unfortunately, we are changing companies following the discovery that Water Babies is exploiting the pandemic to profit. Several parents began a circular email after Water Babies announced that there would now be a mandatory £175 fee for the underwater photo shoot. Firstly, it’s worth noting that this shoot was included in the price of the lessons – it was part of the selling pitch, in fact. Therefore, a couple of us had assumed that the resultant photos were also included. Apparently, they are not, and although that may have ruffled a few feathers, we didn’t think to much of it at the time. Subsequently an email goes around saying that now the purchase of all photos would be mandatory to save the parents the ‘dilemma’ of deciding which ones to choose (if any). One of the fathers who works in invoice financing used a very apt analogy; he said that he may tell clients about other financial products that may be of interest to them, but he doesn’t then add £10k onto their invoice to save them the dilemma of actually making a choice. The thing that’s really upset people (myself included) is that they tried to say that’s it to keep people covid safe by not having to be in the same room as the parents to show then the photos. Yes, I’m completely serious. The notion of sending low-res watermarked proofs to parents is not something they thought of, apparently. The irony is that in exploiting covid for profit, they’re also exploiting parents at a time when everybody is trying to be a little more careful with money. For many parents, simply cancelling the shoot was sufficient, but we really didn’t want to give any more money to this company so decided not to renew next term.

I wanted to post on here to warn others thinking of joining Waterbabies of my terrible experience. My 2 1/2 month old daughter, husband and I attended a Waterbabies class in for the first time yesterday and if I am completely honest we all found the whole thing completely traumatic. The class size was massive and much much larger than I thought safe. The changing rooms were packed due to so many people getting changed at the same time that my baby girl was almost trampled on whilst I changed her for the swim. I emailed prior to the session to let Waterbabies know that she is on the bigger size for a 2 1/2 month old and is actually outgrowing 3-6 month clothes. Despite this I was given a tiny small sized happy nappy and a 3-6 month wetsuit for her to wear on arrival. I found it odd that I had been given a wetsuit when I had actually paid for a baby wrap but have just seen on the website that they have sold out so obviously tried to change my order without letting me know which I am not happy about at all. The wetsuit we were given was also a size too small. Due to us having to find the person to give us the correct size swim wear we were almost 15 minutes late to the class and my poor daughter got really stressed and upset because we had to rush around changing her and trying to squeeze her into tiny swim wear. To note we had got there 20 minutes early as suggested by Waterbabies. I ended up bursting into tears as my husband took her into the pool and she cried for the duration of the class. We are very disappointed as had been so looking forward to starting swimming lessons but are just completely shocked and appalled about how yesterday went. I emailed straight after the class and am yet to have a reply. The class size was dangerous and we will be seeking a full refund and looking elsewhere.

I would not recommend Water Babies. This is an expensive service. The teachers we had were all enthusiastic and professional. My son really enjoyed most of the lessons and particularly the singing portions were great fun. However; I do not believe the water submersion portion of the water training is ethical. I think it is a cruel and vain thing for parents who want a nice underwater photo; I did as well. But after seeing the selection pictures and the distress on my childs face, I feel absolutely awful and i am sure that this is not what I should have subjected him too. In terms of customer service, this company is lacking. Any issues you encounter with unservicable pools (the pools emperature not being acceptable for babies, or other children vomiting or excreting in the pool will result in cancellations) will lose you lessons that you have paid for. You may be offered an alternative lesson at a different location (not of your choosing) later in the week, but if you cant make that class (for me, a 50 minute drive away from the pool I had selected for lessons), then you simply lose your money with no credit or lesson in lieu to be taken at a later stage. Their poor pool selection and any unfortunate luck is absolutely coming out of your pocket. The photos of your child are also extortionately over priced.
