Great teachers!

Kathrin has been an amazing teacher for the last year... Very friendly and engaging with the children and able to lead the lesson so that all the children get to improve and have a good time.

Excellent introduction to water no matter how young your baby

The swim instructors are fantastic, we had 2 in our time with water babies. From our first lesson when my little one was 6 weeks old to my last session when she was 8 months old. They were kind, helpful & most of all kept us safe in the water whilst having fun and bonding with our babies. It definitely helped my confidence & my little one has always loved the water & isn't scared at all. The only reason for 1 star short of 5 was the venue, because it is a private school it wasn't catered for the usual public swimming. So the changing facilities weren't set up with cubicles, showers, changing tables for babies etc. However, it was very local for us, so we were happy to compromise on this. We could have had lessons further afield with a more formal changing facility but this wasn't practical for us to travel.

Toria the waterbabies instructor at…

Toria the waterbabies instructor at jethen house is absolutely amazing!! She goes above and beyond to make parents and children feel comfortable, supported and heard. Nothing is too much trouble and any concerns you have regarding swimming with your little one is always taken into consideration and the support you didnt even know you needed is alway's given to make you feel confident and ready to swim with you baby. You can really tell the passion she has for waterbabies not only as an instructor but also as a parent who has been through it twice. Im so so glad I chose waterbabies and im so so glad we were put into Torias class.

Progressive and fun

Lessons are progressive and so much fun for me and my daughter. We have been attending since she was 12 weeks old and have no intentions to stop. The confidence gained in just 14 weeks is incredible. Lessons do tend to run late meaning we start later than expected, and this obviously will happen when dealing with children! but I have noticed that our session is occasionally cut five minutes short which is disappointing considering each session is over £20 for half hour.

Great teachers, awful company that won't honour sessions or refund

The swimming teacher Jo was absolutely brilliant, if this review was for her alone it would be 5 stars. Sadly, the company behind the teachers letter them down. I booked a block and during booking was told I could rearrange sessions missed due to a family holiday. Down the line, I was told COVID restrictions prevented this, they were only rearranging sessions based on a medical letter and then just a flat our refusal, despite being assured verbally and in writing that we could rearrange. So disappointing. Two sessions missed and refund refused. I've contacted consumer rights.

Terrible customer service and flexibility, tiny and dirty pool

The pool is tiny and changing facilities dirty, and there are no showers available (!!!), however the only positive is the teacher (Bethany?) who is lovely and kind. If you miss a lesson, even with weeks of notice beforehand, they won’t give you a credit which is ridiculous. Our daughter has dance, riding etc lessons and they are all cancelable with 24 hours notice. Unfortunately we missed the deadline to “opt out” for the next term and have been charged, but will make sure to cancel well ahead of the deadline for the next term and instead find a more customer friendly and cleaner swimming school going forward.

Won’t be continuing…

Just coming to the end of our term at water babies. Can’t fault our teacher she is great and very reassuring. Only slight criticism is 10 weeks is probably too long for a term as seems to be a little repetitive each week (guess there’s only so much you can do with a baby in the water). So what’s really left a bitter taste is I have been charged a £30 ‘administration fee’ as I didn’t ‘opt out’ for the next term. Now personally I think that’s a ridiculous system and it should be a case of re-enrolling rather than opting out. I did receive an email about this (into my junk) however due to being extremely busy with children and life in general I missed the deadline. I was told basically it’s tough and the admin fee was already taken from my account. The next day I noticed another £18 had been taken from my account (without any authorisation) for an extra lesson to apparently bridge the gap between terms?! I have had no email to advise I will be charged £18 for a lesson I don’t want to do. I’ve been told it will be refunded however it is slightly concerning they seem to be taking money from my account without any notification. So overall BEWARE of the re-enrolment email and ensure you ‘opt out’ within your designated time to avoid extra costs. Won’t be continuing I’m afraid.

Greedy company; destroyed daughter confidence in pool

We are so disappointed Waterbabies as they put their greed for money before swimming lessons basic standards. Class size of 10 ( 10 children plus 10 adults. Too large a class where there is no room to move as too many bodies. Cannot hear the anything the teacher says as they are too far away and the general noise of the pool too loud. Chaos of other class members not being able to hear means everybody confused by what’s going on. Teacher spoke to us once in the lesson. Multiple teachers during the term so no consistency. Daughter gets very upset with it all - and very cold with all the standing around that she is not confident I. The water and apparently now hates swimming. Due to the complete lack of swimming instruction in these “lessons” we have requested the following term of swimming is cancelled. WaterBabies insist on charging £50 cancellation charge. However the quality of the lesson is so appalling this is completely unacceptable.

Dangerous and dirty changing facilities. Particularly treacherous when baby starts crawling. Certain members of staff are officious and unpleasant. Sessions themselves quite fun but not fun enough to make up for the downsides.

Use another company!

Wish I’d read these reviews before booking, paid up front and in full, had more sessions cancelled than have been too…. After paying upfront the company has now taken an additional £33 without permission or even a phone call. Now struggling to get the money back that they took without permission… pretty sure that’s not legal!! The session we have actually had the instructors have been lovely, come on office and finance you are letting the company down!!

Brilliant!!

Excellent classes, well structured, amazing teacher and my 2 year old loves them. When we started at 10 weeks old, the process was easy and efficient (terms and conditions are clearly laid out if you bother to read them). Changing facilities are perfectly adequate and very clean. We look forward to the next 2 years of classes learning important skills to keep safe in the water, thank you!!

I was so disappointed by water babies

I was so disappointed by water babies. I tried to cancel my sons class well in advance of the next term because we simply couldn’t afford the time off work to go or the classes due to the Covid recession. They charged me a £50 cancellation fee (their T&C says a maximum of £50 so I expected this to be lower given I cancelled two months at least before the term began) and also took the money for the next classes out my account without my consent leaving my family short for Christmas. I had always thought they were family friendly but was sad to see how little they cared for our circumstances and how greedy they were with our money! Also the changing facilities were very slippy and dangerous for children, especially when they learned to walk.
