Travelled with RSD to Nepal in June

Travelled with RSD to Nepal in June. Very good holiday, saw lots of interesting places, guide was superb and hotels were of a good standard. I would recommend the RSD holiday to Nepal

Cultural trip to Sri Lanka

I have travelled with RSD a few times and have never had a bad experience. An excellent way of seeing a country at an affordable price.

Fantastically beautiful country with lovely people

Went to Sri Lanka with RSD - fantastic countryside, amazing friendly people, good hotels and an amazing journey around the country in all its guises - one of the best trips of my life (I travel 10 mths a year) - why so good - people, no hassles of any kind going out, low cost economy, wonderful weather - an absolute gem of a holiday full of variety with something for everyone.

An Absolutely Fantastic Trip To The Balkans!

We had a wonderful holiday seeing so many UNESCO sites in Kosova, North Macedonia, Montenegro & Albania. Except for the last one, which was a little bit "Soviet era", the hotels were lovely with excellent food, very comfortable indeed. Our Turkish guide Gdoikca went above & beyond to help all passengers on her coach, even rescuing a hearing aid, which had fallen out in Cafe Mozart in Budva, Montenegro & organising for someone to drive it to our hotel at least 2 hours away so we had it before the coach left next morning.

My first experience with RSD was to doubt their claims. We now know that they provide wonderful cheap holidays

My first experience with RSD was to Turkey. I was very reluctant to go as it seemed a con. They provided everything in the brochure. Since then I have been to the Cappadocia tour, the Northern Cyprus Tour, the Crete Tour and we are booked for the Croatia Tour. We are very surprised that people do not realise that the visits to carpet factories, jewellery stores, leather exhibitions etc. help make our holiday cheaper. We are very happy at the wonderful places we have visited and the high quality hotels where we have enjoyed the facilities and the wonderful food. We cannot understand the reviews that differ from our own.

I traveled to Northern Cyprus in May…

I traveled to Northern Cyprus in May 2022. I loved the travelling around the area, seeing the sights . My fellow travellers were really good fun and interesting people . Our bus driver was ace . Our tour guide was a bully and made me and my companions feel guilty because we refused to buy the all inclusive package for our 2nd week there. She stated that there was nowhere close by to eat . Lies a shuttle bus took us into the nearest town where there was loads of very nice different places to eat . She also said that we owed it to the people of Cyprus to support them as they were just coming out of Covid !! On our travels we were forced to go to a carpet factory, leather factory and a jewellery outlet . The sales assistants were very pushy and refused to believe that I didn’t have the money to buy anything . One of our party bought jewellery which on return has been valued as 4 times less valuable than what was paid for it . I am unsure if I would travel with this company again . It appears an amazing deal! My advice to anyone using this company is to read the small print , discuss it with the agent and be strong when dealing with the tour guides.

North of Cyprus from RSD

North of Cyprus from RSD I have travelled to this company first time. I thought it was really an amasing flight after this pandemic. I was surprised that my friend was not aware of the visa application despite he is booked a year back in advance. Psychologically not helpful when we asked them how they would help. They could have helpful to investigate it. But nothing had been done. So much work to call the embassy etc two days before our flight. The tourist guide were nice but they have this secret agenda of scammed people of taking them to this carpet makers, jewellery makers, and the leather maker. Carpet markets took £7000 off my credit for the items. And promised and offered 2 items for and give me a discount to make me pay them there and then. They took my card away and asked my address and they said they will arranged everything without extra. After 6 weeks I found out looking at my invoice the amount was 4 x the total amount they took off my credit account. I have emailed them how they did it to me to explain. They were not even try to explain things in writing. They keep calling me n leaving a message they would like to explain. I said to them to explain here via email but they could not even explain how. How many emails n voicemail I received everyday since I claimed dispute off my credit card. And sent them my invoice off my hand worth £1550 If you analyse the amount 1550 versus 7000 was so much ripped off they did. There is no way they want to returned my money back. So don’t ever buy to those market tour and don’t believe to those sweet mouth n tongue 👅 of guide n those people off market. They will offer u drinks to get ur mind with them. All of them all over u and locked u up in one room n they will whisper not to tell anyone abt the transactions. Until now they still emailing me abt this. I told them I never signed anything that amount for the items and those free they offered were also priced. So scammed they did with my account. People believed that those tourist guides were involved with this to take off part of the cash for them to have from customers. And the same thing in the jewellery market. It was hidden n hard to get away without a car. I was so scared of going there on my own to get my credit back three times to change my mind. They will not give you the items u liked unless u will give more. I asked the tourist guide with us to contact them just to return coz I changed my mind but never get helped n even reply to me because the job n the tour was finished. I was patiently went there with my best friend to be firmed with them but I was scared a lot of they locked u in the room in and out people offering u different items again before even asked me to sign of my money to be return to my account. After that they will just become cold to you. All of the people looked at u like they don’t even care. That’s really unpleasant feeling I had with this tour. I wasted my time for doing other things to enjoy but I have not trusted no one that holiday anymore and I have a big arguments with my fiancé because of what happened. In the room were they locked u away they will whispered not to tell anyone about that negotiations we did. That’s their motive to not anyone know what really they are with customers. Leather market can u believe one piece offering £ 5000 for one piece? My best friend said big nope from them n I found out that lots of even good leather cost only £200. They will not give up and corner u separately. They think we all no brain to realise how they were. It’s a 5 star hotel all inclusive but u need to pay extra before arrival. It is too far to go to the city. No choice to go out because u paid for everything. Otherwise another extra fare for the bus service or taxi extra if u go out. Looking for a flight back for emergency there were no flights to look. So bad if u had big problem to go home. The people with us were all nice because we were the youngest there in that tour surprisingly amasing couples and like my parents who guide us there. They were all lovely. That’s the fact. Missing them as become closed to them. That’s the only take away from that travel. Don’t get trapped to the secret agendas of those tour guides with the carpet’s jewelleries n leather market place. Together n don’t let them separate you and locked u off different rooms. Offer u drinks n discounts and whispering to u secretly not to tell anyone abt transactions. Wake up guys not to be victimised with their traps 🪤

Want a beach hotel? Limited mobility?Don`t go!

Tour to Croatia, B&H and Montenegro with extension hotel "on the beach", my 6th with RSD. Asked for change of hotel (refused) because it was 270mtrs from the beach and separated from it by 4 other hotels, construction works and a busy dual carriageway. My wife was recovering from a broken leg and was therefore unable to negotiate the distance and 150 steps to the beach. The beach itself was covered in debris and not fit for holiday activity. An RSD email stated this holiday was unsuitable for a person with limited mobility but was unable to point to where this was explained in the documentation for this or any other RSD tour. RSD promised to contact me about this complaint on my return. They didn`t. They rejected my written complaint about the clearly misleading description of the holiday and continue to defend the indefensible. They also failed to commit to changing their advertising material so that future customers were not adversely affected. By the way, the food at the hotel was abysmal. RSD have been pretty good in the past but selling, and continuing to sell holidays under false pretences really is a step too far. Their attitude has been crushingly disappointing. My advice to potential customers is to think carefully before booking with RSD as, like me, they may not get what they believe they have paid for. Goodbye RSD, hello ABTA complaints procedure. Goodby

Psychological, unethical manipulation techniques lost these potential customers

They have lost some potential customers from the outset. I rang the number to gain information. I was happy to gain more information and consider whether I wished to take them up on the special offer. While I considered, I was persuaded to reserve the booking, with the benefit that I would receive all the information, with the impression that I would just let them know in a couple of days if I wanted to keep this reservation. What was not made clear until I received the e-mail, was that if I did not contact them to cancel or change the booking, it would automatically turn into a 'binding booking'. To extra add to my annoyance with this, I said I did not want the gourmet extra addition, but I would look into it and consider it, but again I was encouraged to add it, receive more information on it, and then decide. I did not receive any more information than I already had. So for anyone with vulnerabiities, neurodiversities or general forgetfulness or with internet issues for a short space of time, this could be disastrous. All it would require is forgetting about this for 2-3 days, not feeling confident enough to cancel this booking, not contacting to cancel the reservation and it would turn into a binding booking. The only saving grace is at least the e-mails sent made it clear - as long as they are read with a mediocre inch of carefulness. Still, if they are not read, not expecting it to turn into a binding booking, that would be problematic. If I want to book something, if it is really good, I will book it, I do not need these manipulation techniques. Such psychological manipulation tactics are appalling to me so has put us off booking now. I will be asking the magasine that I received the offer from to no longer advertise them, as this behaviour is unethical and manipulative.

RSD tours can offer good value but there is a price to pay

I recently returned from RSD’s 15 day, 5 star tour of Northern Cyprus. My wife and i and have been on 4 previous tours with RSD and I feel they offer value for money but after our recent trip I will not travel with them again The tours are cleverly marketed. The Cyprus tour basic price was £249 for 2 weeks and this is clearly aiming to get potential customers hooked. You then pay an extra £35 to travel from London, though Manchester is at no extra cost. Next come the “seasonal price increases” ranging from £0 in early March to £240 in mid-May. Thus, the basic cost has immediately doubled if you opt to travel in mid-May The basic package includes hotel room and breakfast but you can pay £129 for half-board terms with a “ delicious buffet” every evening in the hotel for the first week.. Our past experience has led us not to take this offer as the buffets are invariably very average in quality with warm/cold food of limited variety. We also preferred to try to eat out at local restaurants and have always been successful so far The basic price includes coach excursions with guide but they then offer further “optional” excursions of around £70 each On the touring week you are obliged to visit 3 retail outlets - carpet, jewellry and leather outlets for around 2 hrs each. These are not without interest (when you visit them for the first time) but after a demo of, for example, how carpets are made, you are ushered into the marketing hall when a large team of aggressive salespersons press you very hard to buy grossly overpriced goods. On our trip, one person bought an attractive leather jacket for £1500 but the initial asking price had been £8000. On a previous trip I had asked an obviously off-message salesman why no goods ever had price labels; the answer “ we are told to ask any price we can get away with”. RSD reps insist you go into these outlets and are very unhappy/angry if you ask to leave early or make no purchase. Beware, these visits do not support local craftworkers but are cynical attempts to fleece you by rich companies who clearly have a business relationship with RSD who provide them with regular busloads of tourists The episode than led me to decide not to use RSD again occurred on our arrival night. We got to Ercan Airport late - at about 9.45pm.. As i boarded the coach, the first thing the local rep said to me was I was the only one who hadn’t bought the dinner package and i needed to decide now. I told him I wished to see the hotel and its location before deciding in the morning..He was clearly angry at this and on 3 further occasions during the transfer to the hotel he approached me saying i had to decide that night. As I continued to refuse to decide that night he became increasingly aggressive and as my tolerance for this behaviour rapidly dwindled we ended up shouting at each other to everyone’s embarrassment on the coach. On arriving at the hotel near 11pm, he started once again becoming angry and aggressive in speech and manner. He said I would have to leave the tour and I, in turn demanded a change of rep and change of coach. He never apologised all week and we simply disregarded each other . I have formally complained to RSD about this person and await their response. I am not seeking any compensation but truly felt they needed to know how appallingly one of their reps had behaved when i chose not to take an “optional” dinner package. On previous trips the reps had been generally pleasant but they all pushed the optional extras hard and made one feel very uncomfortable about declining them So, in summary, these tours can offer good value but the basic cost can easily treble or more, and you must be prepared for considerable pressure from reps to buy optional extras and tolerate the marketing outlets and their own very hard-pressing sales staff

On our return journey

On our return journey. We got off our bus outside the airport. There were very little staff there. We waited in a queue with everyone else. I was in agony as I have oestoarthtritis. My husband asked several times for a wheelchair as we had ordered one in advance. I struggled to stand, no wheelchair! I managed to get through customs after several attempts, they too my cane off me, I held onto my husband, but as he was struggling with all the luggage, could not help me, he was still making a fuss about a wheelchair, and after clearing, I pointed myself on a chair and waited, and waited, and waited. Half an hour later, much to my relief, my husband appeared, we were told to go along and stand in another long queue, after nearly an hour someone got me a chair, for which I was very grateful. It made my experience much less stressful. We found a place to sit down, my wheelchair had disappered. All the other remaining passengers got into a buggy. There was not enough room left for us, so we waited for another wheelchair, it did not arrive. Other passengers had told the driver we were still waiting, after a while a buggy arrived, the driver had used his initiative and listened to the other passengers and came to find us. If he hadn,t done this I think we would still be in the airport. He looked after us, got our luggage, and dropped us off at the front entrance. We cannot thank him enough. He went out of his way to look after us and went above and beyond to make sure we were safe.

A very good trip Ideal for those…

A very good trip Ideal for those wanting to see the main sights in the north part of the island. The last hotel was a bit isolated with not much option to walk or go to local island life without more expense. As extras you are taken to Jewellery, Carpet and Leather warehouses. The gold is some three times the price of local Jewellery, shops and is accompanied with hard sell tactics, use the the local gold shops to at least get a bas figure for what you want.

I’m due to go on an eight day trip to…

I’m due to go on an eight day trip to the Cappadocia. Trying to get information out of this company has been very difficult. My friend is now not going there’s been an issue so I am left to go alone. I’ve been trying to find out which hotels are we staying at. I’ve been told abruptly on two occasions that I will know when I arrive. I do not consider this to be satisfactory as I’m going to be alone traveller and apparently according to the information I now have the group will be split up and going to different hotels. So I’ve no idea where I’m going to be or who I’m going to be weird. I would like to know if anybody has done this trip and how they found it

Bad call RSD

We have had many holidays with RSD and been satisfied customers. I booked a holiday to Croatia for March 2023 to coincide with my birthday. I received a phone call from RSD saying that the date I had booked had been cancelled but I could choose either November this year or a week later than my original booking in 2023. I agreed to the later booking, even though it would miss the birthday. I was then informed that there would be an extra cost but not to worry because they had given me a discount of £35 leaving me with ‘only’ an extra £50 to pay. At this point I said “hang on, you are changing the date of my holiday; it is not particularly convenient for me but you expect me to pay you extra?” Yes was the reply. I asked the operator to check with a supervisor which he did and confirmed this was “company policy”. I asked for a manager to call me back. The Operations Manager did call me back. He not only reiterated that this was “company policy” but was extremely rude and condescending, mansplaining what a seasonal price increase was. I said I fully understood what it was but I hadn’t chosen a date later in the season, it was RSD requiring me to change my date to suit them. I asked him if he thought this was a good business decision, being willing to lose a good and long-standing customer for the sake of £50? He replied, that he would not respond to “emotional blackmail” What a staggeringly rude response! I was prepared to compromise up until that comment. I assured him that as I was cancelling the holiday and never travelling with RSD again, he would not need to worry about being emotionally blackmailed. Having since checked the original brochure again, I notice that it does not specify any March dates and has the whole of March 2023 marked as zero for a seasonal price increase. As is often the case, it is not the original problem, but the way they deal with it that defines a company. Bad call RSD.
