Review summary
Princess Cruises has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
We booked the Princess Premier Package and for 2 days now they've blocked my stepsons medallion insisting he can only buy non alcoholic drinks. He's 28 years old!! The ship is tired and a lot smaller cabins than other cruiselines we've used. Spent more time at guest services than enjoying the actual cruise
The cruise experience itself was actually pretty good. The problem I have with them is a policy issue. My fiancee works for an airline and is able to get travel discounts, which she used to book the cruise. After booking I was looking at the Princess website and realized they offer a military/veterans onboard credit. As a vet I thought this was great. I went through the verification process and waited for my credit to be applied. And waited, and waited. I decided to call customer service to see why the credit hadn't been applied. I was told because my fiancee booked with her discount that I wasn't entitled to the veteran's credit. I'm not sure what one has to do with the other, but I hope Princess addresses this in the future.
I'm so surprised to a company like princess has so many issues with customer safety, with insecure rooms, witnessed customers being attacked infront of staff, two other incidents that almost led to attacks in front of staff who in the staff words "didn't want to involve security as the head gets angry" which i can 100% relate to with his dismissive and confrontational attitude when we tried to reported our concerns with not locking rooms, the green unlocked light stays on even when you are out of sight of your cabin, allowing anyone behind you to enter your room without your knowledge, apparently not a problem from the head of ship security (you won't be covered on insurance) repeated entertainment and menu if on for over a week, dirty plates and napkins left on buffet tables, not to mention the movement sensor light in the cabin that comes on if you go to the bathroom at night and lights the whole room without being able to turn it off.
I took cruise back in August and my Booking #CD5CVM. Due to bad weather our Prepaid excursion was cancelled and we were told we will receive a refund check. The refund amount is close $300.
My sail dates were Aug 24-31, 2019. I still have NOT received the check.
I waited until October and I made my first call on Oct 6, 2019. All agents that I spoke to till date have given me different dates and different answers. They keep transferring me from department to department.
Initially they told me your check was sent out on Sept 13, 2019 and so maybe wait for couple days and if you still don't receive it, talk to Accounting department. When I called again to talk to Accounting department they said its something Customer service department needs to take care of. When I called again they said 'we don't have a full address for yo. We will go ahead and cancel the check that we sent earlier and re issue the check.' I don't understand why would they not verify the address before sending out the check.
When I called again to get an update on the check they said they have to now wait to get the refund from the check that they had sent and only than they can reissue another check. This is sooooo ridiculous. I was not informed about this when I called earlier. I was told they are reissuing the check.
I called last week to see if they reissued the check and they said no they are still waiting to receive the refund from the check they sent earlier.
I called today and they said the check was reissued on OCT 16, 2019 and they gave me Bottomline's phone number where I can track my check, a third party through which they sent out a check. Right after talking to these Morons I called Bottomline and they had no records of check that was sent out on Oct 16, 2019. So I call Princess cruises again to see whats really going on???
The representative was not even ready to listen the whole story and just transferred me Revenue department. Revenue department transferred me to Reservations department. The representative than tells me the check was issued on OCT 9, 2019 so i told than why don't Bottomline have any records of the check???? Representative tells me i am not sure about that! This is the answer I get. Later she tells me the Process was of reissuing the check was started on OCT 9, 2019. So i asked when are you going to mail out the check and she tells me she don't have exact date for that.
I demanded to talk to her Manager and she tells she has no way to contact a manager and she can transfer to the supervisor. I had already talk to a supervisor and they are of no help either.
Princess cruises steal your money and have no intention of returning your money.
They will RIP YOU OFF and give you run around. Once your done sailing, they don't care. They got your money and that's all they care about. The customer service SUCKS and the representative have no intention of helping you.
BEWARE of this biggest STEALING COMPANY!!!!!!!!
We just got off the Crown Princess, cruise from Southampton, UK to Ft.Lauderdale, FL. 9/21/19 to 10/8/19
This was our first Princess cruise but not our first cruise. By far.
The first thing that worried us was the fact they did not have any hand sanitizer upon entering the ship. Every cruise has that. And of course by the end of the cruise most everyone was coughing, sneezing etc. Including me, I go Monday to the Doc, thanks Princess!
Once we found the cabin we noticed it was dirty. It had been prepared, but soap scum left in shower, hair, dust, ring from coffee cup (we have pictures) so not deep cleaned.
Went up to customer service, stood in wrong line for 45 minutes, because they do not have any signage and no staff to ask. Get in correct line, another 30 minutes, only to be told they do not have anywhere to move us. The GSR DID NOT ASK why we had a cabin issue, she just jumped in that she couldn't help. But suggested we come back once the ship leaves port, that maybe someone would miss the ship and we could have that cabin! (we would have been happy w/someone just cleaning ours!)
Going back after leaving port, we got the same result, different GSR, they can't help! Again NO ONE ASK WHY!
I ended up wiping down the counter to remove the hair and dust with my own sanitizer. Hair and scum was still in shower 16 days later when we left the ship!
Whole ship needs to be dry docked, cleaned and updated. We've been on older ships but this one is so beat up, floor is coming up in areas(on deck 16, inside elevator for example) The chair tables (not sure they are called inside princess theater are fifthly. Went to several shows, sat in different areas, used tables to hold drinks and every table was dirty w/very old stains. Those stains that are sticky and dusty! Just everywhere you go you see food stains or something. Gross.
This ship itself is not stable, even in the calmer waters we rocked way more than a normal ship. Something has to be wrong with those stabilizer. Does it have stabilizers?
I understand we had to miss TWO ports because of weather, but both should have been forecasted ahead of time, and concisions should have been made. New ports or maybe staying longer at another port. An RC ship was on same path, they stayed any extra day to avoid what our captain tried to do, who was smarter?!
Why did this captain even try to get into Portland, UK? Knowing Humberto was sitting over that part of the country and sea?
Lastly, this Medallion class, I for one, was not happy about having my name and picture in full view of everyone on the ship. PRIVACY is a THING PRINCESS! You may want to rethink that before you are sued!
Overall, I WILL NEVER TAKE a Princess cruise again, and will make sure I tell everyone I meet to avoid them. And will pass on to the CDC, that they need to inspect this ship.
Beware that if you purchase effy jewellery on board, unless you live in USA it's an absolute nightmare and takes around 2 and a half months for Princess Cruise to refund.also you have to arrange FedEx completing all import export documents to return your goods for repair. Effy will not refund if you purchase on the ships
I will never take another cruise with is company again if it were half price. I should have known things would not be has expected when they called and asked me if I would cancel the cruise and take a different one because they had over booked. I refused, and then they asked if I would change from a cabin with a balcony to a inner cabin, again I refused. I booked a cabin with balcony and double bed. I got cabin with two single beds. During the cruise we found ourselves surrounded by cameras by people who thought they were photographers. They even come taking pictures whilst eating meals. The pictures were not very good and any person could have taken them just has well. They really try and sell these pictures at an expensive price that just are not worth the paper they are printed on. The drinks package is expensive, but that depends on how much you drink, but the package does not include all drinks. When you purchase the drinks package there is a 15% added for tips. When I read this I cancelled the tips. The 15% included tips for children. Now when a young child orders a drink and is expected to give a tip is outrageous. The trips are also expensive and I was disappointed with them. We booked a trip for every possible day and on every trip I was sick of been told by the guide when they pointed out something of interest that we do not have time to stop. On one trip we made a stop and were told it was for one (1) minute. I am disabled and could not even get off the coach in that time. The main complaint I have is that we booked one trip for about 90$ each. The night before the trip I slipped on one of the stairs (my fault). When my wife explained that because I hurt my ankle and the trip involved a lot of walking I we would have to cancel the trip. She was told that we would not receive any refund and if we wished to take a lesser walking trip we would be charged for it. So we had to pay another 30$ each to change the trip. Now I know the company was not obliged to refund, but I thought that under the circumstances they would consider helping their passengers by exchanging the trip without any refund, I would have thought that is the least they could have done. When you make a purchase on the cruise it is automatically charged to your credit/debit card, which is ok but, I have received my credit card statement with a charge of £152 and I do not know what is for because I have not received any invoice from the company. I have asked for one but have yet not even received a reply, completely ignoring me. One very poor point I found is the staff. They smile giving the message they have been told to do so. One member of staff was even very rude to my wife.
In my opinion this company promises you all to get your booking. Once on the ship they are there to empty your bank account at all costs. I even have my thoughts that are possible they use plants when holding sale or auction, just like blackpool, but that is only my opinion with no proof and should not be taken positively.
So if you intend to book a trip with this company take the time to read all terms and conditions because they are there to protect the company only. I did not. One last thing is that they even charge you for the internet, and I mean they charge you.
Judging by all other comments left this company will not even try to give any reply. Never again
This was meant to be a holiday of a life time travelling to shanghai Japan and then onto Beijing. Staff couldn't wait to get off the ship, food was like a cheap buffet I could get back home. Expected food from around the world or at least options of the countries we visited. Tours included a western lunch (in Japan really!!) Disembarkation was an absolute joke and quite honestly a fire hazard or health and safety hazard. Missed our connecting flight to Beijing as we couldn't get off the ship due to no one (staff) knowing who was meant to be where. Absolute joke. Apparently approximately 40 others also missed their flight. Saw a stretcher trying to board the ship but struggled to get pass hundreds of people trying to get off. I will never travel with them again! During a tour they rushed us so much we lost my father and another family. I'm just in the process of compiling my complaint. Disappointed is a understatement!!
Ruby Princess Cruise - Worst Service Experience Ever!
We went on an Alaskan cruise on the Ruby Princess. Alaska and the tours we did were amazing. Princess Cruises, not so much...... I wanted to try Princess Cruises because I thought the demographics might be more fitting for my husband and I as we are in our thirties. I'd cruised on Holland America and the service was great but definitely seemed a bit more catered to an older crowd. We were so disappointed in the service we received on the Princess Cruise. We paid $5,000 for our balcony stateroom and were woken up every day between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. because our whole room would shake when people in the gym above us would drop their weights on the floor. All day if we were trying to relax in our room, the whole room would shake. We were told it was our travel agent's fault for putting us in that room (even though we didn't book with a travel agent). They shouldn't even be using these rooms since they are clearly not suitable and IF they are going to use the rooms, a disclaimer of the noise should be made and they should be sold at a discounted rate. The guest services staff couldn't care less about our problem and did nothing to help. I've been trying to get in touch with customer service and they don't respond to my inquiries.
Additionally, other service on the cruise was sub-par. I purchased a balcony breakfast before we left and it took me forever to get through to room service to actually schedule the breakfast. I finally got through after waiting on hold for 10 minutes at 11 p.m. - I called earlier in the day several times and the phone rang and rang. Same thing when trying to book specialty dining. While we had reservations for specialty dining a few nights, we decided on a whim we'd like to go to the specialty restaurants but they don't answer the phone when you call to make a reservation. We went without a reservation and they were so rude about the fact that we didn't have a reservation even though the restaurant wasn't even half full. Then the manager walked around shaming people for eating the bread. It was such bizarre behavior. The food at the food court was honestly inedible. It reminded me of the food they used to serve in my elementary school cafeteria in the 1990s.
The cherry on top was on disembarkation day. We had misunderstood the time we needed to be out of our room by because our disembarkation was a later time. Our room steward literally barged into our room twice without knocking (once while I was changing) screaming at us to get out. I will never use Princess Cruises again. We were actually booked on a summer 2020 Norway cruise with Princess and we cancelled and booked on Holland America instead.
We can’t speak highly enough of Princess cruises. We have been on several trips with them now, both out of Southampton and the USA ports. Having now clocked up well over 20 cruises with various companies, Princess is a firm favourite for us. Cost wise they’re probably ‘middle of the road-ish’ here in the UK. They are certainly not amongst the cheapest, but for our money they are far superior to some of the more expensive cruise lines that we’ve tried. We’ve just returned from a Norwegian Fjords cruise on Sapphire Princess which holds approx 2600 guests. The ship is glamorous as all cruise ships are and in very good decorative order. We chose to eat in the International dining room at 8pm on second sitting. The menu was varied and the food of high quality. We did use the self service ‘Horizon Court’ restaurant a few times when coming back from shore trips. Again there was a huge variety of food, plenty of it and good helpful service. One of our party uses a walking stick and staff were always quick to carry his food to the table which was much appreciated. Our cabin was cleaned and hoovered thoroughly everyday and our bed turned down each night. There were live shows and various music venues throughout the ship every night and all to a high standard. You won’t be disappointed.
Great company, found princess very efficient and well organised service.
Wouldnt hesitate to go with them again.
Five stars for their service and staff +++++
Cruising Sydney to Hong Kong. Fabulous ship. Fabulous food. However, to our minds has become a booze cruise and eat as much as you can cruise. 75% of those on board obese and should be ashamed of themselves! Some aspects disappoint; plastic crockery in the buffet, no promenade deck that circumvents the ship, no proper internet that doesn’t cost a fortune ie A$30 pd (21st century and all that), expensive cover charges for the alternative restaurants (A$70 for two) & bottles of water simply a rip-off. Also a little disappointed with the shows - only one proper dance show in first 10 days, the rest been instrumental artists etc, a lack of talks (there was one this morning on Singapore but at 9am!) and not much info on destinations until the day of arrival. Probably our last cruise because the opulence is excessive and the encouragement of obesity distasteful. Well, overall if that is all we have to suffer, we are very fortunate to be on such a beautiful ship, passing through some wonderful locations. Finally, staff generally are fabulous, but did raise one issue, posting a comment card, but no response says it all........
