Review summary
Celebrity Cruises has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and quality, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
First time cruiser and made an error when I booked not realising that the cabin i chose had a connecting door.
Rang straight away to change cabin and was told it was a £50 per person charge.
Fortunately managed to do it on line for free.
Then requested 3 days after booking to transfer the reservation to a travel agent for better price and management. Was told this was only available within 2 days of booking and I was on day 3. Forums and website say 30 days !!
They reluctantly agreed to transfer to an agent but as a first time cruiser the whole experience has put me off Celebrity who appear to be nothing but money grabbers.
So disappointed in them.
Just got off Ascent - I want to go immediately back on board
This was my 9th ever cruise but my second cruise with celebrity. In an avid P&O cruiser but last year tried apex for the first time for a 4 day Cruise and booked ascent around Greece, Turkey and Malta. What an absolute incredible week, I want to go back on board immediately. The staff are just suburb, everyone is so friendly and the health protocols I.e washing signs before the Buffett are taken very seriously!!
The ship itself is gorgeous - I am an interior designer so I was in awe of the design, they have done a fantastic job!!
Counting down the weeks until I’m on Apex for 2 weeks Which I am super excited for! Once again celebrity is the best cruise line, hands down this has been my favourite cruise EVER, get me back on board now
Booked a guaranteed stateroom with a veranda. The one we were referred to was an infinity. We were allocated an obstructed view veranda with a porthole. To say we are fuming is an understatement! Clearly while they are auctioning off upgrades - they auctioned off our veranda cabin. Misleading customers.
Celebrity X Millennium.
We cruised with this cruise ship called Celebrity X Millennium in July 2025 around Japan this was the worst cruise ship we have ever cruised on it’s ready for the knackers yard it’s that old and worn, the food onboard was the worse quality of food we have ever tasted on a cruise ship no taste just very cheap quality, the entertainment was so poor absolutely rubbish, we was also ripped off by Celebrity X Cruises by selling us a Veranda Stateroom that turned out to be a partial view Veranda Stateroom with no apologies or any compensation absolutely disgusting service we have received from Celebrity X Cruises we would never ever cruise with Celebrity X Cruises again or ever recommend them so we would recommend not cruising with Celebrity X Cruise or cruise on the ship called Celebrity X Millennium.
Our Veranda Stateroom was 7023 on deck 7 don’t book this Veranda Stateroom unless you don’t mind a partial view with a massive steel column within the Veranda view but you will be charged as if the stateroom was a standard Veranda Stateroom with full clear scenic views mid-sold a standard Veranda Stateroom for a partial view stateroom and we have had absolutely disgusting customer service from Celebrity X Cruises.
We recently embarked upon the Alaskan Inside Passage Cruise with Celebrity Cruises, onboard the Celebrity Eclipse. This was our first cruise, and we were a little unsure of what to expect. My husband really wasn't keen on the idea of being confined to a boat, but the lure of Alaska managed to sway him.
We boarded the ship, which was beautiful, it was very modern, stylish and was spotlessly clean. We were pleasantly surprised to find our key outside our stateroom along with our luggage and the room made up ready for us. Again, we weren't sure what to expect but the room was far more spacious than we were ready for and had all the amenities we could need. The balcony was spacious too and there was free Wi-Fi available that although not very fast, was enough to use the Celebrity app, check emails or send basic messages.
Upon exploration we were delighted to find a range of shops, bars, restaurants, and entertainment options onboard. It’s really hard to explain the scale of the ship to someone who hasn't cruised, the best way I can describe it is as a floating village with everything you could need.
During our cruise the staff were brilliant, Prince our stateroom attendant always kept our room pristine and was so attentive and friendly, he was willing to go above and beyond to meet everyone’s needs. All staff we encountered on the ship from the cleaning staff to bar staff and restaurant workers who tirelessly keep things ticking like a military operation with smiles on their faces were exceptional. Nothing seemed to be too much to ask of anyone and they always went out their way to make sure we were having the time of our life.
The food onboard is excellent, the quality, freshness and diverse range of options is great, every dietary requirement and palate is catered for.
We tried to visit most areas of the ship but even on the last day we were still discovering new areas. The ship has so many activities for you to enjoy depending on your interests such as bingo, game shows, competitions, fitness classes, spa treatments, live musicians, art auctions etc. There was also a putting green on the top deck, an outdoor pool, basketball court, running track, an indoor solarium with heated pool and hot tubs, spa, a library, shops to meet your every desire, casino, art gallery, a coffee shop like Starbucks, restaurants to meet every craving and taste and so many bars to choose from that there was no opportunity to get bored.
Our favourite part of the ship was the theatre where we enjoyed a different show every night. The venue rivals some of the theatres we have visited in London and New York, with productions to entertain anyone. Genuinely you would be hard pushed not to enjoy yourself at any of the shows, from Broadway-style shows, to comedians, magicians, game shows, live music performances, acrobats and of course the humour of director Rich.
Rich is a consummate professional who knows his craft and has honed his skills over the years. He really knows how to get an audience going and leave you feeling like you've had a great night out. I will point out that some of his dad jokes were rough, but we loved them anyway. He is a very friendly, approachable character who made his way around the ship each and every night talking to guests and being on hand to answer any questions people had, he was very welcoming and is a great asset to this ship.
Particular recognition needs to go to Captain Leo who really is a people person. Leo took part in some of the shows including a game show and his dry humour was enough to hold up against the professional entertainers on stage. We attended captain Leo's talk on the navigation of a cruise ship which again was derived with poise in a way that had you captivated and entertained but never bored. I think the personal touches he delivers, speaking about his upbringing and passion for navigating are what makes him so endearing.
The captain is also responsible for one of the highlights of the trip where he expertly maneuverer the boat with pinpoint precision through the frozen waters to Hubbard’s Glacier. The ship never rocked but instead we got to what felt like touching distance of the natural marvel before turning 360 degrees to ensure everyone had the best views, this was no mean feat.
Celebrity Cruises have converted both of us to cruising in future and now my husband is looking to book our next cruise. Not bad for someone who had no interest in being stuck on a boat.
Celebrity offers a special service that is unique in this day and age, in that you feel really valued and that the staff really do care about making sure you have the best holiday possible.
Celebrity provided an exceptional first cruise experience for us that felt like a very personalised service. We will certainly be back on a Celebrity ship in the not too distant future.
Boarded Celebrity Edge today for a 7 day cruise around Spain, Italy and France. We have NO luggage, it has been put on a sister ship!!! Just been told that the earliest they can get it to us, despite it being their fault, is in 3 days time. We only have the clothes we stand up in! Been given a ‘comfort package’ of a toothbrush and toothpaste….and free laundry, but would take a full day to get anything back to us!! It would mean we would have NO clothes to wear during this time. At least another 8 couples are in the same position. How can that be taking responsibility for their error. Will never sail with Celebrity Cruises again!
Did the France, Italy, Spain Celebrity Edge cruise in June. Overall, it was a good cruise. I did not do the speciality dining but the buffet. The food was really good, especially someone like myself who eats very healthy, they had food for everyone IMO (including diabetics there was a lot of no sugar added deserts). The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was charged for a bag of chips in my mini-bar which I found odd because I don't eat chips and I was traveling solo. So maybe the cleaning lady was hungr and helped herself? I didn't even look to keep track. But they took it off my bill.
Celebrity should do a no single supplement promo (like Virgin Voyages does) as there is quite a few, not many who travel alone such as myself. Other than the that, the ship itself is very nice, a lot of attention to detail, nice areas to sit outside, always very clean. The furniture is very nice inside and out. A lot of attention to detail.
They had games ( Deal or No Deal), and brought back Bingo nights and the shows were good.
Bitterly disappointed by the attitude of Celebrity with our recent cruise booking via Iglu, although I acknowledge a derisory offer of a £100 discount from Iglu in consideration of our complaint.
At the time of booking we weren't advised that the particular Celebrity terms and conditions effectively limited our ability to make any amendment beyond an expensive upgrade.
Although we expressed our concern within a day of booking, a succession of agents passed our query back and forth with no promised callbacks prior to our raising a complaint.
There was no real advocacy on our behalf and I found both Iglu and Celebrity intransigent and opaque. Although we've had a positive experience with the latter before, this has been profoundly disappointing and unexpectedly expensive to resolve. We would therefore advise caution.
I called three times ahead of our cruise and attempted emailing their suggested email addresses on the website and app that somehow the name of my spouse was set to "Tbd Guest Two" despite having all her passport, credit card, Celebrity captains club #, and account added to the cruise months in advance. None of the offshore customer service representatives changed the name and their team never replied to my emails. In fact, I received an auto-response to my email stating that Celebrity will be in touch in "30 days."
We ended up waiting hours in a corner at the embarkation point while thousands of people boarded ahead of us. After 20+ cruises I've never had such an ignorant experience. Never again
Food was great 5 star hotel buffet
Service 5 star
On board shows 4 star
Great job to Nelson the sous chef,
I have worked in a lot of Hotels and cooking for this amount of people, you have my nod of approval
Trip was generally good, service at Qsine was not.
We were travelling as a party of 8, my family of 3 as well as a friend's family of 5. We had booked a table for 8 at Qsine well in advance of our sailing date, and it was confirmed without any issues. On Day 4 we agreed that we would meet at the restaurant for our dinner reservation. I suppose our mistake was not arriving at Qsine as one group. My mother and I arrived first and were seated. A short while later a service staff came over and told us they would be moving us to another table for 8 (the table we were first seated at was for 12). When we got up, the manager came over to say that apparently they had no tables for 8 and would have to split up our group into a table for 6-2. Almost at the same time, a group of 12 entered and sat at the table we had just vacated. Why would they accept a booking for 8 if they didn't have a table for 8? Why would they accept a booking for 8 as well as a booking for 12 on the same night if they knew one of the groups had to be separated? Surely they realise that when you make a reservation for a table for 8, you want to be seated together. Additionally, having arrived before the group of 12, to then be unceremoniously dumped at a smaller table for 2 without so much as a word of apology was incredibly disappointing and ruined the rest of night, which was unfortunate especially as the food was pretty good. I'd in particular like to call out the manager working that night - when I expressed my frustrations at the lack of management and the oversight and mentioned that I would most likely be writing about the experience, again, he offered no apology. The service by the other staff on the cruise and at the other restaurants was quite good, Qsine was the glaring exception of my trip.
We really enjoyed our recent cruise on the silhouette ship to Scandinavia. All the staff worked extremely hard keeping the ship clean. The bar staff and waiters were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There was a lot of choice of food. The entertainment was excellent and some very talented people. We enjoyed the excursions we went on and the guides were very knowledgeable. I was sad when our 12 day cruise came to an end. Would definitely book with celebrity again.
We did not enjoy our recent cruise with Celebrity Silouette. Our fist time cruising and definitely our last. The ship was mobbed. Understaffed at bars. Ocean view cafe the food was exactly the same at lunch and dinner every day. Did not enjoy the food at all. The staff did their best. Sea days were a nightmare as there wasn’t a bed available after 10am. So many people walking about for hours trying to find one.
Will never cruise again. If you decide to cruise don’t choose Celebrity you will be disappointed.
The cruise line will lie to you and rip you off if you decide to go on Celebrity. I have almost 20 cruises under my belt and decided to try Celebrity. Bad decision from the beginning. We booked the retreat and then decided that our son could go. We called the Retreat line and were told there was space on the shop but had to have the travel agent book him. When the agent called, we found out the ship had been red coded...no additional passengers were allowed on the ship in any room for any reason. They advised me to call every few weeks to find out if any spots were open. So we called several times and each time were told there were no additional open spots. On July 4, we called and were told there were spots open. My son quickly called his supervisor and got the time off work. I asked what the rate would be and the Celebrity agent could not tell us and said we have to have our TA call. He even took my son's name and DOB and then held the spot. My TA called and he was told again it was red-coded and no spots were available. Celebrity went through the notes with the TA from the previous conversation. This is now the second time Celebrity said there were spots and then there were no spots. I called the Retreat again and wanted to file a complaint for misleading and wrong information provided each time. They found a spot for my son to go but they wanted $3000 for the 3rd person. That is ridiculous. Unbelievable... If I decided to cancel my reservation it would be a 75% penalty even though they could then turn around and sell the room for double what we paid for it. I will never go on this cruise line again and I hate even going on this coming up one. I understand the penalty for canceling I don't understand the lying and the rip-off for the room. I hope everyone who reads this takes their business to Norwegian Cruise Line.
