Flies on the buffet food

Our stay was at Holme Lacey House near Hereford. One of the Warner Leisure hotels. We visited the market garden restaurant for breakfast and Dinner when we noticed that the buffet food on the centre stall underneath the skylight window was crawling with green-bottle flies, they were also crawling on the mirror behind our table. For this reason we avoided selecting food from this area so our choice of buffet was limited to hot food only. I believe this was wholly unacceptable and constituted a safety hazard that could have resulted in an illness. We have visited other Warner hotels so much so that we are platinum guests and have never experienced this before.

Perfect Stay

I have stayed at 13 of the Warner Sites. Most recently was my 6th stay at Heythrop Park, my favourite of them all. The sheer expanse of the place is breathtaking. With a choice of 3 superb restaurants to dine in and 2 entertainment venues to enjoy visiting acts or the in-house entertainment team, it is the perfect place for a break.

Deteriorating Warner service

Warner have brought in a policy of not servicing rooms the day after arrival. This is appalling. We pay a lot of money to stay at Warner, we should not have to do our own housekeeping. We are disgusted about this new policy.

This was the first stay at The…

This was the first stay at The Runneymede on Thames, we have stayed at many Warner's before. We were welcomed at the reception and given our keys. There is only one small lift which is suppose to hold 6 but when you get wheelchairs in there is not much room even for the carer. Food was not as good as he has been other times and the activities which are now charged for was not good either. Prices had gone up with drinks etc but there was now a service charge on drinks brought to your table. The entertainment was very good and the room was clean and tided each day. We have decided that this would be our last Warner's holiday as we cannot see things getting any betteer

Gunton Hall Unclean Accommodation

While I would rate the staff a full 5 stars for their friendliness and helpfulness, and the food variety and quality a solid 4 out of 5, the cleanliness of the accommodation was extremely disappointing—worthy of 0 stars. We had booked a four-night stay (Monday to Friday), but ended up leaving on Thursday morning after breakfast due to the condition of our room. Upon arrival, I had to go out and purchase cleaning supplies—bleach, sponges, scourers, and dusters—just to make the bathroom bearable. The shower tray still had hairs from the previous occupants, and it appeared the floor had only been given a cursory sweep. Carpets had visible buildup of dust, hairs, and dirt, and the sofa was stained, which was quite off-putting. I didn’t mind the dated furniture—that’s understandable for the hotel’s typical older demographic—but I did expect a much higher standard of cleanliness. Given the audience they cater to, hygiene should be a top priority. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

Warner care

I just want to say we have stayed with Warner a number of times and each time had. Good time, but during our last visit there was a misunderstanding clearly. Sadly the hotel could not resolve it at the time but did the following morning. It did distract from our stay a bit, we did make Warner aware on our return they could not of been nicer or more respectful and understanding. It truly did encourage to continue visiting the Warner hotels an we are already looking at were to stay next time.

Our stay at Warners Bembridge…

Our stay at Warners Hotel in Bembridge was approx. 3 years ago. Awful experience - dreadful food despite our pleasant and efficient waiter who actually advised us NOT what to order!! Despite complaining at the time and making it clear that we would not be booking again with Warners they continue to send brochures which are immediately put in the bin. From our experience certainly not worth the money.

Slipping standards

We recently spent a mid-week break at Nidd Hall and, whilst it was enjoyable, the standards have dropped. No room cleaning on the Tuesday "to allow us time to settle in" apparently. Settling in takes as long as unpacking the suitcase so that is nonsense. Get back to cleaning the rooms every day or you will lose our business and we've been visiting various Warner hotels twice a year for about 15 years. There was no Amaretto for my favourite cocktail until Thursday and then it was just a miniature bottle which was found in another bar. Outdoor activities now have to be paid for so we didn't do any and nor will we from now on, if we go again. We wanted to book another break for October but the only brochures available ended in June so we have nothing booked. We are willing to give them another chance as we like the adults only aspect, but things need to improve. On a positive side the entertainment was as good as ever and the in-house team work their socks off and earn every penny.

First class prices, 2nd Class service.

Recently returned from a weekend at Alvaston Hall. Was disgusted to find a notice in the room stating that the room will no longer be serviced daily. Apparently, to allow us "time to settle in" (their words) they would not service the room the day after we arrived and would refresh it from the second full day of the break. We could trail to reception and ask for top-ups of tea, coffee and towels but the bathroom and bedroom would not be cleaned. What exactly are we paying for because even smaller hotels make a point of servicing rooms daily? I also noted on the Entertainment Guide that Warners are now charging £8.50 for outdoor activities which used to be free. Due to this we opted out of doing archery which we had been looking forward to taking part in. I have heard that Warners are planning to build 3 new hotels so they're obviously doing lots of cost cutting whilst increasing their prices. So basically, guests are being ripped off and being offered a lower standard of break whilst being expected to pay much higher prices. I used to recommend Warners to my friends and family but I've now started advising them against booking anything with this company.

Good but not exceptional

Enjoyable stay at Holme Lacy, beautiful grounds and house We had a lovely room which was very clean Refurbished bathroom with walk in shower was great but the courtesy light was a little irritating at night. Food was ok, very average Ordered wine on first night which was just put on table, not even opened! Entertainment was good, staff worked hard It was an enjoyable stay, jury out as to whether we would go again as expensive.

We started coming to Warner hotels 4 years ago, they were very good value. Things have changed, the bottle of Prosecco in the room as gone, the prices have shot up, then from the 4thApril2025 they started to charge for activities such as archery, air rifle shooting and axe throwing - £8.50 each. They will price themselves out of business

Refund following a death

It has taken 4 phone calls following a death to receive money back from 1 of the 2 holidays we had booked. My mother in law has been on end of life for a month prior to her death. She had been due to go away in April. My father in law called to cancel the trip, to be told they need to speak to his wife as it was her name on the booking, so they went to the hospital to get his wife to call to cancel whilst on end of life, however this was not good enough for them to refund, they said they would cancel the holiday but will withhold the money until a doctors letter was provided. As if the NHS isnt busy enough, they were wanting us to get this all whilst dealing with a family member dying. Carol since passed away before a letter could be obtained. I called yesterday to be told it would now be a death certificate that needed to be produced to be issued a refund. My inlaws have travelled at 3 times a year for over 15 years on these holidays and the shear lack of empathy from this company is shocking. I still have another fight on my hands to get a refund of the next holiday they had booked for November and they have placed the money on hold. I have never known anything like it
