Flies on the buffet food

Our stay was at Holme Lacey House near Hereford. One of the Warner Leisure hotels. We visited the market garden restaurant for breakfast and Dinner when we noticed that the buffet food on the centre stall underneath the skylight window was crawling with green-bottle flies, they were also crawling on the mirror behind our table. For this reason we avoided selecting food from this area so our choice of buffet was limited to hot food only. I believe this was wholly unacceptable and constituted a safety hazard that could have resulted in an illness. We have visited other Warner hotels so much so that we are platinum guests and have never experienced this before.

Perfect Stay

I have stayed at 13 of the Warner Sites. Most recently was my 6th stay at Heythrop Park, my favourite of them all. The sheer expanse of the place is breathtaking. With a choice of 3 superb restaurants to dine in and 2 entertainment venues to enjoy visiting acts or the in-house entertainment team, it is the perfect place for a break.

Deteriorating Warner service

Warner have brought in a policy of not servicing rooms the day after arrival. This is appalling. We pay a lot of money to stay at Warner, we should not have to do our own housekeeping. We are disgusted about this new policy.

This was the first stay at The…

This was the first stay at The Runneymede on Thames, we have stayed at many Warner's before. We were welcomed at the reception and given our keys. There is only one small lift which is suppose to hold 6 but when you get wheelchairs in there is not much room even for the carer. Food was not as good as he has been other times and the activities which are now charged for was not good either. Prices had gone up with drinks etc but there was now a service charge on drinks brought to your table. The entertainment was very good and the room was clean and tided each day. We have decided that this would be our last Warner's holiday as we cannot see things getting any betteer

So many issues and so little concern or interest

Attempted to make a group booking for 22 people to celebrate a special birthday. To begin. We were sent between the venue (Haythorp) and the group booking team 5 times before we could get someone to take our deposit. Specifically requested a table or tables together for 22 people and was assured that would be arranged. Turned up on the first night at our allocated dinners slot to be told by restaurant staff they didn't know we were coming. Not a great start. 40 minutes later we are called in for dinner. A mix of tables spread out across the back of the restaurant is the totally unsuitable arrangement. So much for a group booking. I will add food was of good quality and plentiful. The staff did there best but it was never a birthday celebration as we should have been provided. Due to the late dinner fiasco we were unable to find seats for everyone at the music event which was already halfway through. So we gave up on that. There was no advice or information provided on pre-booking the on site activities. So when we tried to book on arrival we found most were fully booked. Probably the benefit of being a regular Warners visitor. On the Saturday there was a music quiz in the large theatre. When we arrived in plenty of time it had been moved to a bar area. This was a popular activity, probably as it didn't need to be booked in advance. Unfortunately they allocated one member of staff to attended to bar leading to a 30 minute wait to get served. And as the area was clearly not big enough for the numbers attending, 90% were left to stand for the duration. The Sports bar was clearly displaying there weekend deal on all the tables and on the bar counter. 20% off all drinks whilst the game is on. A great deal I thought but unfortunately non of the bar staff were aware or if they were they were not implementing it. I and others were effectively over charged. I brought this to the attention of the bar staff and received an blank expression. After speaking with the bar manager he refunded the amount I had been over charged. I can only assume everybody using the bar during the offer period were over charged that weekend. I have submitted these issues to the hotel and received a reply from a manager (Ryan Howe). And basically the lack of a group table must be down to our group booking table times individually. (That is not correct however would assume Mr Howe will have evidence he's claim, although none has been produced). No explanation why the two main music events are not clearly advertised as being on at the same time. The website leads you to believe you will be enjoying two main events on the Friday evening when that is not possible. Regarding the over crowded and staffed quiz. Mr Howe will give feedback. Not much use after the event and unless I go back I'll never know if he did. Strangely he made absolutely no mention of the lack of information regarding pre booking the on site activities. And even more concerning never addressed the overcharging that took place for the whole weekend. I can accept not everything is going to go perfectly, especially when it's a larger group. But the lack of concern when these issues are brought to your attention is just not acceptable.

Tired old Warner's

We have been going to Warner's now for over 20 years. In the early days it was fantastic; the food, entertainment (second to none), cleanliness & staff ( trained properly). Non-stop activities. Just returned from Alvaston for a Festival weekend. The acts were brilliant plus a D. J. in the afternoon & evening. No in-house entertainment which is becoming a bore. Everything has been taken away; snooker table, bowls' green, bingo, game shows. Now you have to wait till 9:15/30 for the main act to come on after the in-house band. The menu is so repetitive; Asian night, Indian night & Italian night plus the usual carvery. Desserts are all from the frozen range. The cleanliness is a bit to be desired. Room service is not provided daily any more. Unfortunately, standards have dropped dramatically. We have loved coming to Warner's but without us taking a pack of cards or a game it would be very boring. There is a pool table, but that's it! The drink's prices are extortionate. The poor waiting-on staff in the restaurant are meeting themselves coming back. Look out Warner's your cutbacks are too much.

Not For Visually impaired …

We stayed at Norton Grange Hotel and had a visually impaired person with us on our stay and the hotel did not really accommodate the visually impaired. Poor lighting in the dinning room and club area was dark and cold. Steps had no ambient lighting and entertainment was passable. Staff and food was great although on leaving there was no staff asking if you had enjoyed your stay.

Overall a poor experience at Thoresby…

Overall a poor experience at Thoresby Hall from 4/04/25 No toiletries in room but when I requested some 30 mins later knock on door and woman then just walked in with toiletries so no respect for privacy. Evening buffet (we’d asked for waiter service in other restaurant but it was full) was like a Butlins crowd (but no disrespect) to Butlins) and all food had to be taken on plate with no trays at all, and our table was long walk from buffet which my friend struggled with. My friend advised Warner when booking that she had mobility issue so her room was ground floor with patio However room was so far away from reception and patio was only screened by meter high privet with footpath on other side so no privacy to sit outside. Main issue that my friend has garlic allergy but in restaurant there was very little choice for meal as head chef confirmed even gravy, roast potatoes and roast beef had garlic 😱 My friend ended up having Prawn cocktail as main course and size of it was a starter. Warner head chef and hotel manager were full of apologies but did nothing to meet my friend’s request of no garlic Warner is sadly lacking effective communication and flexibility in meeting its customers needs The 3 of us who went will not be booking any further breaks with Warner. Poor value for money

ABBA - MONEY MONEY MONEY

FREE !! ARCHERY NOW £8.50 PER PERSON !! AN ABSOLUTE JOKE !! Normally three shoots of three arrows equates to virtually £1 per arrow. Better value at a funfair ? Group of 12 = £102, not a bad hourly rate ? Reason:- those reserving failing to turn up hence understandable. However why not charge just those that fail to attend and not those that reserve and attend. ALSO applies to the other FREE activities, i.e. rifle shooting and axe throwing. Our wedding anniversary stay in September now cancelled and will never return unless they re-consider their new charging structure. Yes Warners, as of today more than happy for you to keep my ten pound deposit.

Terrible pre-visit service

I haven't even been for my break yet and already I'm wishing I'd never booked anything with Warner Hotels. I'm waiting for refund of an overpayment because they didn't take off the deposit I'd already paid on my final bill. I just go into a black hole when I try to call and no one is taking any responsibility. As usual, it's someone else's fault. I just want my overpayment back please. Now. Group booking reference 5063919. This was supposed to be a celebration weekend but all I've had so far is stress.

Very good experience

Very good experience. Our Hotel reached our expectations. Food good not gourmet but taking into account the numbers eating within a short period of time was well up to standard

We have stayed at Warners lots of times…

We have stayed at Warners lots of times and are/were generally really pleased with the breaks we have had and always made the most of the activities provided. However, on 30th March we booked another break for May 2025 to find out AFTER we had booked that they are now charging for archery, rifle shooting and axe throwing. This will be £8.50 per person, per activity. There was no mention of this at the time of booking and it wasn’t until I logged into my Warner stay that I saw there was going to be a charge from 4th April. I immediately called Warners to be told that anyone that had already booked their activities they will be free but if you hadn’t yet booked they will be charged. Very sneaky of Warners as they hadn’t put any activities on my Warner stay to enable me to pre-book so therefore a charge will be inevitable. Considering we had already paid extra to upgrade the room (£60 balcony & £45 garden view) and also paid £60 extra for Warner protection, this new charge is a ridiculous and unfair expense. We shall make the most of the limited free options that are still available for this break but this sadly will be our last. I’m sure they will lose a lot of repeat bookings from other customers through this.
