I took out an annual policy for holiday insurance. I declared pre-exisiting medical conditions etc. Just over 4 weeks later I received an update on a previously declared medical condition from the Consultant, which reversed the original diagnosis and withdrew the associated medication (one being Statins). As Saga Policy dictates that any changes are notified I contacted them with the news. Just as I would expect an increase in cost if something new was diagnosed, I had (wrongly) hoped for a refund of partial cost in light that this declared condition was not a condition at all, and as such reduced the liability of insurance. Bear in mind, this is just 2 weeks after the cooling off period and before any travel had taken place. No refund was offered, no future refund was offered, I was told that "no refund is going to happen", not even as a good will gesture. This did not seem fair, so for further clarity I raised a complaint. The complaint was closed without any contact from the Complaints Department. The outcome is that I will not use Saga again, they have lost any future business that would have gone their way (car, house etc.). The only reason they get 1 star is due to the advisor that I dealt with. Lack of flexibility and good gesture in approaching this means I will not go back to Saga.
