Really good gym in Chesterfield, great staff, classes and cafe. A bit dated equipment now but acceptable!

I wouldn’t recommend this centre in Stockley Park for families with children or for anyone considering buying a membership for family use. The soft play area has been broken for several months now, an... See more

## A Symphony of Suffering at Nuffield Canary Wharf: My Quest for Gym-Induced Zen (Or Lack Thereof) Let me preface this by saying I adore the gym. It's my sanctuary, my happy place, my… well, it *should* be. A place where I can transcend the daily grind, commune with the iron, and emerge feeling invigorated, not violated. And for the most part, Nuffield Canary Wharf has the *potential* to be that place. The equipment is decent, the facilities are clean (most of the time), and the location is undeniably convenient. But there's a dark cloud hanging over this otherwise promising fitness haven, a sonic torment that transforms my workout from a meditative experience into something akin to a psychological experiment gone wrong: the music. Oh, the music. Where do I even begin? It's not just loud. It's not just bad. It's a carefully curated playlist designed, I suspect, by a committee of tone-deaf squirrels with a penchant for early 2000s pop anthems and the kind of generic dance music that makes you question the very fabric of reality. Imagine the soundtrack to a particularly chaotic teen disco, amplified to the point of pain, and then pumped directly into your eardrums for the duration of your workout. That's the Nuffield Canary Wharf experience. Now, I'm not some grumpy old Luddite who hates all music. I have a rather eclectic taste myself. But this… this is an assault on the senses. It’s so loud that my noise-cancelling headphones – the ones that usually cocoon me in a blissful bubble of my own carefully curated workout soundtrack – are rendered utterly useless. They become mere fashion accessories, clinging desperately to my ears while the sonic tsunami washes over them. I've tried everything. Metal, classical, whale song – nothing can penetrate the wall of sound that emanates from the gym's speakers. It's like trying to whisper sweet nothings during a rock concert. And the truly baffling thing? Look around. Ninety-nine percent of the members are wearing headphones. *Ninety-nine percent*. This isn't a scientific study, just a casual observation, but it speaks volumes (pun intended). It screams, in unison, "Nuffield, nobody wants to listen to your music!" We're paying a premium for this membership, and in return, we're being subjected to a daily aural onslaught. It's like paying for a massage and then being tickled relentlessly for an hour. Sure, it’s *technically* an experience, but it’s not exactly what you signed up for. So, Nuffield Canary Wharf, I implore you: Consider the plight of your headphone-wearing members. Consider the concept of "peace and quiet" during a workout. Consider, perhaps, the possibility that not everyone shares the musical tastes of your resident DJ (whoever they may be). Give us the option. Create a "quiet zone." Or, dare I suggest, *turn the music down*. Just a little. Please. Before we all collectively develop tinnitus. My sanity, and the sanity of my fellow gym-goers, depends on it.
Shannon removed my staples today I must say what a lovely and caring young lady she is
They don’t keep their doctors’ records straight. Spent 15 minutes on the phone booking appointment with someone who turns out to see only children and at no point anyone thought to mention that.
Just been into Nuffield Cheltenham for the third time for surgery. Every time i visit I am impressed, this is the best hospital to have treatment in. The level if care, professionalism and efficiency is exceptional. I would particularly like to thank John, Jerome, Jason, Owen, Rita, Debbie and Claire for looking after me. You guys are all doing an excellent job. Steven Young
Very Disappointing Experience—Company Only Focused on Money After my previous review and feedback, I am saddened to say that my concerns have still not been addressed. Instead of offering a solution or even acknowledging my dissatisfaction, all I’ve received is an email simply chasing the final month payment. Despite my response, no one has bothered to get back to me or resolve any of the issues I raised. It's incredibly clear that, at this point, the company is only interested in collecting money, with no real care for customer experience or addressing concerns. This level of customer service is extremely disappointing, and it’s unfortunate that my experience has only worsened since raising my concerns. It feels like the company values money far more than the well-being or satisfaction of its members. I would advise anyone considering this gym to think carefully before committing, as it seems clear that, once you're a member, your concerns will be ignored, and the focus will only be on getting your payment.
Don’t join this gym if you are a young family. The pool is always cold, the changing rooms are freezing and you’re basically made to feel like a criminal if you’re in the water with your child. Don’t let the nursery fool you (although the staff here are lovely), this is not a family-friendly gym.
Wisdom teeth removal at Nuffield Hospital Guildford. Surgeon Prof Piet Haers. Painless, easy procedure. I was off painkillers within a day, and the sockets healed quickly. I had heard so many stories about wisdom teeth extraction that I was prepared for a hard recovery, but this was superbly done.
Great and thorough care from Admission to Discharge. Each member of every team ,(desk/nursing/catering/anaesthetist/physio...) were efficient, welcoming and caring. A very calm and professional experience
I found there was great customer service being represented at Kingston Nuffield gym. My experience with the employers was very helpful. It Has high-quality equipment and found that the pool was clean. Do recommend!
Save your money and go elsewhere! Very tired and old gym with antiquated equipment , truly not worth the extortionate monthly subscription price. The changing rooms and are always dirty and frequently have a bad smell. Staff and generally unhelpful. The car park is hardly ever open. Opening times are quite restrictive, closing early on weekends. Save your money and go elsewhere, you can pay a fraction of the price at pure gym and get more modern equipment, a cleaner gym and 24/7 availability.
If I could visit myself about a year ago, facing up to the fact that I required this procedure at the age of 51, I would have said it is going to go brilliantly well, at a brilliant site, surrounded by professional staff and to not worry about it - not that I was worried or anxious beforehand, because I was aware of Nuffield Health before my procedure, and knew I was very fortunate to be under their care for this procedure. Many thanks to them all - they were as much a part of my experience, as the actual procedure was.
I recently stayed in The Nuffield for a Hip Replacement Operation. From the moment of my consultation to the day I came home following my procedure I was put at ease and made to feel comfortable by the staff and my consultant. The whole hospital is kept extremely clean, as are your private rooms. Each room has its own bathroom. Staff are amazing, so very friendly and knowledgeable about the procedure you are having, they check on you regularly, even through the night, they talk you through all the medication you are being given and why. You never feel like you are there on your own, always someone popping in. Visiting hours are great... 9am to 9pm so you can have visitors all day... Food menu is very good, good variety and selection to suit every one, only downside you have to take your own snacks, you can't buy them there. The care team and nurses introduce them selves at the beginning of each shift and nothing is too much for anyone of them... I was there for 3 nights as they will not let you home until they are fully sure that you are well enough, and fit enough to do be discharged.... Overall, you get the best care and get treated like an individual, not a number....
The staff and level of care were excellent. However I did not expect to have food poisoning in a hospital! The day after my operation I chose a fish pie from the menu. It was definitely off and tasted foul. After only a few mouthfuls I was violently sick and was unable to stomach anything else to eat for the rest of my stay.
I had never been in the Nuffield at Chichester for any treatment before and it was first class in terms of service and facilities. The treatment I received as a day patient was exceptional and I am very gratful to Dr Husband and the nursing team for my procedure
Overall my hospitalisation was a very positive experience at the Nuffield, Chester. Staff, from consultant down were all excellent, save that I was pushed too hard by physios.
Updated: Thanks for replying my review. I fully understand and appreciate your closing time but just feel pushed in a cold and disrespectful manner. Hope this could get conveyed. Original: I recently became a member of Nuffield gym. All were really good until a recent experience at Ealing gym. Since I’m a new member, I didn’t realise the weekend closing time is 8pm instead 10pm as normal weekdays. I was late in the gym for 15min for a shower, however, a stuff came 3 times in the female changing room questioning me with very aggressive attitude. “You are already here for extra 20min, all the stuff are upstairs waiting for you” She said this when I was changing. (though it was only 15min even when I stepped out the gym) I completely understand that’s a Saturday and everyone was in a rush back home. But I dont think anyone deserves such bad attitude plus ignorance of client’s privacy. I only rate Nuffield gym for this very disturbing experience.
For the last 4 years, I had trouble with my right shoulder. Having changed job to use it less and done some physio following an Xray from my GP, nothing had really changed. By using Nuffield Health, the process was very quick, Dr Neil Blewitt specialised with Shoulder, sent me for a MRI. 10 days later we took the decision to operate. So far so good.
Had knee surgery via Nuffield Chesterfield in Bristol. Exceptional service from all staff including catering. Professional, polite, helpful. Everyone can't do enough for you. Thank you for making the surgery, recovery and stay so much more bareable.
Unfortunately, our family has encountered several issues trying to enjoy the facilities at the gym. For reasons that were not communicated to us, the gym manager decided that children aged 8 are no longer allowed to use the crèche service. We were not informed of this change and continued to book the space at reception as we normally would. The following week, when we arrived to drop off our daughter, the crèche manager confronted us in front of her and other parents, stating that she was no longer welcome. The situation was both embarrassing and upsetting, as it felt like we were being accused of wrongdoing when we had simply followed the usual process. After this incident, we attempted to bring our daughter with us to the gym while we trained, but she was asked to leave the space, which left her in tears and deeply embarrassed. When we approached the gym manager to ask what options were available for our daughter while we attended classes, we were shocked by the response: we were told we could leave her alone in the reception area—an open space accessible to anyone. As a family-oriented gym, this approach is not only unacceptable but also raises serious concerns about child safety and customer care. If you’re a family considering joining a gym in the Warwick area, I would strongly advise against Nuffield. We sincerely hope a competitor will step in to offer a more family-friendly and professional service. This experience has been extremely disappointing, and our daughter is still feeling very upset. No family should have to go through this kind of treatment.
