Review summary

Mr. Rooter Plumbing receives a mixed reception from customers, with a significant number expressing dissatisfaction. While some reviewers highlight excellent service from specific technicians, such as Kyle and Lou, who are praised for their professionalism and promptness, many others report serious issues. Common complaints include poor quality work that leads to water damage, misleading pricing, and unprofessional behavior. Customers express frustration over high fees and non-refundable deposits, with some feeling that the service did not meet expectations or was excessively costly. Despite a few positive experiences, the overwhelming sentiment points to a lack of reliability and accountability. Overall, Mr. Rooter Plumbing struggles to maintain a positive reputation among its clientele.

Never Again!!!

We have been customers of Mr Rooter Plumbing for some time and have always received good service at a fair price: until today. We were charged more the $700 to replace a kitchen faucet, not including the cost of the faucet. This was shameless gouging on their part. We paid because we had little choice but Mr. Rooter, that was the last $700 you will see from us!

Too Expensive

Had a couple plumbing problems. 1 major and 1 minor problem. When given the quotes to fix, it was way to expensive. The guy told me how to fix the minor problem problem and all it was, was to use a wrench and unscrew and replace the water shut off by the toilet and that's it. Im not a plumber so I just asked for a quote for something that seemed it would take no more than an hour to fix. The quote was almost $700. That's the last time i call Mr. Rooter

FRUSTRATED!

We contacted this company late Friday night due to a leak in our ceiling. They sent someone out Saturday morning, which we appreciated. We were told it would be a free estimate. At that point, the leak had stopped and the water damage was minimal. Before doing anything, the technician charged us $330 just to diagnose the issue—which took less than five minutes. It turned out to be a faulty drain plug in the bathtub. He then tore a hole in our ceiling and left a mess behind. We were charged another $220 (after a supposed $150 discount) for the repair. He went to Home Depot instead of the nearby Lowe’s and bought the cheapest part available, which wasn’t even compatible with our original setup and made bath time harder for our daughter. The part cost $35.00 but our total bill came to $600. Very disappointing, especially after being told the estimate was free. We were then told an inspector would call before coming out. No call—he just showed up. He didn’t have the proper tools to assess the damage but still quoted us $1,000–$3,000 to remove any water damage and we would still need someone else to come out and repair the wall. He also told us to pay our deductible directly to them so they could contact our insurance agent. That’s not how insurance claims work, and it felt pushy and misleading. Since then, we’ve called three times to speak with a manager. The call center and dispatcher said they sent emails. We also left two voicemails with the office. No response. Not a single follow-up. The only positive was how quickly they arrived. Beyond that, the experience was unprofessional, overpriced, and deeply frustrating. We’re left wondering if we were scammed.

Huge bill for a easy job

I’m writing this review with mixed feelings about the recent work performed by Mr. Rooter at my home. The issue was a leak in the kitchen sink drain pipe. The technician, Ali, addressed the problem by removing approximately one meter of corroded copper pipe and replacing it with PVC piping and rubber connectors. This was intended as a temporary emergency fix until I can replace the entire copper drain system with PVC. The repair itself was relatively straightforward. It involved cutting into the drywall ceiling below the sink to locate the leak, removing the damaged section of pipe, and installing the replacement. The entire process took about two hours from Ali’s arrival to departure. What left me disappointed was the cost. The final bill came to nearly $2,000, despite the parts being worth around $100 and the labor being minimal. Although I agreed to the quote after the diagnostic and drywall opening—initially estimated at around $300—I was under the impression that the job would be more time-consuming and complex. That misunderstanding was partly my fault for not asking more questions, but I still felt blindsided by the final cost. After the work was completed, I felt more like a victim than a valued customer. The pricing structure felt predatory, and the experience left a sour taste. I contacted the manager of the North York franchise the next day—Fred, if I recall correctly—and he was professional and courteous. He offered a $300 reduction to help resolve the issue, bringing the total to about $1,700. Unfortunately, I still have additional work ahead: replacing the rest of the copper drain pipe, patching the drywall holes, and repainting the ceiling. While the repair was effective, the overall experience was disappointing due to the cost and lack of transparency.

“Free” service call by Mr. Rooter Plumbing

We called Mr. Rooter Plumbing because our water heater pilot wouldn’t stay lit. After doing some research, I figured it was probably the igniter or thermocouple, but I didn’t want to mess with it myself. My wife scheduled a free service call, knowing of course there would be a catch. The next day, a tech named Tom (goes by “Tommy”) showed up. Within 5 minutes of looking at the unit, he told us the entire water heater had to be replaced—for $2,500. On top of that, he claimed the pan and placement didn’t meet code and insisted it needed to be reinstalled 18 inches off the ground, which would cost another $2,000. That’s a total of $4,300 plus tax. When my wife called me to discuss, I tried speaking with him directly, but he constantly talked over me and wouldn’t listen. That was enough for me; I told him thanks but we’ll be taking our business elsewhere. We ended up ordering a brand-new water heater through Home Depot. With installation by Fast Water Heater, it cost us $1,800 plus tax. It was done the next day, and everything passed city code exactly where the old one sat. I don’t think everyone at Mr. Rooter operates like Mr Tommy, but my experience felt like a sales pitch disguised as a service call. Instead of actually diagnosing the issue, it was straight to an overpriced replacement and scare tactics about code compliance. The customer service was rude, and the upselling was not ethical. Do yourself a favor and get quotes from other vendors before signing with Mr. Rooter.

Disappointing experience

I originally gave Mr Rooter a very favorable recommendation as their price was so much better than the other providers I checked with. However, since hiring them to pull our toilet and unclog the drain our toilet's water supply line has developed a slow leak for which we cannot find any resolution from Mr. Rooter. We have rearranged our work schedules on three separate occasions for appointments they scheduled, but never showed or phoned to cancel with us. I have made numerous calls to speak with a field manager and have yet to hear from anyone. This experience has been going on for over a month. So disappointed with my experience with Mr Rooter.

Mr. Rooter's Mess

Chris Carr was efficient as far as testing my water for hardness, and finding things he could improve on plumbing-wise. He is a vivacious salesperson. However, I am not happy with him removing the main shutoff to my house- the only access I had - without telling me in advance. He left for about 45 minutes, leaving the water off, and removed my water softener I paid over $500 for, and at the same time decided himself to remove the shutoff valve, which was not very old. He said it "wasn't really working anyway, letting a trickle through". Why wasn't I consulted on something I was paying for, on MY HOUSE? I am the owner of the house. In addition, Chris left a big mess at the end of my driveway. He left the water softener on the moving truck, and it tipped over, spilling salt at the end of my driveway. A pile of salt that melted halfway down the street across from my house, and it's still there 3 days later. I am having an open house this weekend to sell it, with salt on the driveway and ditch. Something is wrong with how this was done.

Mr Rooter company uses a call center to…

Mr Rooter company uses a call center to pass on messages. My complaints are about the call center. My water heater needed to be replaced under warranty and Reem said we needed same company who put in 5 years ago. Very first call, they did fine. Got a service tech up here within 3 hours. After that service went down hill. Needed to talk with tech or manager in Colorado Springs. They said they’d post call as urgent. Didn’t happen. Next call I asked for direct number to Springs office, the gal said she was the person in the springs… told me she’d pass my info on. That was all last week. Today 7-28-25 I called and yelled at the call center gal. Finally a half hour later I got a call from the manager in the Springs. Got all details resolved and my water heater will be replaced on Wednesday. Those people in the call center need serious training or get fired.

Colorado Springs Plumber - Mr Rooter

I’m writing regarding the recent sewer line work performed at our property in Colorado Springs, supervised by Zach Croley with Mr Rooter. The overall process quickly became problematic, costly, poorly managed, and they sell you on 'scare' tactics with no honesty. After removing a toilet for a camera inspection revealed a blockage possibly caused by a branch, we were quoted $7,800 for replacement. Under pressure and uneducated in the world of plumbing, we agreed to a “discounted” $6,800 rate and immediate start. The crew immediately dug about 15 feet down to access the pipe to replace, hitting our underground electric AND the well water line. This could have been avoided with proper utility flagging and communication, which was never done, and is illegal come to find out! Compounding the issue, we later learned from a second opinion (Dan’s Drains & Diggs) that the same job could have been done using a trenchless liner system with zero landscaping damage. That company also identified a missed cleanout and septic access point, that Mr Rooter completely overlooked – there was no need to remove a toilet in the 1st place and could have unclogged the drain using this access point. What’s more concerning is that Zach initially said our remaining line to the house looked fine, only to later push a $4,500 CIPP lining add-on for just 4 more feet—raising the total to over $11,000. No evidence of old 'Orangeburg' pipe was shown to us, and we now question whether that additional replacement was even necessary, or actually, any of the work! We had to bring in our own well company to properly repair the water and electrical lines they damaged! Our yard, railroad ties, underground electrical cord, and landscaping retaining wall has been left in need of major damage with quotes over 10k to repair, creating water drainage / flooding issues, at our expense. The tree next to the retaining wall now has root damage, and might have to be removed too. I will report them to the BBB and any other entities for their shoddy services. PLEASE do your homework and read these 1 star reviews before you are soon writing your own 1 star review. And watch how they reply to my review (they might say ’We don’t recognize your name in our system’..or ‘We cannot find your address in our system’..WOW...how can I make this up?? So sad we have such con artists within our own community here in Colorado Springs that are still in business.

I paid out 80K to have the sewer lines and screwed

I paid out 80K to have the sewer lines redone in the building. Project started over 8 months ago and now that I have everything in order and ready to finish they are NOT going to reinstall anything so I now have to pay another company to come and complete this project. I have never worked with a company that has been such a fight to get things done. I have to wonder if the city inspections was done properly before they back filled everything. Devin Hammock is the worse person to ever try and get things scheduled as he will never return calls emails nothing. This company will never come in the building ever again and I will never refer them to anyone ever. biggest POS company I ever done work with. Hope you go broke real soon so others don't have to fight this issue. I would give them less then 1 star if this system would let me. USLESS

$827.00 to replace a basic faucet

Mr Rooter charged me $827.00 to replace a kitchen faucet! This particular Delta faucet, retail’s for $225.00 on Delta’s website. Normally I would have replaced the faucet myself, but I am now in my seventies and have a hard time getting down under the sink. The installation took less than thirty minutes. I called the Customer Service Manager to give him an opportunity to explain the excessive cost. He listened to my complaint, but basically just said that’s what they charge. I feel like I just got mugged! I don’t plan to use them in the future.

Take advantage of Elder

Our family recently had a distressing experience with this plumbing company, which overcharged my elderly mother. For a relatively simple plumbing job in her basement, the company overcharged her by $3,900. When I tried to resolve this issue, management was elusive, avoiding direct communication. The only response I received was an unprofessional email from management that was dismissive and insulting. Worse still, they contacted my mother again, causing her discomfort and pressuring her into saying everything was okay. This behavior was completely unacceptable. This company's actions reveal a complete disregard for customer service, as they seem more focused on exploiting their clients financially. If you're looking for ethical and compassionate service, steer clear of this business. Their priority is profit, and they're willing to place vulnerable individuals into debt without a second thought. For the sake of your peace of mind and your finances, keep your distance from this company!

A Rip-off Plumber if There Ever Was One

I called with a plugged toilet and they came and got it working but then showed me pictures of tree roots that were inside the pipe and that it would cost over $6000 and they were going to dig under a pipe and all sorts of other crap. On Tuesday I had to cancel and let the park's plumber fix the problem with the roots; well he took the toilet bowl off, used a tool called a K60 to rip out the roots and he was done in about an hour. These people are a rip-off, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE OR GET CHEATED. I forgot to mention the company you want is Rinaldi's.

I was hopeful going into this…

I was hopeful going into this appointment. I scheduled service for Friday, April 18, between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM and cleared my calendar to be available. That morning, I received several calls starting around 8:00 AM asking if I could take an earlier appointment — I wasn’t available, so I didn’t answer. I assumed they’d still come during the scheduled window. When I hadn’t heard anything by early afternoon, I ended up calling to check in — only to find out the appointment had been canceled without my knowledge. Later, two technicians were sent out anyway and arrived last minute, around 2:30 PM, staying until nearly 5:00 PM. This disrupted my workday and caused a lot of unnecessary stress. They completed the work — unclogging my bathroom sink and installing a lavatory faucet — but the final cost was $1,100, which felt excessive for the services provided. On top of that, they called my workplace without my permission, which crossed a line for me. The technicians themselves were courteous and efficient, but the lack of communication, the scheduling confusion, and the high price made this a frustrating experience. I hope the company takes this kind of feedback seriously to improve how they handle appointments and customer communication.

Not sure if it was blatant forgery or a sneaky iPad invoice trick, but my "signature" on the bill locked me into a $500+ charge for 15 minutes of work—way more than the work order I signed. VISA wouldn’t budge. Now I’m on a mission to expose this scam. Don’t trust those fake reviews—Mr. Rooter Kamloops is a ripoff, no chance they’re highly rated!

I would give a zero if possible

I would give a zero if possible. Horrible Company! DO NOT USE! Way Over charged for repair of water in my basement. $6000. Said there was a break in the cast iron pipe under my laundry room floor. Sent an apprentice plumber who didn't know what he was doing. Pipes didn't even line up after he was done. Tried to tell him how to adjust it but wouldn't listen & caused 2 additional leaks. Here 12 hrs. Had to send out a journeyman plumber to FIX it all. Another 12 hrs. After concrete dried they sent another 'plumber' to reset the toilet, but when the journeyman came to fix the 2 leaks they caused, found that the bolts were not even attached to the flange. So another 3 hrs 8:13pm to 11:50 at night to fix again. Such a waste of my time. After all this I still had the original problem. So he looked at the cleanout outside the house & saw water. Sent a camera man out, found & cleared what they called a "soft clog" out by my sidewalk. Then, lo & behold that was my only problem!! Very unethical & unreliable. Incompetence of both office & workers. Didn't return calls. Kept getting schedules mixed up. Failed on every level. Will tell you all kinds of things that are wrong just to make money. WOW a lot of negative reviews on YELP, Trustpilot and Birdeye. Should have looked further because don't know how their site shows better ratings. Consumer Beware! It was an awful experience all around.

Prompt, excellent, and cleaned up.

Well I don’t use google or facebook. Would like to say that Reyes and Jordan in Albuquerque provided excellent and prompt service today to unclog a plugged drain line we have been struggling with for weeks. Made time the same day we called, were clear on what it would cost, finished the job successfully, cleaned up and told us it was guaranteed for 30 days. Perfect.
