Life stance only wants your money

Life stance only wants your money. They have charged me to fill out the paperwork and have provided no service. They entered my email address wrong so I had to spend hours on the phone getting that fixed. They blamed me for it when I didn’t get the emails. Just to be billed for me filling out the paperwork.

I have had nothing but problems with…

I have had nothing but problems with this company. The therapists did not help me; in fact, they made things worse. I was in an abusive marriage, and the therapists did not offer any homework. My ex had a sex addiction, and I was told that I should send him provocative pictures of myself because his addiction was my fault. They are a joke, and their therapists are a joke. I would not recommend them.

Our family has had excellent therapy here with Tim O’Brien and Meg Chromey for over 7 years. Crystal Garrison has been a very good medication manager, as well.

I should’ve listened to all the…

I should’ve listened to all the comments. The customer service is brain dead. Asked for my date of birth on intake, then cancelled my appointment a day before due to the therapist’s age restrictions. I did not request that particular therapist, they assigned me to them. If the therapist has a literal restriction, why wouldn’t they consider that? The second customer service rep that answered the phone when I went to reschedule sounded inconvenienced and rude for no reason. Don’t waste your time with this garbage.

My initial experience hasn't been all that promising

My initial experience hasn't been all that great. Hard to get a hold of someone on the phone. Searching for a provider (a therapist to work with) isn't the easiest on their site, as I didn't find a way to add a Filter so that I'd ONLY see those people who accepted my insurance. As a result, you have to go through and check each provider/therapist profile, one by one, to see IF they accept your insurance. Also, there were some providers I thought I might want to work with, and so I'd click on 'Schedule an appointment', only to then see a pop-up of 'this provider has no upcoming availability'. (What does that mean exactly? ...no availability for the next few weeks? Or not accepting ANY new patients?? On the day of my first scheduled appt., I dialed-in, only for the provider to say 'actually, we cannot have a session today because you didn't fill out the online intake forms.' I said 'I actually tried to do so, and contacted Lifestance to say I was having issues accessing the forms, and no one ever got back to me.' (And, how is it that my own therapist didn't flag this fact, and sooner? So I set aside time to meet with her, and it was only AT the time of our session, that I'm told 'oh, actually, we cannot meet right now...we'll have to reschedule, and once you complete the forms...'?? Also, as others here have mentioned, my first appointment included lots of additional 'intake' questions (even though I'd already and finally been able to complete a lengthy 'intake' questionnaire on their website, before my first appointment). I'm not sure if it's across the board with Lifestance, or if it were particular to my particular provider (and her areas of expertise) but I got the strong sense that Lifestance and/or my particular provider work with people who have more serious issues going on in their lives...who may experience abuse, or use drugs/alcohol, be suicidal etc. I say this because, after my answering all the questions my provider posed to me, about how I've been feeling, etc., she said towards the end of the call, 'OK, based upon my assessment, on a scale of 1-10 you are a '2' for anxiety and depression' (...the implication mainly being that I don't really need any help...that I don't really have any issues). It all felt very robotic and formulaic. I thought to myself 'I'm sorry...I thought that if any one of us feels like some talk therapy would be good for us, that we should have the option to decide if we want to talk to someone... and that the insurance that we PAY to have, should afford us that opportunity?' But it was as if Lifestance as a whole, and/or the particular therapist, do everything according to a literal manual, complete with a check-off list. I'd mentioned to my therapist how I've been feeling very 'ADD'...easily distracted...have a hard time completing things on my to-do list, and that this fact bothers me. She mentioned, towards the end of the call, that during future sessions, she could help me with relaxation techniques, breathing exercises journaling, creating to-do lists and building in breaks so that my to-do list doesn't seem so overwhelming, etc. And all I could think was 'do you think I don't already know all those tricks?? Don't you know that all that type of advices and how-to's can be readily found elsewhere online? I came to Lifestance because I need help in understanding why I'm having a hard time doing this on my own...why, even though I intellectually know better...I know all the healthy habits I should be trying to employ...why I'm still not doing those habits..." I'm going to try out a different provider/therapist at Lifestance and see if that goes any better.

Scam

Told the scheduler exactly what I needed (a psychiatrist or psychologist to write a WPATH letter pre surgery). Turned up to the appointment that was scheduled with a psychiatric nurse who had no idea what a WPATH letter is. Left two voicemails and two emails both went unanswered at corporate. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Still had to pay $20 for nothing.

Lifestance sucks

They ask you to arrive 15 min before your scheduled appointment. They Call the day before to remind you to arrive 15 min early just to have you waiting outside until your appointment time the doors were locked even. Also I specifically wanted to do group dbt therapy went through the entire “assessment” only for her to say she does cbt individual therapy I found it a big waste of time and she did a lot of smirking which infuriated me. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I was charged a 100$ no show fee because I had to cancel my daughter's appointment for a Tuesday on a Monday due to her being placed into a psychiatric program. Their policy is that you have to cancel 48 hours, no grace given. They also charged my credit card for the full amount of her appointments and then charged her insurance and got all of the money from the insurance company but I had to call them a month later and request the refund. Of course that refund is minus the 100$ missed appointment fee. Now I am waiting for my refund to be approved and processed.

If I could give a 0

If I could give a 0, I would. I am beyond upset, this company allowed me to fill out a accessment online, including my insurance. I have talked to correspond with more than 1 person about filling out documents, email, phone calls. When someone would call me from the office no one made me aware of my insurance because everything was approved online. I think I inquired about their services on Sunday August 11, online. So the process started from there and I was assigned a person according to my accessment and a time& date. The day of my appointment probably 5 mins before my appointment I get a phone call that they are unable to provide services to me because my secondary insurance is out of network!!! I said but my first insurance is in network and will pay for the services. She said unfortunately the company policy will not accept it. I know it is not her fault, but I told her I have been responding to emails, text, and phone calls and no one was aware of this but you? I said I am very angry disappointed and the company is very unprofessional in how they handle their clients. I am beyond appalled.! I will never recommend this business to no one in need of mental health, just UNBELIEVABLE!

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Puts money over people. Dishonest and deceptive buisness practices. Pushing medication on people who do not want it. This place needs to be shut down. They abuse the mental health system. Will never recommend this company to anyone. They will cause you more trauma then what you came in with. All of the lawsuits they are in is alarming. Their karma will come and I hope this place gets shut down for the betterment of everyone. Most disgusting company I have ever experienced.

Tell People the Truth- This Place is an Absolute Joke

I'm convinced this is an organization for all the reject psychologists and therapists out there. This is the exact kind of place that makes people NOT want to ever get mental health help. I don't even care if this is harsh because people deserve to know how poorly this place operates. They will bill you incorrectly, cancel your appointments day of, and I kid you not- I cycled through FOUR separate providers for medication management and not one of them could show competency in their ability to do their job. Not one of them could advise on what to do for side effect management of meds, they carelessly will advise you to INCREASE your dose at the slightest mention of an inconvenience in your life, and they will not talk to you about what physical side effects to expect. If you want any advice for anything, be prepared for the old "that happens sometimes" answer. The first provider I had even made fun of my hair on a video call. If you book an appointment, be prepared to be disappointed and frustrated. One time I was on hold 5x for over 45 minutes to reschedule an appointment and I eventually hung up. I'm still stuck with a $50 bill that I SHOULD NOT BE PAYING. You'll probably feel better telling your problems to a brick wall because you at least wont get condescending and mindless remarks thrown back at you when you're talking. This place should be embarrassed they classify themselves as a place for "mental health support/services" because they actually made me feel worse in every way possible.

This company is the worst ever the barrage you with text messages reminding you of your appointment and multiple emails. I received 5 text messages this morning reminding me of my appointment all before 9am PST. This should NOT be allowed and borders on harassment and I am furious with all this disruption. You keep changing systems and I have to keep re-registering and putting my information in over and over again. Then, you send me emails telling me I have to do it all over again. I am sick and fed up with your company. I love my therapist but I HATE your company and no longer want to have anything to do with you!!!! I am one pissed ex-client of yours. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUYER BEWARE

Billing Issues Never Get Resolved, they bleed you dry financially

Virginia Beach location Constant billing issues and when you are able to speak with someone, they are no help, but they will offer a payment plan. In my case, for medication management, they told me the provider puts in whatever codes they want during the 20 minute telehealth session (seems like they just want to line their pockets as nothing has changed) costs more than a 1 hour in person visit with the therapist. Medication management telehealth appointments last 20 minutes tops and my insurance is billed $450 and up. Between what I have to pay out of pocket for the telehealth appointments and the in-person sessions with my therapist, the billing is causing me to struggle financially which then causes me more anxiety and stress. My therapist is amazing and I would give her 5 stars but office management gets less than 0. They are cold, uncaring money driven and will harass you via phone, email and in person as soon as a balance is due and before you receive an invoice. If you have a card on file, they will charge it without any warning, again before you receive an invoice. Emailing the wecare email address and speaking to a billing representative does no good as they tell you to speak with the psychologist about the codes, good luck with that as if you ask about the billing codes, you are charged more.
