Missed appointment

Went through the process of filling out my personal info. I had hope I was getting much needed help. Nope. The app seems to not function. It sent me four reminders about my appointment and said join video, but there was no video to join. Awful experience and they have my card info, will get a hold a customer service asap to make sure they don’t charge me a penny,

This place is a scam

This place is a scam. I paid the $100 and took the quiz. I wrote an extensive overview of the care I needed, it was only medication management as I have just relocated and could not provide an in person provider. When I got on the call with the "therapist" we spoke for 11 minutes before she told me she was not able to help me, as Brightside did not prescribe the medication I needed. She offered more meds. I said no, she ended the call. I have reached out to customer service numerous times, no one responds. They were given an extensive overview of the care I was looking for, they knew they could not provide that but they charged me anyway and sent me on a call to tell me they couldn't help. So, basically they took payment to have a call (11 min) to tell me they weren't going to help. I have canceled my membership ( no thanks to an 11 min call for $100) but they continue to message me as if I am still a client. I have responded to every inquiry asking rot refund, they just keep sending inquiries. This review is edited because Brightside contested my original review and asked me to provide more info. I wish I looked at the reviews before I paid.

Selective discrimination & a liability to the public!

The ppl who need access to medication most are those being ripped off SSRIs (ie Adderall) but just like everywhere else, the toxic conservative fascists are making it far too hard to acquire these much needed meds. All medical health professionals have become the enemies of the patient's rights & that's the same for the United States Government. It is not safe to go to a doctor physically bcz they have made themselves targets of violent outbursts as they reliably rip ppl off their meds, (the real problem, not so much the drugs themselves). Morally pious ivory tower perspectives are the root problem within "murica" as a whole. This "business" will serve you drugs none should ever take nor do we as patients want. Again, patients have no rights & those involved are guilty of crimes against humanity. The employees are robots, just like every drone in every other industry. The women tried to BS me & wouldn't listen.. it was as if nothing I said actually registered = moron that shouldn't be dealing with "patients" at all. & she hung up me when I wouldn't allow her to pretend she knew what she was talking about. Just another corporate fascist or nazi sympathizer, like every other "medical healthcare professional", running a subtle soft killing eugenics program where any nonconformist who are too smart to be bullied into conformity get slowly murdered & their lives sabotaged to the point where they won't likely be offered the "privilege" of being "allowed" to breed.. this breeds intelligence out of the gene, more & more, every generation. AKA the wrong side of history. AKA lesser minds telling smart ppl how to live their lives. Nothing but stigmatizing ppl & convincing us to turn to the cartels & the dark-web for our neurochemical supplementation needs. Avoid the entire industry & we are one step closer to all out civil war. Shame on america, conservatives, religious fascists, the government & every doctor who does nothing to fight these atrocities. "Land of the free? Whoever told you that is your enemy." Rage Against the Machine PS telling me I can't use certain language here is oppressive run of the mill tech fascism & forced mindless obsequiousness while also making emotional honesty a crime. = you are all bleepn bleeps. ;-P"

Not inclusive and the quiz is deeply epistemically harmful

I'm was very confused and disappointed to not see bipolar or ADD-- the two issues I was here to seek help with-- not listed as options in the introductory quiz. I selected "not sure" and then was told I had severe depression with no quiz given to test for anything other than depression and anxiety. Not only is this lazy and poor, but it's a dangerous act of epistemic harm that could gaslight less aware patients into believing they have the wrong disorder. To begin by assuming you know what is wrong is both cruel and poor medicine. horrifying experience right at the beginning which tells me just how little actual research in psychiatric ethics went into it. Even the first intro message of "back to being you" gave me chills. What does that even mean? I am always me and I don't subscribe to that kind of narrow thinking of neurodiversity. I've learned they are also terribly corrupt and accept all kinds of big pharma bribes. Is there no hope for those of us who need medication but want to speak to someone who actually cares about us and isn't just thoughtlessly lining their pockets and doling out scripts?

Beware for those suffering from anxiety—it only gets worse

If you are truly suffering from depression and anxiety, this is not the way to go. You cannot reach anyone by phone. You can message and wait for response and chat through video IF you get an opportunity with at least a 24 Hr notice and your therapists “working hours”. I am suffering from severe depression and anxiety and can’t get a live person to speak with. For those suffering from anxiety, this platform and program only makes it worse. I would recommend an in person therapy before taking you down a darker path. That’s what I’m doing because the meds prescribed and the lack of therapy by missed appointments as caused me to spiral even further. I believed and trusted in this program in my time of need, only to be let down. Some May not be strong enough to pick up and go elsewhere, so I beg you to really consider if seeking help with Brightside is right for your first step to accepting your challenges.

these guys couldn't be more corrupt

these guys couldn't be more corrupt - effectively B2C SaaS for the corrupt american pharmaceutical industry pushing drugs as low-cost to them as possible; even at the expense of the patients. In other words, their a business to consumer software-as-a-service that pushes drugs by medical doctors, *not* psychiatrists.

A terrible scam of a company that will take your money but fail to ship meds. The customer service is beyond a joke. They don’t help AT ALL. The “doctors” are the worst I’ve ever seen in my entire life. The first doctor knew I had seizures and prescribed me a medication known to cause issues in patients with seizures. And I had many issues. Dangerous ones. Please go somewhere else, please don’t trust these money grubbing monsters with your mental health. They don’t care and they don’t do anything they promise.

Unprofessional

My experience with Brightside is that they are unprofessional, they give you the runaround, and the experience feels uncomfortable. Communication with the "Support Team" is so impersonal. My information was somehow messed up on their end and it took a number of emails to get it straightened out. You are expected to pay in advance for 4 sessions in a months time but its not possible to see your assigned therapist 4x in a month due to their patient workload. By law you are entitled to a copy of your records and summery notes without delay, but they do not comply, They send you the same message over and over saying it takes up to 30 days...Federal law says without delay! My therapist was a very nice lady, however, because she works from her home, my sessions have been interrupted by her family and she eats and drinks during my session. If I'm paying $300 for therapy for mental health issues, its only fair that I recieve undivided attention for 45 min. I guess I pictured those in the mental health field to be a bit more attentive and compassionate.

Brightside Is a Subscription Scam

I want to start with, THIS IS A SCAM. Prior to PAYING, we contacted them and got a plan in place. It was the first week in January when we contacted them. At that time they said when we paid we would get 4 virtual appointments in January. And texting and email contact 24/7. Payment was to be all at once for each month up front and on a subscription basis. $299 per month. (We have kept ALL emails.) We also let them know prior to paying that we would need the Summary Notes. ( After more than a decade of advocacy, the 21stCentury Cures Act mandated that, as of April 5, 2021, health care providers had to make most forms of clinical notes available free of charge and without delay. Same day provider summary notes.) This is the current federal law. Brightside.com does NOT provide these notes. In fact they told us it would take 30 days to get the medical records. However if you look up the above law Brightside MUST provide provider notes same day. After a month we have not got the notes. Then the appointments. AFTER full monthly payment was made the first appointment was set for the latter half of the second week in January and the second appointment was set for the last Sunday of January, Please note it is IMPOSSIBLE to get all 4 promised appointments. So to the therapist. Concerning the last Sunday visit of 01-29-2023, the therapist was EATING on camera when logged in. During the visit her son interrupted the session and she had to address that and later another child. The interruptions were often. Asked her about getting summary notes, she was clueless and explained that she had no idea why Brightside said she could do something about it. The therapist PUSH medications hard, but could not provide medical notes to explain why. We would like a FULL refund AND the MEDICAL NOTES within 1 week. We have kept all emails and text. This is a subscription scam, we are still fighting for the records and refund.

I tried Brightside when I was at my…

I tried Brightside when I was at my lowest. From the very beginning I felt a little off about the psychiatrist I met with. She asked me very personal questions about past trauma and in tears I responded and could barely get out the words. She was silent. After looking at her computer and typing for what felt like 30 seconds she finally responded with no inflection or care at all said in a monotone voice, “I’m sorry that happened to you.” She then quickly moved onto her next question. In that meeting I was told I would have a follow up appointment in two to four weeks to see how I’m doing and adjust the dose for the medication she prescribed if I needed to. I hadn’t received anything telling me to set up my next appointment so I reached out and she said wait for a link. I waited and by week 5 I reached out again and said I really need to make an appointment to adjust my meds and 1 week later she replied and said, “I’m sure you misunderstood me. You are not going to setup an appointment. You will receive forms to fill out to monitor your progress, no appointment is needed at this time.” The thing is I DO NEED an appointment at this time. I’m asking for it to adjust my meds. I am completely dissatisfied and would give this a zero if I could. Waste of time and money.

Wish i would have read these first

Wish i would have read these first. What a waste of time. Very quick to onboard and charge, tell me i was misdiagnosed and taking harmful medications and then disappear for two weeks with no follow up except “we are reviewing your case” - unbelievable waste of time and stress added.

Don’t waste your money or time.

I signed up three weeks ago. I’ve made appointments with the first therapist who CANCELLED the night before at 9:30pm EST. I made arrangements for someone to watch my kids so I could do that session. So I picked a new therapist. Made an appointment a week away. And it got cancelled by the therapist less than 12 HOURS beforehand. Once again, I made arrangements for someone to watch my kids so I could complete this session. This service is a joke.

Unauthorized charges - Scam

I saw a brightside therapist twice and a psychiatrist once. The therapist was great. However, the psychiatrist decided on a pretty severe "diagnosis" after one short meeting. Due to the severity of the diagnosis, and the limited contact with the psychiatrist, I went to get a second opinion with a local mental health clinic. I spoke with several psychiatrists there and they felt that the diagnosis was irresponsible after a single meeting. They refused to give the same diagnose even after a week inpatient. Due to this, I immediately cancelled my account. After cancelling my account in October, they have been continuing to charge me every month since. The app dashboard still says "your plan will be cancelled on 10/28/22" and the "Contact Us" link only brings you back to the homepage. I reached out to them via email and am waiting to hear back. Definitely something uncouth going on with this company. Stealing people's money is not a great way to help their mental health.

Awful

Awful! They have so many glitches and if you want to pay with insurance, they put you on a wailing list to just be able to maybe talk to someone that to help figure out if they can help. That’s nonsense. Now! If I paid upfront, no issues. Can you imagine all the people that actually need help? This semi-rejection took a few days because their site is infected with glitches. I’m not even going to bother. I honestly don’t know how they got all this positive reviews. Mind blowing.

Tawnya

First, to the person from Brightside who is responding to people's posts with personal information - you're violating HIPAA policies. Other than saying "we cannot comment on someone, but would love to speak with you regarding your experience", that's it! You're literally setting yourselves up for a lawsuit. Get someone in your marketing department who knows HIPAA compliance and responding to social media posts for crying out loud! (yes, my master's in healthcare administration). Secondly, agree with another review that the site is clunky. I have no idea what the providers would be like so I can't respond to that. But, I booked the appointment, got a text confirming with an option to cancel or reschedule, click on that link and it takes you nowhere. There is no option to cancel. Contacted customer service and they responded, but didn't cancel the appt as I requested and now 2 days later and multiple communications, I just got another reminder for the appointment. I think the issue here is that in the State of California, with subscriptions, you have to make an online option to cancel the subscription if they signed up. They do this apparently by providing the "text" with the option, but then it doesn't work. I'm pretty sure the law was not intended to be an process in futility and should actually function. So, just because I think the platform is really clunky and not well thought-out or drafted by knowledgeable healthcare professionals, I knew it wasn't going to be where I chose to receive treatment.

Bad Tech that becomes a major blocker to getting help

I used Brightside for almost a year. I went on the therapy and medication plan. I have no complaints about the therapist or the physician who prescribed my meds. The problems started when it failed to update my credit card after my HSA ran out. They disabled my account. When we finally got it re-enabled, I was still not seeing the links to contact or make appointments online. The only way I could make an appointment was to use a link in the reminder emails they sent. I sent four or five requests for tech support that never fixed my issue. The final straw is when my appointment was canceled and received an email notification that the therapist sent me a message. Unfortunately there was still no way to read my therapists messages. That was infuriating and extremely unprofessional. Imagine being a therapist who can’t communicate with their patients! I don’t blame the therapist as she had told me a lot of people had issues with the technology. I finally canceled and got a refund for the sessions I did not use. Brightside has lousy technology that becomes a wall between you and your therapist. It is not reliable. The fact I cannot receive emails directly from my therapist makes me realize just how walled in they are. The web site itself is a clunky mobile-only site that seemed to be created by someone new to writing web applications. It’s a single column layout that looks cheap compared to their competition. Do not use Brightside. It will cause more anxiety than it helps.

Would give 0 stars

Would give 0 stars. I was doing online therapy weekly and it was going well. Two days before my next appointment I received notification that my appointment was canceled and my account was closed. No explanation, no heads up from my therapist. I reached out to Brightside, I think this is very poor mental health service. Since they closed my account I no longer have access to the lessons I completed and paid for.
