Review summary
48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
Went abroad and could not access my mobile data. Followed all the troubleshooting guides. Could not get through to an agent as the customer service is shocking. Had this problem previously and got a new sim and it worked but now am again without data.
lost the first months payment and the activation payment. 48 took my money out my bank on 4th march then said they hadn't got it! i asked for it to be investigated and i am still waiting for an email from them to explain what is happening.
if i were you i would AVOID this company.
Waste of time and money trust me just don't even bother I have friends that are customers of 48 and recommended this network but honestly I wasn't able to activate the sim and wasted 12.99 and the activation fee nearly 30 euros aswell gone and not as much as an email back when I contacted them
I usually don't write reviews but feel compelled to do so regarding 48, the worst company I have ever come in contact with.
I preceeded to switch my old number from 1 provider to 48 on the 13th of march, whatever they done while porting my number I had no phone working until yesteday 12 days later. I contacted them numerous times per day via online chat and just got so frustrated going around in circle's with no update but please be patient our technical team is working on it. In the meantime I contacted comreg to complain but the service provider has upto 10 working day's to solve any problems before they will get involved. It felt to me like 48 knew they had those 10 working day's to fix the issue and had no intention of fixing it until the time was almost up. Comreg did give me a complaint phone number which I ended up ringing numerous time's daily with the same old lies fed back to me. I run a small business and to be left uncontactable on a number I've been using for over 20 years is really not acceptable.
Please avoid this excuse of a service provider at all cost. So angry there is no accountability for this disgraceful level of service.
If u want to use ur fon abroad and ur on a 48 contract forget it. Roaming doesn't work. I have spent the last 4 and a half hours on a chat with 3 different agents. They were no help. I'm cancelling my subscription with them when I get home off hols. I'm fuming. It's been so frustrating not having a service I paid for. I'm supposed to be on hols enjoying myself and instead I'm going around in circles with 48 agents. Wasting my time and not achieving anything.
48 no roaming despite many videos and support info.
I joined 48 mobile provider in Ireland and to date my experience has been a positive one. I ordered the new sim and opted to keep my existing number. The sim was delivered in three working days. Set up was straightforward and overall it took 30 mins to activate new sim. My only observation and its not a big deal there is no button to auto renew the monthly €12.99 subscription. I contacted the support desk and a very helpful support team member replied and assisted and closed my query.
I can’t give any feedback at this point on roaming. However, so far 48 is meeting my needs and I would have given 5 stars if I could be sure that the previously noted roaming issues have been resolved.
roaming 9/3/24 I switched on the roaming option in UK and it worked. I had full coverage for duration of stay and the network was very stable. During visit I did not experience any loss of service etc. On arrival home I switched off roaming option. All good!
Roaming 18/3/24 I switched on Roaming for Europe. I tried every possible option using the support pages and videos. Roaming APN with Proximus does not connect to the automatic providers Vodafone, Movista etc. Very disappointing. Not sure if I will have a service when I return home. So frustrating
Bought a SIM 2 weeks ago and activated it with a request to port my existing number. Two weeks later and at least 8 calls to support it’s still not ported. Absolutely nothing happened for the first week. I eventually called them and since then I’ve been on to them daily. Each time they tell me they are working on it and I need to be patient! As of yesterday I have mobile data and I can make calls. But if somebody phones me they get a message to say my number is unavailable. Just waiting for the support to open now so that I can spend another half hour on the phone before being told they’re working on it and I need to be patient. They may be cheap but the service so far is none existent. Nobody can phone me two weeks after I joined.
Update. I spoke to support again this morning at 9.30 and was told the same “working on it”. At 11.30 I suddenly lost my mobile data as well. So now I’ve got a phone that I can’t use for calls or data. Brilliant.
Further update. They finally ported my number and I thought great. Then I tried to make a call. Got a voice telling me I had no credit, and no data left, despite having paid for the month. Support told me that my SIM card was registered to someone else. Fortunately I had another, which they got me to put in. That solved nothing. Still no calls or data available. I am once again, after a hour and a half on support chat, waiting for them so sort it out and email me when it’s done. I’m at my wits end.
Ok. I upgraded from 7.99 to 12.99e to get 5G ( I need that speed ). OMG. That was the best move. I am getting even 300Mb! In Dublin. Woow just woow. It is THE best ,,cheap,, network that works perfectly in Ireland. I still have concerns about roaming tho. Despite new sim, I still worry about it. Please please work in Spain!
