Review summary
48 Mobile has room for improvement based on customer feedback. Customers particularly appreciate service and great value, though some mention concerns about customer service and expensive.
The worst operator I've ever used. The internet is absolutely unstable. The speed is 0.2mb/s and this is 4g coverage? According to diagnostics, it feels like they're "scattering" it across different servers, like some kind of parasite. Ping is crazy. +- normal internet only at night. I don't recommend it
False Advertising Buyer Beware.
You have to purchase a plan by contract before you get your free month and then you have very little data as they say it's a FAIR USAGE POLICY.
Absolutely A Disgrace.
It Looks like a great deal but it's not.
Beware.
Absolutely terrible. Indescribably useless. Data rarely ever works, and if it does, it’s 3g. There is no roaming despite what they say. I’ve tried everything and even got in contact with 48 to fix the issue and still nothing works. On top of that, you are not able to call non Irish numbers. UK, Spain, America etc. Complete joke. I don’t understand how something can be so useless. I am not usually the type to leave reviews and complain about things, but holy god 48 is terrible. The price is good, but the quality of services needs a serious overhaul.
If you're considering switching your service to this company, I urge you to reconsider. My experience with their customer support has been nothing short of a nightmare, prompting me to write this review as a warning to others.
Right off the bat, dealing with their support team was a massive headache. Every attempt to resolve even the simplest of issues turned into an endless loop of frustration. It's a stark contrast to Eir, which, despite its flaws, now seems like a beacon of efficiency and customer care in comparison.
The lack of empathy, understanding, and effective communication from their support staff was baffling. It felt as though my concerns were falling on deaf ears, with no genuine effort made to address them. The entire experience left me feeling undervalued as a customer and convinced that my business was better placed elsewhere.
To anyone thinking of making the switch, I cannot stress enough: do not do it. The allure of potentially better deals or services fades quickly when faced with abysmal support. It's not worth the aggravation or the time wasted. Stick with Eir or consider other alternatives that prioritize customer satisfaction and support.
In conclusion, heed my advice and avoid this company at all costs. Your time, peace of mind, and business are worth far more than what you'll endure with their supposed "support."
Awful company anytime Ive gone abroad I've had issues with roaming 2 days my internet wouldn't work for when I eventually got to speak to the second person on the second day they managed to direct me to what to do. I'm back in Ireland no since last night and my signal is completely gone no calls no data or anything since u landed back tried to speak to someone and it's saying it's not opened yet despite it saying 9am on there site and it's now 9.40 ,would not recommend always issues I will be switching to another company
I have been with this company for about five years . I had a few issues with the roaming and setting up a new phone but when you get through they are very patient and helpful . Overall I highly recommend them especially the price
total junk of a century, support is dead…zero understanding and help, app is worst piece of junk i had ever experienced ,cant even log in to my account with curent update !!! very few credit cards can go trough without having millions of issues and back fires with money being taken of account but no plan given and such, not sure who bought the company but they are total no brainers of the century….years before was all good, but now its a worst company of them all by miles!! nothing else to say just not worth the hassle what so ever……!!!!!!
Totally disgrace, hidden cost of activation fees, not even disclosed on their website only when you were ready to buy the new subscription. Also registered as a student to benefit the discount , went thru verification process and log in and registered with college email, still showing the full rate. STAY AWAY
I switched from Three to 48 lately and here’s what I think
I switched from Three to 48 lately, and I’m so glad I did. To everyone who says that 48 has no roaming data at all in the EU is wrong. At first, I was so frustrated as it was indeed not working when we landed in Venice, so I had to connect to my husband’s hotspot, but guess what? I knew how to research. I looked up the issue on their Help page and found the answer to my problem. I changed the APN settings on my iPhone and boom, it worked!!! I was getting 5g as well, and my connection was stable and so fast. There were even times I had a stronger connection than my husband who’s still using Three (he will be switching once his prepaid credit expires). You also have to turn on the settings for hotspot connection manually in order to share your data!
Overall, I highly recommend 48, and yes, I am staying.
PRO TIP: Before you leave a bad review, try to find a solution first. To save you time, just search for this keyword, “48, APN settings.” I wish I could put the link, but it won’t let me.
If you’re thinking of switching, don’t hesitate and just do it! I was paying €20 monthly and now I’m down to €12.99, got to kept the same number with more benefits!
My experience with 48 was totally positive: I was an expat in Ireland for about 3 months and I chose 48 first of all because of the low costs compared to other companies; reading the other reviews I feared much worse, instead I didn't have a single problem neither in County Cork nor in Dublin (above all I used a lot of data).
I had a few problems when activating the card, but it was solved by the customer service... but if I can make a suggestion to the company, I would try to improve the quality of the staff because I was not totally satisfied.
In any case, my final verdict is positive.
Just a disaster from start to finish. We pay for roaming on my daughters iphone and it has never worked. So have wasted money since we started with them.
Leaving them tomorrow , would even consider Eir, they are that bad
Poor. Roaming is a joke, I can't even make a call in the EU. The change guidance for the APN is really poorly constructed.
I'll be back in Ireland in a couple of days and go back to Vodafone. Think carefully about this service provider if you are going abroad with your kids
