Great teachers!

Kathrin has been an amazing teacher for the last year... Very friendly and engaging with the children and able to lead the lesson so that all the children get to improve and have a good time.

Excellent introduction to water no matter how young your baby

The swim instructors are fantastic, we had 2 in our time with water babies. From our first lesson when my little one was 6 weeks old to my last session when she was 8 months old. They were kind, helpful & most of all kept us safe in the water whilst having fun and bonding with our babies. It definitely helped my confidence & my little one has always loved the water & isn't scared at all. The only reason for 1 star short of 5 was the venue, because it is a private school it wasn't catered for the usual public swimming. So the changing facilities weren't set up with cubicles, showers, changing tables for babies etc. However, it was very local for us, so we were happy to compromise on this. We could have had lessons further afield with a more formal changing facility but this wasn't practical for us to travel.

Toria the waterbabies instructor at…

Toria the waterbabies instructor at jethen house is absolutely amazing!! She goes above and beyond to make parents and children feel comfortable, supported and heard. Nothing is too much trouble and any concerns you have regarding swimming with your little one is always taken into consideration and the support you didnt even know you needed is alway's given to make you feel confident and ready to swim with you baby. You can really tell the passion she has for waterbabies not only as an instructor but also as a parent who has been through it twice. Im so so glad I chose waterbabies and im so so glad we were put into Torias class.

Progressive and fun

Lessons are progressive and so much fun for me and my daughter. We have been attending since she was 12 weeks old and have no intentions to stop. The confidence gained in just 14 weeks is incredible. Lessons do tend to run late meaning we start later than expected, and this obviously will happen when dealing with children! but I have noticed that our session is occasionally cut five minutes short which is disappointing considering each session is over £20 for half hour.

Stay away!

Wow....I really should have read these reviews before signing up.... I agree with most of them...stay away from this company. Their admin is appalling.... They offered a catch up lesson in other areas, some 30 miles away & times that simply didn't work for us. All we wanted was the ONE catch up lesson to be added to our current schedule. Simple really. They continue harp on about costs etc, refer to the t&c's and apologising for the confusion, and its all about the enjoyment for the little ones in each response. We was never confused.... quite condescending really. They then proceeded to take funds from a card which I had not authorised for the 4 weeks notice. We was not offered continued lessons in this time even though they had taken the payment for the cancellation period..the highlight was the instructor calling me to check if I was attending class still....& receiving emails from them saying its not too late to sign up for lessons 🤣 We are now in the process of escalating this complaint with our bank and further with the company. We have now also signed up with a new company who have been lovely and admin side of things spot on! 😀

Appalling company

Appalling company. Kept on cancelling classes. Our last cancellation was for the whole month and we got given less than 24 hours' notice. No explanation as to why they hadn't informed us earlier. No substitute teacher available. Like all the other reviewers, we sent a complaint to their designated email address and received no response. Yet we did receive an email about an underwater photoshoot, which is quite ironic. They were happy enough to take our money for the classes which are not happening and were hoping we would also pay money for their photoshoot. Disgusting.

Never again

Very disappointed in this company. We had a great instructor in the beginning in tunbridge wells but then the regular instructor came back. It felt like she was there because she was being paid to. Her energy was 0 and she was quite condescending at times after all these were only babies. The company take your money in advance so be be prepared if you cannot make a class.. as no refunds or credits. They offer make up classes but these can be 30 miles away Absolute joke. Facilities were poor. Not big changing areas and mold on the walls... stay away!

Terrible experience… the amount of…

Terrible experience… the amount of times we had to change teachers and pools due to them cancelling the specific time and ‘not running that class anymore’ cancelling the lesson last minute. Pools are freezing, then when I wanted to cancel to be told there was a 2 weeks notice, I did not read anything like this or sign anything when signing up. My son was in lots of different classes no where near his age group, not even sure the classes go higher than 2 tbh. Same stuff every week, he didn’t learn anything apart from his confidence in going under, pulled him out and got him in a 1-1 he is 3 years of age and is near enough swimming now unaided. You’re better off private.

We will avoid in future

Our little girl has been going here for a few months. They use the pool at Village Hotel and the facilities there had been undergoing refit which meant often it was very difficult to get changing room access as a dad with your little girl. We spoke to the instructor on a number of occasions to let her know we will be ending our swimming lessons in September as our little girl was going to nursery. Noticed that we were still going to be charged and contacted by phone and left a message and then two weeks later by email. They say that because we told the instructor - their representative that this wasn’t valid so have to pay for a whole month of swims that we cannot use. Be very wary of this company, i cannot understand how speaking to the instructor isn’t counted as contacting them and at least would have expected the instructor to say we need to email or write in to cancel. Even when I questioned this and they didn’t even acknowledge that they should make sure their instructors advise their customers of things like this. We won’t be returning to this company due to their inflexibility and should have listened to all the other reviews about their behaviour to terms and conditions.

No refund for a genuine reason!! Avoid!

Avoid this company at all costs!! I had a bereavement in my family at the beginning of July, which I was devastated about so I couldn’t take my 8 month old son to his lessons as I was so upset and suffering with depression and anxiety. They took the direct debit but I explained my situation and I asked for a refund and that I wouldn’t be attending any further but may do in the future when I was feeling up to it as my son loves to swim, so I was told I might be able to get a refund due to my circumstances and the nature of how I was. Now over a month later after contacting them again, I’ve been told I’m not eligible for a refund even tho the bereavement was out of my control and I attended none of the lessons for July. They are not compassionate or understanding and take money and refuse to give a refund for a genuine reason of why I couldn’t attend. I wouldn’t recommend at all. Keeping my money for something I never attended. It’s disgusting behaviour from a company like this. They are quick to sign you up but their aftercare is atrocious.

They cancelled lessons and have held onto the money saying it’s credit. I cancelled the subscription as we couldn’t make the final lessons. I was told I couldn’t have a refund because of the cancellation policy. They then continued to take another payment even though we have cancelled and we are in credit.

Daughter suddenly hates water, 4 week notice period

Our daughter initially was OK with the lessons, but one week suddenly decided she didn't want to swim (she was about 7 months old). This started the week after a trainee teacher took the class, but we're not sure if it's related. We persevered for a few more weeks, trying lots of ways to encourage her to enjoy it, but she just clung on to her dad and wouldn't do any of the activities, and was clearly unhappy at being there. Eventually we decided to stop putting her through it and rang up to cancel, but were told that there's a 4 week notice period (first we'd heard about it). We cancelled the direct debit but they somehow they took our money anyway. So that was nearly £80 spent on lessons we didn't go to. I'm still cross about it 2 months later and I've been telling all my friends with babies to go to their local authority leisure centre instead. It's much cheaper and you won't feel like you've literally been robbed. Update: I got in touch with Waterbabies about a month ago at the email address they advised in the reply here. No reply yet.

Water babies, but without the water.

Water babies should perhaps better be known as land babies. £90 a month for the occasional swim, due to repeated cancellations, often at the last minute or sometimes without any communication at all. Departures of regular teachers clearly not happy with the direction of the company have made this an altogether unpleasant experience. Time to cancel.

Too often people are quick to post…

Too often people are quick to post negative reviews but less so for positive experience. Ive sent a number of requests to have lessons changed and Kirsty, Hannah and Charlotte have always been fast, accomodating and friendly!
