Great teachers!

Kathrin has been an amazing teacher for the last year... Very friendly and engaging with the children and able to lead the lesson so that all the children get to improve and have a good time.

Excellent introduction to water no matter how young your baby

The swim instructors are fantastic, we had 2 in our time with water babies. From our first lesson when my little one was 6 weeks old to my last session when she was 8 months old. They were kind, helpful & most of all kept us safe in the water whilst having fun and bonding with our babies. It definitely helped my confidence & my little one has always loved the water & isn't scared at all. The only reason for 1 star short of 5 was the venue, because it is a private school it wasn't catered for the usual public swimming. So the changing facilities weren't set up with cubicles, showers, changing tables for babies etc. However, it was very local for us, so we were happy to compromise on this. We could have had lessons further afield with a more formal changing facility but this wasn't practical for us to travel.

Toria the waterbabies instructor at…

Toria the waterbabies instructor at jethen house is absolutely amazing!! She goes above and beyond to make parents and children feel comfortable, supported and heard. Nothing is too much trouble and any concerns you have regarding swimming with your little one is always taken into consideration and the support you didnt even know you needed is alway's given to make you feel confident and ready to swim with you baby. You can really tell the passion she has for waterbabies not only as an instructor but also as a parent who has been through it twice. Im so so glad I chose waterbabies and im so so glad we were put into Torias class.

Progressive and fun

Lessons are progressive and so much fun for me and my daughter. We have been attending since she was 12 weeks old and have no intentions to stop. The confidence gained in just 14 weeks is incredible. Lessons do tend to run late meaning we start later than expected, and this obviously will happen when dealing with children! but I have noticed that our session is occasionally cut five minutes short which is disappointing considering each session is over £20 for half hour.

I was not able to book the class

I was not able to book the class. The only way they accept payments us over the phone. They ask for all card details so the can charge you. Which includes card number, cvc, expire date. This is NOT SECURE and they have no other way to pay for the class.

My 8-month-old has classes at…

My 8-month-old has classes at Waterbabies in Shepperton and I must say the classes are brilliant! I love the difference in the teaching style of the instructors and how knowledgeable they all are. Francis was brilliant and had the most calming voice and demeanor. Also as a company, they have been very flexible and accommodating for us as a family when we have needed to cancel due to illness or switch areas. Main thing is my baby is now taking to water well, and I am happy I gave the company a chance, because some of the comments here really scared me!

fantastic class, my son loves it!

I am so surprised that the reviews aren't better. In my experience this is a fantastic class. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side and it's definitely one of the more expensive classes we've done but my Son absolutely loves it. We are 1 year into his classes now and he has so much water confidence, enjoys being in the pool and his swimming skills are coming on lovely. We started when my Son was 3 months old and its one of the only classes we have continued. Teachers are great, the classes are fun. So for us it has to be 5 stars.

I am surprised by the poor reviews for…

I am surprised by the poor reviews for waterbabies. We go to a class in N.Ireland and love it but will be stopping when I'm going back to work. The 4 week cancellation period people mention is very clearly written in their terms and conditions that you have to sign. Also very clear their rules surrounding missed lessons. The only downside I have is that the pool that I go to has very poor parking facilities and also very poor baby changing facilities! That puts me off more than anything else. It's a whole faffing session to get parked and get the wee one changed after - many times on the floor with just a towel down. But as for waterbabies - excellent teachers, fun lessons, don't make anyone do anything they aren't comfortable with but are equally encouraging. My baby has come on so well and has built water confidence which I think is a very important life skill. Knocked off a star because of the price (a tad pricey).

I’ve enjoyed waterbabies…

I’ve enjoyed our waterbabies experience. I have two daughters in the classes aged 1 and 3. Teaching is very good. We’re now leaving because the expense for two is too much at the moment but I would recommend.

Poorly run service

I would agree with most of the negative reviews here and will be finding an alternative provider - no proactive communication of class schedule and holiday closures. You have to log into their portal to find out when classes aren’t happening - constant last minute cancellation of lessons sometimes less than an hour before the class is meant to start - sudden withdrawal of classes and pushed to other pools further away - only proactive communication is to sell their underwater photography which is all they seem to care about. The lessons themselves when they actually happen are ok and the instructors good but the way the company is run is a joke

Restrictive T&Cs

Classes were good but T&Cs were very restrictive and inflexible (especially with a baby and given the high the price point ). We won’t be going back.

Rude and aggressive staff on the phone

Rude and aggressive staff on the phone, bullying my wife for payment for 6 weeks worth of classes even before starting a single class. Disgusting behaviour, and will not recommend to any parents.

If I could put a 0 I would

If I could put a 0 I would I think the lessons are poor and the instructors are poorly trained - 10 month old at the time was very confident in water yet we was in a class with 3-6 month olds. I originally called to book in lessons to see if my son would like it, I paid for 3 lessons over the phone before Christmas time. On the phone they never mentioned that they would take money from your card each month and that you have a “4 week notice period” if you want to cancel. My son attended 2 lessons and in total I had paid for 7. I emailed to say that he was unwell at the time which is why I would not attend but that did not matter to them, they charged me anyway and did not offer a refund despite my son being ill and me having proof with a doctors note. He had tonsillitis and then had an operation a few weeks after. How could I have taken him swimming??? It was so disappointing as I was so excited to take him to swim classes and the experience was awful. I would never recommend this company to anyone, they are money grabbing and the actual teaching is awful - I learnt nothing. In the 2 lessons I attended I had different instructors. Wish I read these reviews before I handed my card over!!!

Not a good experience

I attended classes and found them quite upsetting. The ‘dunking’ of tiny babies under water resulted in a couple of visibly terrified children, including my own. I was told that the dunking was compulsory if I was to return to class, so I cancelled. I understand that a shock experience is to be expected, but 45 mins of a baby screaming in terror is not normal and no mother should be expected to submit her child to this, or encouraged to override her instincts.
