I've used a lot of car rental companies in many countries in the past, and Snap in New Zealand provided the best service out of all of them by far. Their rental rates were very competitive, they accepted debit cards (a lot of rental places accept credit card only), the entire process from start to finish was hassle-free, the car I hired was in immaculate condition, and last but certainly not least, all the staff were super friendly. Not to mention, the free airport shuttle was super convenient! I would 100% recommend Snap Rentals to any travelers looking to hire a car in New Zealand.

Car was upgraded at no extra cost on pickup. Nice tidy vehicle. Small breakdown in comms regarding last airport shuttle time, was graciously accepted by the team in Christchurch and a staff member put us back in our rental and drove us to the airport so that we didn’t miss our flight. I prepaid for the car plus comprehensive insurance. You still charged my card an extra $2000 as a security charge in case of damage. The excuse given was I could cancel the comprehensive insurance, that’s nonsense as i had prepaid it when paying for the car. You also charged me a public holiday fee, you knew the booking dates, why add that on pickup? I find your pricing deceptive, car was good, staff were friendly, company billing policy is poor. I won’t use Snap again !

Great experience in pickup from airport, receiving the car within 10mins of arrival with car in good condition. Even when dropping the car back it was quick and efficient. Only they need to keep another alternative form of communication for international travelers arriving with no local contact nos, a WhatsApp nos would be helpful as you get WiFi at the airport and can quickly chat with the person at the other end and get a quick assurance that they are on their way to pick you up instead of a push button email with no further communication can be a little stressful wondering if the message was received.

The rental car itself was fine. But the staff didn't check the key fob battery before handing it to us. Our key fob battery died on the last day and caused us a big inconvenience (walking in the rain seeking a gas station for battery replacement, keeping the door open in the cold wind with young kids inside since the alarm won't stop if we closed the door). We ended up calling a locksmith who fixed our emergency issue
